Last night, I suggested this place to a friend because I had been once and loved the food. It's very hard to find authentic Southern food in L.A., and I had a huge craving for it...

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/5/2014

I've never actually been able to eat here. I'm writing this review about their customer service. I got a Groupon for them and it expired. When I went in to try and use it as cash they told me they wouldn't accept it for that. What they would do was give me half the 2 chicken meal. That's less money than the cash I had paid for the Groupon. Bad business. And illegal. more

Chicken and waffles and so much more. 10/23/2010

I recently had lunch with a friend at Miss Peaches in North Hollywood. Its a cute charming place with a really friendly staff. We both ordered chicken and waffles and shared some of the gooey butter cake, which tasted like a fluffy cheese cake. There were plenty of other things on the menu I would like to try so I will be back. Also, they have an area where you can sit outside. more

Delicious Southern done vegetarian style! 3/29/2010

I actually found this place while looking through CitySearch one day for a veg friendly place in NoHo. I never imagined I would find it in a Southern BBQ joint! Miss Peaches has BBQ for sure and I have heard it is amazing. But what drew me was the vegetarian side dishes! In fact all of the side dishes are made vegetarian style- including the collard greens and bakes beans. The flavors are amazing and well balanced- not too sweet or salty. The corn bread is crispy and slightly sweet, served hot and plentiful. You will not believe these sides are truly vegetarian but they are! Just ask the owner- he is the cook as well! Pros: Vegetarian sides and dishes! Family owned. Cons: Small dining area- no AC more

Memories of Home 12/30/2009

As 2009 ends, I wanted to say that one of my highlights for the year was finding Miss Peaches. I try to get there once or twice a week for all the down home cooking I miss from my childhood. Everything I have tried on the menu is fantastic. I especially like the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Another favorite meal is the 4 veggie combo. The mac & cheese is like no other. I ordered a gooey butter cake for Thanksgiving and everyone raved about it. I can't say enough about how wonderful the food is and everyone I take for lunch goes back on their own. Umm Umm Good!!! Pros: Vegetables cooked vegetarian style Cons: As they do catering, they are sometimes unexpectedly closed. more

Makes me feel right at home! 11/28/2009

SO...I was talking about being homesick and one of my friends suggested I visit Miss Peaches. Well...I have been here twice and am in LOVE!! Originally from Arkansas, it is hard to find good southern cooking out here...but I definitely found it at Miss Peaches. It feels like you are sitting in your momma's kitchen and you can't beat the sweet tea in mason jars!! Everything I have had is delicious. My favorites are the fried catfish (w/ plenty of hot sauce), string beans and the yams!! Oh and the cornbread muffins are great! The Red Velvet cake is WONDERFUL but nothing compares to the Gooey Butter cake!! SOOOO YUMMMMY!! Will definitely be back again...again....and again!!! Pros: Sweet Tea in Mason Jars, Gooey Butter Cake Cons: Limited Seating more

Yummmmmm! 6/12/2009

I had the catfish, greens, yams, and wow the desserts. Everything was amazing. We split the gooey butter cake and red velvet cake and I can't decide which was better. Will definitely go back! Pros: Delicious Cons: Can't think of any more

What a find! 6/11/2009

I just moved to North Hollywood from Oklahoma six months ago. Where I come from, there is no shortage of amazing barbeque, mouth-watering catfish, and one of the best soul food restaurants in the state is six blocks from where I grew up. This place is right up there with Kin Folks in Tulsa! We were looking for a place with fried chicken in our area, and we did a google search. Found these reviews and decided to try it! What a find! I had the Fried Chicken and my special lady-friend had the catsfish, which was the best thing at the table. The cornbread was also amazing. Aside from the food being great, the atmoshpere of the place is perfect. So small, there's nothing seperating the seating from the kitchen. The man who took care of us was so cool and friendly. It seriously felt like a small place you'd find back home and tell all your friends. Not like L.A. Cute and laid-back. And the prices were more than fair. It was a great experience and I will be going back soon. Pros: Amazing atmoshere, Delicious Southern Food more

Delicious Southern Cooking 6/11/2009

I'm from the south and my grandmother was an amazing cook. I would have to say Miss Peaches is by far the best Southern cooking I have tasted since coming out west. Their fried chicken was not to greasy, the greens and mashed potatoes were very tasty! The owner is a big ray of ""Sunshine""! He makes all of the desserts and they are amazing!! I had the Peach Cobbler and took a slice of the Red Velvet Cake to go. Very warm atmosphere.....Just like home! Pros: Fried Chicken was amazing, as was their desserts. more

Best Sock it To Me Cake in Town 6/9/2009

I love Miss Peaches fried catfish and chicken wings, and I loved the collard greens and yams, but when it came to the desserts, omg... the sock it to me cake is to die for. It is the best cake I have ever had! It makes you want to have dessert first then your entree. more

Wifey and I love it. 6/9/2009

Great cornbread but best part is the yams. Make sure you get that as one of your sides. The classic sides are greens and black eyed peas which they do perfectly. The meatloaf is perfect. I also like that I can see the whole kitchen from the dining area. Only a real fastidious crew dares to cook under those circumstances. JB Pros: Portions just right. Never leave hungry. Nothing wasted Cons: Ya, know. Lankershim... more

Healthy Southern Cooking 4/14/2009

The main courses are just like your mother used to make, but the sides are all made without meat. This makes for a healthier meal yet the flavor does not suffer, in fact it might even be better. You can bring your vegetarian friends because there is a choice of ordering just the meat free sides with his wonderful cornbread. The decadent desserts are made on site by the owner, the only problem trying to not order them all. The owner makes you feel as if you are sitting in his kitchen. It is like being invited to a party in his home hanging out with new friends. The restaurant is small and homey and a place I want to go to again and again. Pros: The food is less fatty than traditional Southern cooking Cons: You might have to wait for a table, but it is worth the wait more

