I recommend Mom's Moving heartily. They moved my upright piano twice in the past year, even though piano-moving isn't their main thing, and I'm sure they'd plow through other moves. It was the best deal I could find (if I had a Steinway grand I probably would have to look for the best deal) and I called a good number of places. Dan is accommodating, friendly, interesting and tireless, and his staff was really nice, even on a grim and rainy Sunday morning. Good local business with a lot of local connections, they've been around a long time for a good reason. more

Mom's Moving was great! I had to move quickly and didn't have much time to pack my things beforehand. A friend referred me to them and Dan answered my call at 9PM and booked my move no problem. All charges were explained, which was very helpful since I had never moved before. Someone else mentioned Dan's slightly quirky ways, but also like they said, stick with it-he's so friendly and helpful and is always doing his best to accommodate you, even if it's at a disservice to him! On the day of the move, the guys that arrived were slightly late, but called to let me know. Everything was handled friendly and without complaint, even in my walk-up with no AC! I would definitely recommend Dan and Mom's Moving...he's a local business owner that will remember you and try his best to take care of you and your things. My good friend recommended this company to me, and they didn't let me down with my move. Dan, the owner, was accomodating and flexible - I changed the date three times. With his positive attitude, he really listened to my needs and worked fast and efficient tying up the couch to my SUV. I was surprised to see how clean and organized this man was, with boxes of tools and cleaning stuff. Dan is trustworthy. After telling me what to consider, he gave me a fair estimate for the piano move. And, you wouldn't believe it: I got two chairs for my new home for free... They always returned my calls! more

Moving is such a stressful and difficult process, but Mom's movers made our move so easy and stress free. They were truly great. The guys were on time and clearly did this day in and day out. The crew checked out our place at the start and then swung into action. They wrapped all of our belongings and furniture and were soooo careful with everything; they even wrapped our couches without being asked, and didn't charge us for it. They treated our belongings as if they were their own. Our movers were the nicest guys (Carmine, Matt and Steve) and totally professional and efficient. If I ever have to move again I definitely plan to choose Mom's movers, and have already started recommending them to family and friends. Thanks so much again for your help with our move! Mom's moving company showed up to move my house last week and I caught one of the movers, Tom, STEALING my credit cards! That's right, moving and packing wasn't hard enough, 100$/hour wasn't enough- these guys wanted my (maxed-out) credit cards too! The owner Gus's son, Tom was up in my kitchen going through my wallet and taking my cards when my partner found him. We paid them and sent them home. NEVER use this company. Being robbed by your movers is the worst! Go with Gentle Giant- I used them last time and they did a great job. Pros: none Cons: They steal more

Mom's was GREAT! Dan is a little wacky, but ride it out. We had three excellent movers (Steve, Walter, and Carmine) who got a tricky third-floor tiny windy stairs apartment moved out without damanging or losing a thing. Moved us into our new place in 30 minutes. MUCH lower quote/cost than Gentle Giant. Made a stressful event feel like it was under control. Used these guys based on the recommendation of a friend, who they really helped when she wasn't ready for the move. Suggestion: when talking with Dan, overestimate how much stuff you have and how long it will take, so you will have the size crew you need (two showed up initially and realized they needed a third and called Carmine in). more

Hired these guys for a small move, and it was the most chaotic complicated experience. I've moved 3 times in one year, and have used a number of fantastic companies--Gentle Giant, for example, who have been outstanding, professional and reliable. RUN from this company if you value your time, energy, personal belongings and your sanity! 1. Dan the owner had difficulty providing my request for a quote for job. It took approx 15 min to explain why I requested a quote, and it was as though he never heard of this practice. 2. I was completely flexible with the time they would show up and Dan moved the time several times, finallly settling on 3pm, which was ok...my only requirement was within that day. 3. I emailed him the address and information for the move and he called me several times asking me the same questions over and over about these details. He denied receiving emails , gave me an alternate address and when I forwarded them. He called and asked me again, in a very nervous way where the items being moved were going. He said this seemed "Sketchy." 4. Tried to cancel at 3pm when he called me. Told me he would then be late around an hour. At 4pm he called again and said, another 1/2hour. They arrived at 4:45 ( I am also editing out many of the details for lack of space). 5. The items were bing moved into storage which closed at 6pm. At this time, three men arrrived and they all were saying the would never make it to the location and they didn't realize where we were going. They then made phone calls and sat around waiting, to Dan to sort it out. Meanwhile the clock was ticking. They were also very very aggressive and bossy towards me. 6. They claimed Dan had no idea this was the planned location or that there was a time deadline--which I provided in the emails-several times. 7. They finally said they weren't going to do the job. Nothing was moved, I missed my deadline And then the owner called my delivery contact and tried to demand payment fro them! Pros: None Cons: Totally incompetent-should not be in business-owner and staff unprofessional. more

We used Mom's last year and had a very fast and effecient move. We used them again this year,Matt and Omar were two really great guys that moved our stuff carefully. It was a little pricey but what do you expect on the 31st of August. I'm guessing bad experiances with this company are due to not telling them exactly what you want. Good to move with if you are a student and have heavy furniture and boxes. When you call ask for Tifanny or Gus. Pros: nice and fun movers Cons: phone tag can be annoying more

First they sent a truck that was too small so they had to make 2 trips. At the end of the day they asked for a huge amount of money even though they sent a small truck which made the move longer and more stressful. As far as the price, I never paid nearly so much for a move before (and I moved last year so I know!). more

we budgeted for 3 guys, a fourth guy showed up and of course they said "this guy will actually save you money", so then they put me in the position of kicking out their friend or paying more money. You always have to coddle these guys or they will work slower, so what else could I do? They decided to use a smaller truck and make two trips instead of the larger truck with one trip: GREAT! I assumed insurance was covered, but when they show up on moving day they give you these complicated insurance options that nobody wants to think about at such a chaotic time.
