stale food and noisy. 5/7/2012

I wanted to like moxie but had no choice but to eat up and leave. The eggs with bacon were really soggy. I had the change the coffee three different times it was not fresh. There are also alot of little children running around screaming which make it difficult for anyone to enjoy a meal and the workers get into these loud conversations with one another as if they are at home. In the evening when I got home ended up throwing up everything I ate that day would never go back. more

vast prices for small portions of food 4/14/2012

I was not pleased with moxie when I had lunch here two weekends ago. The store was very noisy alot of little ones running around yelling. I paid vast prices for small portions of food a burger really tiny and very little fries sorry not phased wont be coming back. more

Vast disaster to hit Atlantic ave 3/22/2012

I have eaten in many stores along Atlantic Ave through the years it is known for having stores with stale food and service this is one of them. I had ordered a waffle for breakfast with bacon it came out really bad, had to send it back was able to order eggs but even they came out really soggy with the bacon tasting too hard and wasn't crispy. The waitress was apparently not attentive had to look for her to ask her for things. Moxie is really over priced for the small portions of food they offer wont be back here. more

I gave Moxie Spot enough chances 2/17/2012

I have a buddy of mine that lives only a block away from the Moxie and we use to come once in a while, since we use to walk along Atlantic Ave. The suggestion turned out to be an error on our part every time we ordered lunch we had to send it back because it was either over cooked or tasted stale. We exchanged our burgers for bacon and eggs and still they were cooked all wrong eggs were burned and over cooked. The bacon tasted really hard and not crispy. The server was not trying to understand or noticed what was going on.You figure that when you frequent a place enough that they would get there act together apparently not. I remember last summer when we tried to eat another lunch here and there was no ac or fans why open for the day? My friend and myself inquired about the delivery service and the cashier said no we don't deliver we tried it once and didn't work out that didn't make sense to us we don't see ourselves returning here ever again too many chances for too many mistakes. more

bland food with service that is expendable. 1/6/2012

I ate with my mom here a while ago, not too impressed with this place its seems like they turned it into a playground for little kids to run around. We paid hefty prices for small portions of a burger and fries it took a little over a half an hour to get served. there was way too much noise to try to enjoy anything wont be coming back. more

Vast prices for small portions. 12/27/2011

My boyfriend and myself came here for lunch last weekend. I ordered a Caesar salad with more Caesar dressing then salad, also ordered a burger well done instead the server brings me a cheese burger. It was disappointing not only did she mess up our orders had to wait for refills for our drinks. It came out to $24.00 for small burgers and salads. To narrow it down we paid a vast price for very small portions of food sorry not coming back. more

utterly stale breakfast 12/26/2011

I came across this place after coming out of the park a few blocks away. I walked in waited a while before my order was taken, got a bagel with cream cheese which tasted really stale. I took a few sips of my coffee and ended up throwing it out because it was really cold. Anyone want breakfast go to Montague st bagels they are the best wont be coming back here. more

overpriced and not well cooked 12/2/2011

I travel to different areas to try different restaurants, this place was a mistake waiting to happen. I spent over a fortune for a Caesar salad that had more dressing then a salad. The burger was dry and way over cooked. The only plus I can give this place is the fact that they have programs for kids that parents would like. Iam sorry the food just didn't do it for me. more

Bad, over-priced food; indifferent service 2/13/2011

Ordered vegetable panini, Caesar salad with shrimp, vegetable miso soup & grill cheese with french fries. The panini was really a melt on mediocre bread - had it actually been pressed it might have been better. The Caesar salad seemed to be dressed with cheese and vinegar and the shrimp were inedible – tasted like they had been cooked some time ago and warmed up for the occasion. The vegetable miso soup came with fresh tomatoes in it which gave it a very unpleasant aroma and taste. My 8-year-old son said the grilled cheese was gross and he is usually guaranteed to eat most grilled cheese sandwiches. The fries were okay. The indifference in the overall service and lack of quality in the food, leads me to believe that they are more focused on catering to regulars who come for the opportunity to allow their toddler bang incessantly on a metal wall. Not worth the price or the experience. more

