Editorial review from Citysearch 10/7/2014

Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home was recently acquired by a much smaller firm as a result of a divestiture required in conjunction with the former owner's merger with another large funeral corporation. The quality of customer service provided at the local level is a significant challenge for large companies of any type but especially for funeral operations. Until recently, most funeral homes were for the most part locally owned and operated. Since the owner was part of the hometown, he or she could more readily respond to the immediate needs and wishes of the families served and would be highly motivated to do so. Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, a completely separate company founded in 1953 that operates under the US tax code as a not for profit, is an example of a local company operated exclusively by local folks. The expectation is the funeral home will be operated in a similar fashion as other locally controlled companies since it is a much smaller firm than the previous parent company that operated the business. more

HORRID CUSTOMER SERVICE\r My father recently passed away and this funeral home was recommended to us but a family friend. We paid $4000 for a cremation not including burial. We had a few questions about the arrangements as the services approached so we called....and called....and called. After 10 plus attempts to find out what was going on I drove across town to there sister company (Radney Funeral Home) and asked. I wanted a break down in price and was told "That is just what we charge." by two different people. I was also told that everything was taken care of and we would be meet by the funeral director at the gate the morning of the service and they had no further information for me but "it will be fine". I told them that we had a few request and they told me they would have someone call me back. I never received a call back. The morning of the service everyone arrived at the front gate and no funeral director. It was a veterans cemetery so fortunately the VA had someone there to as more

HORRID CUSTOMER SERVICE My father recently passed away and this funeral home was recommended to us but a family friend. We paid $4000 for a cremation not including burial. We had a few questions about the arrangements as the services approached so we called....and called....and called. After 10 plus attempts to find out what was going on I drove across town to there sister company (Radney Funeral Home) and asked. I wanted a break down in price and was told ""That is just what we charge."" by two different people. I was also told that everything was taken care of and we would be meet by the funeral director at the gate the morning of the service and they had no further information for me but ""it will be fine"". I told them that we had a few request and they told me they would have someone call me back. I never received a call back. The morning of the service everyone arrived at the front gate and no funeral director. It was a veterans cemetery so fortunately the VA had someone there to assist us. The last person to arrive was the funeral director and he waves EVERYONE over to him and tells us ""he thinks he has everything"". He also has no idea what we wanted done. Most of this I could have forgive but as they were bring my fathers ashes to the service and folding the flag over the playing of TAPS all I could here was the funeral director standing 10 feet away holding a conversation with someone about someone they both knew. I would only recommend someone go to this place if they feel that they do not have enough stress after losing someone. They made a difficult time much much harder. I still to this day have not gotten a follow up call nor have I received a return call from my visit or my prior calls. more

All of my grandparents were buried here. The home took care of 2 of the services. The building is a tad musty and old. But it's nice they have the little kitchen area for smaller children during the family viewing time. Chapel is nice. Grounds are beautifully kept. My only complaint would be that their pre-paid services my familiy had set up did NOT include all services. That was a bit of a shocker. Make sure you go over the agreement multiple times. more

Please contact us if you need immediate assistance, or if you would like more information about our services. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home maintains a tradition of personal attention to our families' needs and individual desires. Whether choosing a traditional burial or cremation, we will help you create a perfect memorial that will reflect the individuality of your loved one. A funeral represents the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of a life that has been lived, and to expand on the meaning of that life with family and friends. We will handle the transportation logistics and help you with all arrangements.  Our funeral directors and staff here to offer guidance and address your questions and concerns about the funeral process during a most difficult time. Don't be afraid to ask us a lot of questions to be sure you know your options and understand the process. Many details have to be considered, and decisions made, in arranging a service, whether at the time of need or in advance. We at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home want to make it easier for you by providing helpful information.

We are trained to not only help you with arrangements, but to also be an advisor and supporter during your time of grief. We can assist you in coping with death and can even recommend sources of professional help.             There are many funeral service options available to families who select burial as the final disposition of their loved one. A traditional funeral service consists of a time for a private or public viewing of the deceased, a funeral service to remember and honor them, followed by a procession to the cemetery for a graveside ceremony to formally say goodbye. There are numerous variations by which to specifically tailor a funeral service to respect the wishes of your loved one and your family. Many of our families choose one of the following types of burial packages:

How are cremation services different from burial services? They are not necessarily. Services with cremation are the same as with earth burial, unless you prefer something different. You can have viewing and visitation arrangements, with an open or closed casket, or no casket at all, for as long or as short a period as you wish. Whatever you choose ? casket and burial or cremation ? family and friends need time to grieve and to say good-bye. This is the reason for funeral services ? to support the living through the pain and loneliness of loss to acceptance and resolution.

More and more people are realizing the thoughtfulness and practicality of planning their funerals in advance. At Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home we have two pre-planning options available to make a difficult time easier for your family.
