1/19/16 The first time we worked with Mark Mortensen, he cut down and removed a giant Cottonwood tree from our backyard which required a crane due to its size. It was a big job with a high degree of risk, but Mark and his team successfully cut down and removed the tree, leaving barely a trace of wood between the yard and the street. We were very impressed with Mark’s knowledge, experience and the level of customer service we received. Mark returned this winter to prune a Birch and a Crabapple tree in our front yard. The trees were overgrown and overlapping each other as well as leaning over our neighbor’s fence and roof to one side. When Mark came to our house to provide an estimate, he showed us a binder of before and after photos of trees he had pruned. It was the first time we’d seen trees that had been pruned without losing their shape or looking butchered. Unlike previous experiences with a well-known tree service company who simply chopped off outer limbs, Mark selectively pruned and preserved as many of the limbs as possible while addressing the overgrowth. We can see the front of our house again and our trees enhance our yard instead of overwhelming it. Late last summer Mark told us about the success he’s had with EnviroTree. We decided to apply the product to our trees, shrubs and patchy grass to see how it worked before the cold weather set in. Within 2 weeks, shrubs that were severely damaged by hail were rebounding and the bare patches of grass were filling in. I couldn't have hired a more professional and fair company that I know of. Mark Mortensen of Mortensen Tree Service, Inc. provided me an estimate earlier this year and I followed up with him a few months later. He came while I was at work, completed the work, and if it wouldn't be for the small stump that was left, you wouldn't know there was a tree there. They cleaned up after the removed there were only saw dust left. I got one more tree that has to go due to age and I will be utilizing them again. more

We thought one tree was going to need to be removed, but Mark provided EnviroTree for two sad-looking trees (and the lawn). In only a week both trees looked MUCH better, and now, about 2 months later, they are an order of magnitude better looking and healthier than they have been in 12 years The yard soil is also much improved. I spoke with several tree services in my area and had recommendations from several co-workers. In the end I went with Mortensen Tree Service. Mark was knowledgeable, courteous, on time and professional. He not only came out to bid the job but ran the job the day of service. This is not always the case with other companies. Mark and his crew removed a long-dead 60' or more cottonwood from the back of my house using a crane set up out front of the house on the street. They set up at 9 am and completed the work before noon. They lifted huge sections of the cut up tree and carried them over the top of the house to the street staging area out front, then to a flatbed. They cleaned up all the debris and did it in a professional manner. Very impressive! Using the crane was expensive, but necessary for the safety of all. more

After contacting a few firms through HomeAdvisor, we found Mark through the city of Littleton and boy are we glad that we did. We lost some large branches on our crab apple tree, many firms wanted to trim the whole tree back. Mark looked at it and suggest that since we were so far into the season, that we only trim the damaged branches and wait until next winter to trim the whole tree. My wife and I had Mark remove an enormous cottonwood tree from our back yard this last summer. The tree was about 12 feet from our house and we were worried that it would damage our house someday. Mark got a crane that lifted the tree pieces over the house and placed them on the street in front. We were amazed at how well it went. The people working for him seemed to have a lot of experience and knew exactly what they were doing. This is the second time I have had Mark come to my home, and even after a number of years was greeted like an old friend, not just a database notation. He is as invested in the property and maintenance of it as the homeowner. Mark promptly came out, gave a great estimate for the work needed and suggestions for changes and improvements to my questions about our yard. Mark cares for the trees and the trees' owners, and does his best for both. He'll tell you if the tree needs feeding, pruning, or when it just has to come down for safety--and help you will all three. They make the work as inobtrusive as possible, they leave your property clean and improved for what they've done. I have worked with Mortensen Tree Service twice now. They removed Aspens from our property. Aspens grow in clumps. Recently they removed five Aspens, and the last service they removed four. Mark and one other gentleman worked with me. Both of them were very friendly and a pleasure to work with. They also did a terrific job of cleaning the area after they finished. I have used Mortensen's Tree Service twice now. Both times I have had a good experience with them. When I first bought my house we had a dead aspen that needed to be removed and a giant oak tree that was getting destroyed by aphids. We also had a few trees in our backyard that needed to be taken care of. Mark is the owner, and is actually a neighbor of mine. He was able to let me know about his service and help me with my trees. Mark lives around the block. He is very respectful, personable, and I've never had any issues with him. Mark's tree service is very efficient. He showed up with his crew on time, and had all the equipment needed to do the job. He brought his wife the first time so I could meet her. The second time he worked on my trees, he just came to supervise, and was very helpful. The Oak tree in our front yard was totally over grown and had lots of broken branches. He recommended a person to give treatments to our Oak tree. The tree is very healthy now, and actually grew a lot. Taking care of trees is costly, which a lot of people don't know. So it's good when you trust the person working on your trees. Sure, you can have your handyman take a few whacks at them, but it's better to get the job done correctly. Mark is an arborist, so he really knows what he is doing. I'll definitely call him back. more

I had a good experience with Mortensen Tree Service. They removed about six trees from my backyard. It was five small trees and one large one. The whole service took about an hour and a half. Mr. Mortenson and two of his people helped with the service. They were very professional, personable and good at their jobs. They were also able to answer any questions I had.
