Monticello Animal Hospital

I have been looking for an Avian Vet for my Parrots since my other one quit the practice. I took two of my Parrots there today, and was very impressed with the friendly staff! My Congo African Grey usually screams bloody murder when being groomed, but didn't let out a peep! I liked the gentleness that Dr. Wallis used in Grooming and toweling! I am very happy to have found them and highly recommend them! more

My dog had a seizure for the first time ever yesterday afternoon and I wanted a vet to see her as quickly as possible. My usual vet that I've used my whole life is about 30 minutes away (I just moved to Shawnee), but I knew this animal hospital was just a couple of blocks away from my house, so I took her there hoping they could have someone look at her asap and make sure she was going to be okay. My dog is literally like a child to me and seeing her like that freaked me out big time, so I showed up there sobbing and looking like a complete mess, but the receptionist was completely understanding and kind and got me into an exam room right away to fill out some basic paper work while the vet finshed with the appointment she was with at the time. I only had to wait about 10 minutes to see her and was happy to find that she was extremely gentle with my dog and very friendly and reassuring to me that she was going to be okay. She filled me in on what to do in the future if it should happen more

We bring our Pekingnese to get groomed and for all medical attention. She has a disabled back leg from birth and needs special care/consideration. Everyone from the receptionist, to the doctor, to the groomer show love to our dog every time we come. In fact our dog feels so much love at Monticello that she gets EXCITED when we tell her she is going to the vet/groomer. more

I have had a wonderful experiance with the vet tech and the dr. They have been wonderful to me and most of all to my dogs:) more

Our African Grey parrot, Louie, became very ill in the middle of the night. He literally was at death's door and we were calling everywhere trying to find someone who could see him at 3:00 AM!! An emergency 24x7 vet clinic near us did not have anyone available that could take care of a parrot. They recommended Monticello Animal Hospital. We called and left a voice mail around 2:30 AM. The vet called us back within just a few minutes and said that she would meet us at her clinic and see what she could do for Louie! We arrived there around 3:00 AM. She was able to administer an antibiotic and some fluids and said that we could take him to the Olathe Animal Hospital in a few hours when they opened, which we did. After 3 days in the hospital there, Louie came home. He is doing great now and back to normal - though we never did find out what was wrong with him! I credit Monticello for saving his life though - I believe that antibiotic and fluids she gave him made all the differenc more

We had a sick hamster. I am disabled with Lyme disease and can not afford much. However, my daughter of 10 has in the last 18 months had both great grandmothers die, an aunt, our cat and she is worried that I will die. \r She is ultra kind and sensitive to all the people and animals she encounters. We took the hamster to the monticello clinic they were kind and tried a procedure to make the animal better. \r The next day they called and said it was not working and the hamster, Teddy, needed to be put to sleep. \r I went to the clinic, the VET was genrous with her time, kind, and informative. She understood our financial situation and also made the bill very reasonable. I will take more of my pets to her adn would recommend her to ANYONE THAT NEEDS A GREAT VET. \r She sent foot prints in clay of the hamster adn my daughter was thrilled to recieve them.\r Just another way she showed her kindness. more
