Read about Mojitos in the guide at the hotel, read a couple of reviews on this site (negative) but thought, it is in walking distance of the Marriott so we gave it a try. We were...

We've had great dinners at Xiomara and terrible experiences. When the service is off, it's way off--slow, inattentive and patronizing. Go on a weeknight, when the kitchen and the ...

The ambience was very good and the souffle is a definite must have! Too bad I didn't try the Mojito but the Cava was very good and sparkly! more

I really like this restaurant. More for mojitos than for food, but the latter isn't bad - only slightly on the pricey side. Mojitos at Xiom... more

Amazing 4/7/2004

This is one of my best finds, and I have many! The food in amazing even an 1 1/2 before closing. Hands down Xiomaras' Mojito is the best. Plan on having at least 2. The chocolate soffle' needs to be ordered in advance, so be prepared to wait 45min. The price is well worth the whole experience of oral pleasure, and romantic setting. I love the window seats. Make a reservation on weekends. Remember that I told you so! Pros: Great food, delicious mojito, romantic more

Time and money better spent on a PB & J 1/11/2004

emmam Provided by Partner
Initial expectations were met by the refreshing mojitos which wet out appetite while we waited for a LONG time for our food to arrive. After the server confirmed our order several times (almost getting it right ) the food FINALLY came. The lamb shank had a visually stimulating presentation. The overall meal was mediocre at best. The service (when there was any) was terrible. Overall, time would have been better off spent at home with a PB & J. Pros: Not crowded Cons: No Service, Over priced, Mediocre food more

Xiomara is tops in LA 1/18/2003

Xiomara is perhaps the finest dining experience in Pasadena, if not all of Los Angeles. The dishes are sublime -- tender beef, lamb, chicken, and fish sauteed, grilled, or cooked to perfection. The Lamb Shank in Iron Pot is partiuclarly memorable; it's a wonderful mix of lamb, vegetales, and flavors cooked deeply for hours in a sealed cast iron pot. Service is fantastic, except when they are a little bored and mull about too often. They shine on a buy night. Pros: Food, Service, Bar Cons: Parking, Price more

best MoJiTo in LA! 10/15/2002

I've tried mojitos from Asia de Cuba (which sucks) to small bars in Hollywood. Xiomara's proficient bartenders make a potent blend of bacardi light rum, crushed mint leaves, lime, and freshly ground sugar cane. Definitely worth the 8-9 bucks each grind. BTW, the food is also delicious. Pros: MoJiToS, MoJiToS, Happy Hour Cons: price more

Send you tastebuds on an adventure! 8/21/2002

Settled just a block away from Pasadena's historic 'Old Town' district, Xiomara's provides guests with an adventure in taste. Treat yourself to fresh sugar cane with a classic Mojito, while digging into a heaping iron plate of Paella. Make sure to order up a Budin de Pan, which is a souffle chocolate bread pudding served warm with Gavina coffee custard sauce...let your server know at the begining because it takes 45 minutes to cook! more

Mojitos Help You Forget the Service 5/20/2002

My best meals here have been variations on classic bistro fare, especially the marinated leg of pork. But the bad memory of the inattentive service lingers longer than the taste of the fine meal. It's worth a sit at the bar, though, just to watch them make mojitos from scratch -- which includes pressing the sugar cane. more

We've had great dinners at Xiomara and terrible experiences. When the service is off, it's way off--slow, inattentive and patronizing. Go on a weeknight, when the kitchen and the staff can handle the demand. Pros: inventive menu Cons: poor service more
