Having been numerous times to Mother's on various trips to Buffalo, I looked forward to yet another pleasant visit. After arriving a few minutes before our reservation time, my friend and I were told to wait to the side, though a few empty tables were set and ready. Other parties arrived, and were sat.
Then two parties of two arrived, (each one man and one woman), and as I was near the hostess stand I over heard that neither party had a reservation. One of the parties was sat at a 4 top immediately, so at this point I leaned in and asked when we would be sat., and was told when our table was ready. I pointed out the 2nd available 4-top and was ignored. Couple #2 was then sat there..
Finally after a total of 20 minutes waiting time we were ushered to a small 2-top directly next to the full bar. Thus affording us an excellent view of all the bar patrons pants labels, and hem heights.
While one of the 'straight' couples at the 4 top, were enjoying their Miller High Life, clad in concert t-shirts. We were basically ignored after I complained that a tipsy bar patron had knocked over our bottle of pinot with his backside.
Were our button down shirts too tight? Our Manhattan hipster-Chelsea-boy image too polished? We certainly didn't imitate the 'High Life' couple as they groped each other between swigs. So as a one time regular (meaning that whenever I was in town), I'm thinking for our up coming trip next week, I'll skip the 3rd class treatment at Mother's, and maybe try Hutch's instead.. or Curley's in Lakawana.. another fun place.