a big rip off 11/19/2009

this is ubserd for a tiny burger these people wanted close to eight dollars, not only that their service is very slow was online with my kids for at least 45 min. I can get a bigger burger and fries for much cheaper on montague st. Pros: different style from other res Cons: too expensive for small burger more

too much for little food 9/19/2009

My husband and myself ate in this place two weekends ago. the prices were outrageous for the little portions of food we had. we hang out on atlantic ave once in a while figure lets give them a chance 24 bucks for two people eating sorry one chance is enough. Pros: It convienient location where we live Cons: high prices for little food more

too much $ for the portions they offer 9/17/2009

My wife and myself happen to live near this place we figure we give them the benefit of the doubt it just so happens that for the portions we were given too little for the money we paid and the burger was too small didnt feel like a burger. It took too long to get served we didnt have all day. sorry we rather try other places in the future! Pros: cozy ambiance and has childrens programs Cons: too expensive and slow service more

love the moxie spot 1/14/2009

great for children and adults the moxie spot has a great ambiance and is cozy spot the food is relativly inexpensive, like the steak which is organic and the chile prawns shrimp is the best. the ideas for food are creative and tasty (sweet potatoes fries are highly recomended) the bagles are order fresh every morning and unless your ready to have red velvet cupcakes or any other desert dont go therethere (which is to die for dont go) \r \r go to the moxie youll have fun Cons: just go its great all around more

Great idea, shoddy toys, limited food availability 9/29/2008

I've now been to Moxie Spot with my 18mo and husband on two occasions. I think it's a fantastic idea, and I love the music and story time events. However, on both visits, the restaurant has been out of key items on its menu. My most recent visit for breakfast found them without fruit salad and yogurt: staples in a toddler diet. I know there are going to be growing pains--and these things happen--but I mentioned it was the second time for us. The staff member's response was quite rude in return. In addition, it doesn't seem like the toys are ever cleaned. I know it's extremely difficult to keep them in pristine condition--especially since hundreds of kids are touching them every day--but there were a few in dangerous conditions for a toddler (i.e., loose pieces, chips, etc.). Again, I think the concept of Moxie Spot is a great one, but there are some kinks that still need to be worked out. Pros: Concept, free music/story time Cons: Shoddy toys, limited food availability more

The Moxie' Spot 6/4/2008

I found Moxie's Spot to be an adult oriented restaurant featuring a variety of grilled or steamed fish and a nice slection of organic chicken dishes. There was also an extensive salad bar that could be either a side salad or an entire dinner entree for devoted vegetarians.\r \r The food appeared to be authentic , good tasting and mildly organic, \r \r MY grilled Salmon with spinach and b \rown rice was fresh, dellicious and healthy. Most of the entrees averaged betwwen$!3 to $17. Reasonale for New York, \r \r One checks off your chosen items on a printed menue form and presents this to the the cashier, She rings up yur bill and places the orddr with the kitchen.\r Within a few minutes your food is delivered to your table.\r \r I was there about 8:00 PM on a Monday evening. The other diners appeared to fom the neighborhood and tended to be in their 20's and 30's with an aolder middle age coujple eating there,too.\r \r I understand that during the day a more children's oriented menue can be offered to the chilren attending the day care nursey school located on the second floor of the restaurant. \r \r The proprietor of the restaurant , Nat Rubin, has transformed the place into a delighful nautical themed eatery. The site used to be a large hardware store owned by my faher and his two brothers. \r \r I felt extremely happy and peaceful eating at Moxie's Spot. I felt my fathers soul would be resting easy seeing how Nat has transformed his store into a lovely restaurant on the first floor and a delightful chldrens day car faciitiy on the seconf floor.\r \r I hope the reataurant becomes a pillalr for the local community just a my Dad''s hardware stpre was in its days. \r \r Reommended to the owner that the take out and home catering be expanded. more
