I had the worst experience with Mission Unity. I sent my son to their program from N.Y. and a $2000 money order made out to their program. I am a widower and the mother of eleven children, this money was actually the result of several family members coming together to help. We felt that if it could save his life the money would have been spent. My son had just completed a 28 day program and was going there for their Intensive Outpatient Program which is actually only 16 1 hour groups during that first month. Once he got down there the problems began. They tried to up sell us to the 28 day program which is $5,800 they claim this is a bargain because they charge some people/insurance companies more... like well over a thousand a day... I mention this for a reason I'll get back to that later. So even though my son had completed a 28 day program and when arrived tested clean for all illicit substances they tried to persuade me to pay for this 28 day program. Well, this wasn't an option for me, I simply did not have the funds. They said my son could stay for 10 days with the $2000 dollars in their 28 day program. Well that seemed foolish to me, I wanted him to move there and live in their transitional housing, of course you have to pay $2000 the first month but that was feasible at least. We told them our situation and they persuade my son to stay one night that they would refund the money if he chose to leave, which he did because we simply couldn't pay for it. Well I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND TO DATE! They tried to justify keeping the money because they charge well over a thousand a day to insurance companies as I said earlier! SINCE MY SON HAS LEFT THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED ANY OF MY CALLS OR RETURNED ANY OF MY MESSAGES! I never expected this to happen that these people who are supposed to be doing this good work could be so VILE! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEM THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE... THEY JUST TALK IT!\r
