Moxie

I have lived in Manhattan and Paris and Moxies is the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. The menu is not good and the service is syrupy. The owner says they can cook anything you want even if it is not on the menu, but those dishes end up being quite generic. We also tasted 4 dishes from the menu: the vegetarian pasta with mozzarella was a mush of vegetables in an unrefined tomato sauce with a few pieces of melted penne pasta and a few strands of mozzarella; the Jambalaya was an overly spiced concoction with no relation to the original dish; the halibut had been defrosted improperly and was full of water; and the chicken with artichoke sauce was bland. Contrary to what it says above, the very first time I came to Moxie we had incredible service by none other than one of the owners! He was very friendly and even told me, when I expressed reservations about a certain sauce, that they would make any changes to the dish I wanted and would even, within reason, go out to get ingredients if they did not have them. Needless to say I was impressed! I decided not to make them go through such trouble and selected something as-is from the menu. The food was as wonderful as the service! This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, so don't let that scare you off, you just found a gem! Quaint little place, superb food and presentation. Small menu but something for everyone! Nice wine selection. Owners are hysterical. Don't let the street parking intimidate you going here - worth circling the block for. more

Actually, I'd rate Moxie as one of the best restaurants anywhere! We discovered Moxie based on a reference from a friend several years back and it has been our favorite since then. The food is incredible and the service is impeccible. You feel like you are part of the family! Don't miss the calamari. Pros: Food, Service, Food Cons: Absolutely nothing! more

This is one of the few Sacramento Restaurants that has mastered the Art of Service. We take our out-of-town guests to Moxie, and they are amazed every time. We love this place. more
