Moonie's Burger House

As newcomers to Leander, my family and I tried Moonie's one day and although the wait was a bit long that day, it was AWSOME!! We have now made it a regular weekly family meal out. The wait isn't always long, just on peak eating times and weekends. You can't get a better burger anywhere in Cedar Park/Leander...seriously! Plus the fries are sinnfully delicious. The buns alone (which are a little sweet and I think toasted on the grill) are worth any wait. My friends love the sweet potato fries, which I haven't tried yet. Come with an empty tummy and you will be full and happy when you leave this place. I wish I had one of their burgers RIGHT NOW!! WE HAVE EATEN HERE A FEW TIMES AND i HAVE GOT TO SAY IT IS MY FAVORITE HAMBURGER AND FRENCH FRIES AROUND. tHE PATTY IS VERY FLAVORFUL / SEASONED JUST RIGHT AND THE FRIES ARE REALLY GREAT. THEY STAYED CRUNCHY FOR MY ENTIRE MEAL WHICH IS KINDA UNUSUAL. THE BUN THEY USE IS ALSO VERY TASTY.THE ONLY BAD THING IS THAT IT GETS VERY CROWDED NOW BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE HAVE HEARD ABOUT THISPLACE. Okay, I know most of the other reviews would not support my opinion that the burgers are gross, but it's true. For the life of me, I can not figure out why most people think these burgers are good. My husband and I, based on all the good reviews, tried Moonies for the third time the other night. And our opinion was the same as it was the last time we ate there several months ago. THE BURGERS ARE GROSS. I think what people are responding to are the Hawaiian-roll-style, sweet burger buns. I've never developed this love of overpoweringly sugary things myself, but it appears to be a Southern thing. Think Krispy Kreme and Dr. Pepper! Anyway, back to the burgers. There's the super sugary roll, first off. This is a problem, since you can't really taste anything else. Some people describe these burgers as juicy. But as one other reviewer pointed out, they're not, they're dry. Note: Juicy is not the same as GREASY. And trust me, these burgers are downright greasy. They drip grease everywhere. You'll feel like you need a bath after eating one. The meat is dry and tasteless. Any Moonies lover reading this, I urge you to try something during your next visit. Take a piece of the patty and put it in your mouth with nothing else on it. You'll see what I'm talking about. Flavorless, dry, boring. The french fries, while good, are nothing out of the ordinary. They are your standard, frozen, crispy coated fry. In my opinion, all the good reviews boil down to one thing, love of the bun, not the actual burger. Pros: Honestly, I can't really think of one. We have been to Moonies several times and have always enjoyed the hand-made burgers. We have always received what we ordered so have never had any conflicts like the other reviewer. We find that my husband and I can share the 'special' which is a burger, fries and drink. more

Wow, where do I begin. My husband and I were in the Cedar Park area looking to see if we wanted to move there and he recommended a mom and pop burger place that he and his business partner ate at recently. It was awesome at first, there was a band playing, a real country place. Everything was going great until we got our food. I had ordered ""two teriyaki chicken sandwiches"" and we received two teriyaki burgers. My husband took them to the counter and told them the mistake and the teenager said no y'all ordered the Hawaiian burgers (how could she know, she wasn't there when we placed our order). After arguing with her for a minute, it continued on with the teenager that actually took our order. She said ""No you ordered the Hawaiian burger"" I said ""No I would never order a burger or say burger because I do not eat red meat."" This went on for a couple more minutes. Then I asked if there was a manager, a woman came over and said ""I think you just said Hawaiian or something like that, you actually did not say chicken."" Once again, how would she know, she wasn't standing there when we placed our order. I said ""No, I said I would like to order Two teriyaki chicken sandwiches"" We argued a couple more minutes and she got very angry and finally said ""Fine, but charge them the extra 65 cents."" It was somehow funny. The weirdest thing is they never flinched, they were not going to budge, they were right and that was it. Most waiters (my job during college) would say Oh, I am so sorry, what could I get you. Even if you think you heard one thing and the customer meant something else, you never know who was right. But these people never flinched or self doubted themselves. They were right and that was it, there was no room for error on their part. To me it seemed, this wasn't the first time they have done this. If you do go, make sure you know what they are writing down. What a shame, if this is a representation of Cedar Park, don't let anyone go into this place. Pros: Sandwiches were good, loved the band. Cons: We got stared down for the rest of our meal.