Southern Comfort Food at its best!! 1/29/2009

A small but charming restaurant on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood, Miss Peaches is a a real find and treasure! The restaurant has a comfortable atomshphere, with the kitchen visible to the patrons. You can watch the staff prepare your meals!! The menu is an amazing collection of Southern dlights including several smothered dishes, fried chicken, hot links and sides like a wonderful macaroni and cheese!! All are freshly prepared and servied with cornbread. No matter how good the meals are, however, you have to leave room for desert! There is always a good selection from which to choose and, again, they are all prepared at the restaurant and vary from day to day. The red velvet cake is to die for!! Truly amazing!! And all of this great food is served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere where, after a few visits, the staff will recognize you and welcome you back when they see you coming through the door!! If you like Southern food, Miss Peaches should not be missed!!! more

Scrumptious southern food! 1/23/2009

This is our fave place to go for southern food, worth the drive to NoHo. The staff are helpful and relaxed, the music is cool, and then there is the food. Heavenly. We are trying to make our way through the entire menu and so far nothing has disappointed. Highlights are the fried chicken, smothered pork chop, catfish sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich which are allunreal, coleslaw is crisp, greens are fresh, sweet potatoe fries(which upon recommendation we dipped in honey-yum)gravy should be smothering everything {it is that great} and the gooey butter cake is a religious experience. But don't forget the lemon cake, moist and tart with a touch of sweetness. Also it's fun to wash it all down with a glass of Kool-Aid. When was the last time you did that? more

Could it be true- authentic Southern cuisine in LA? Yes and its fabulous!! 12/17/2008

Miss Peaches is hands down the only place I go to for authentic Southern food in Los Angeles! I am from the South and have had my share of great meals, but the fried chicken and baked beans at Miss Peaches take the cake. Its simply amazing! The staff always welcomes me and makes me feel right home. The homey atmosphere is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Overall my spot for comfort food or when I am in need of some good home cooking- complete with sweet tea! Love love love this place! Pros: food, staff, atmosphere Cons: NONE! more

Amazing!!!!!! 7/3/2008

I'm not much of a Soul Food fan ...or at least I thought. Being a typical white girl who eats the typical Californian healthy foods, I was in much protest of checking out Miss Peaches for a meal. After hearing about it for so long, a few celebrity friends convinced me to go. First of all let me tell you that I am the most picky eater out there. I don't really eat meat (don't like the taste), I don't like greasy foods, not too much this or that, etc., etc. I 'm even the type of person that pulls out the paper napkin to soak up any excess oil or grease. Well.....let me just say...""Ohhhh my God!!"" Talk about comfort food! This has to be the most amazing Soul Food I've ever eaten. I practically inhaled the Meat Loaf (and I don't like meat), the Cat Fish was amazing, and appeared to be baked (even though it was not). The Sweet Tea, Lemonade, Red Velvet Cake, Green Beans, Yams, etc......all top of the line! I took another ""California"", who told me that she does not like Red Velvet Cake (apparently no one can make it properly)....she was literally eating her words. I did not have the fried chicken, however, my friend appeared to be using the same Hoover Vacuum Cleaner that I use when I go to Miss Peaches. Have you ever had something sooo good that you keep eating it, even though your stuffed - well this is it. ........ Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!! Pros: Everything!! Cons: Nothing. more

Still the best! 7/3/2008

We live in Portland and hadn't been to Los Angeles for a bit over a year. With businesses going out of business lately we were delighted to find that Miss Peaches is not only still open but thriving compared to many others. We found the menu had been extended somewhat without removing our favorites. Each time my wife eats meatloaf I ask her how it compares to Connell's.( the owner)) No one comes close. I always have the catfish but this time I wanted to try something else and couldn't decide. I asked the extremely personable waitress to choose something for me. The best BBQ chicken I've ever eaten! Nothing pretentious in this pleasant little hole in the wall but the prices are fair and your tummy will thank you! Pros: Food, Service more

Great food, great service 6/16/2008

Paul was our chef and server for the day. His friendly and outgoing personality only added to one of the most amazing meals we've had in a very long time. Highly recommended. Pros: Fried chicken, hot links, baked beans, potato salad. Cons: None. more

Good food but unbelievably rude service 3/8/2008

Last night, I suggested this place to a friend because I had been once and loved the food. It's very hard to find authentic Southern food in L.A., and I had a huge craving for it. So, I spent time building up the place to my friend only to end up being extremely embarrassed by what took place. Pros: Food Cons: service, service, service more

BEST FRIED CHICKEN AND RED VELVET CAKE IN LOS ANGELES!!! 1/26/2008

We heard about this place from a co-worker. Went in on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy when we got there at 5:30 but the place sure came alive in a hurry. Our waitress was so nice. She didn't bother us too much and our order was taken right after we got our drinks. We had sweet tea which was nice, but different from normal ice tea. I ordered Fried Chicken and my wife had Pan Fried Red Snapper and shrimp. Pros: The food and music are fantastic. Cons: can't think of any... more

Slice of Southern food in North Hollywood 11/15/2007

I just had dinner at Miss Peaches in NoHo because my buddy had some odd craving for fried chicken and this place was mentioned on Citysearch. He went through the fried chicken like a hot knife through butter. I ordered the smothered pork chops and thought the gravy was great but I wished that the pork chop was a little more tender. We ended our meal with the gooey butter pie... oh man that was really rich. It was like a creme brulee pie. Pros: Good tasting comfort food and a very friendly staff. They cater too! Cons: Street parking only and only a few tables more
