I was both shocked and astonished to find Minute Maid Park makes no accommodation for large people for whom the regular seating and standing an entire game is an issue more

The Gift of Baseball 4/12/2010

If your mom is like mine, she will love to go to the game as a Mother's Day present. She's always cheering for the Astros and getting all decked out even while watching the TV screen. Why not treat her with tickets to the ball park? With a quick stop at one of the restaurants around and maybe a beer in the park, it is just an amazing combination of sports and relaxing. Also, it is much better in person, when you feel the spirit and energy come over you. It is still early in the season and the Astros can only get better and better. This is a very practical gift for a very practical woman. I love my mom and I know that she will love it, especially if the Astros pull off a win. Afterward, we can round out the evening by visiting the Discovery Green and relax in the park while the traffic clears out of downtown. Pros: Relaxing, Awesome Environment Cons: Parking more

Simply the Best in Baseball... 5/10/2009

I've had the oppurtunity to explore 20 different MLB parks over the past few years, and clearly the ""Juicebox"" is the best. Parking is as easy as any stadium that I've been to. During the summer it's not unusual for it to feel like 110 or 115, so the roof is very necessary. It's pleasant during April, so it's nice to enjoy baseball outdoors in Houston. It doesn't take long to figure out that the seats are quite small, which is a compromise for the new intimate ballparks. What really makes it the best are the Astros fans. They're loud, but not obnoxious or drunk- for the most part. When the roof is closed, there is no louder stadium in baseball. A visiting fan can easily enjoy a game without any hassle. Love to see all of the unusual fan clubs around the stadium as well. I disagree with all who complained about the price. You've got to be smart and plan for trips to any stadium. I've been there 6 times and everytime spent a reasonable amount of money. Yeah parking is expensive if you park across the street, but you can buy a MMP parking pass for $15 and that makes it sooo easy to get on 59 or 45. Just stop complaining about price. Yes tickets to the dome were cheap, but the food was the same price and tasted bad, and you HAD to pay $20 to park and still had to walk a mile across Reliant Park to get into the dome. Don't even get me started on how long it took to get out of that God forsaken parking lot!!! Pros: Parking, Atmosphere Cons: Size of seats, Screen is not HD more

Go 'Stros 7/3/2006

The Park never fails to show us a good time whether we win or lose....great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. For those who compain about prices, please try going to any other major league sporting venue...you'll notice every place is a little over the top these days. Minute Maid Park is clean, close to the action, modern, and the parking could be a heck of a lot worse!!!! Quit complaining and treat yourself to a game. more

Sweet!;) 4/5/2006

Minute Maid Park is sweet! Wherever you sit you really have a good view of the field and don't feel like you are miles away from the game like at the Dome. They have plenty of concession stands and gift shops. They usually have activities before and after the game that are interesting or involve the spectator. Also have ""freebies"" that are pretty cool for the first 10,000 to 15,000 fans etc. Ticket prices are very reasonable. The consessions offer pretty good food with a wide variety.Expensive though. If you sit too deep in right field you can't see the Nice BIG Scoreboard. I recommend sitting as close to the rail as you can wherever you sit. The Crawford Boxes are a plus! Have a great view as well as a great chance of catching a Home Run ball! Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, The Roof!!! Cons: No cup holders in most sections, Food&Beer Ex$pen$ive, Concourse a bit small more

To Do 4/1/2006

A Must-See in Houston, especially for any baseball fan! The baseball seats at the home plate entrance not only come in handy but are great for picture-taking! Pros: nearby parking, great concessions, outstanding venue Cons: small smoking area, somewhat expensive more

Another opinion 3/30/2006

Minute Maid Park is overall a great stadium. We have been season tocket holders since the joint opened. My biggest complaint is the lack of sufficient urinals! If you can't make it through the game, you just as well plan on missing an inning while waiting in line. The rumor is that the park is sitting on land owned by Ken Lay of Enron corruption fame. Evening sunsets make hard to see the first couple innings from the first base side. Pros: view, atmosphere Cons: politics, small seats more

Houston Got It Right With Minute Maid Park 8/5/2005

Houston has gone the extra mile to assure this multiple award-winning ballpark solidifies its designation as one of the most impressive ballparks. You are guaranteed to feel apart of the action with the upclose seating concept incorporated into every seat in the house. The manual, field level scoreboxes are a pleasant nostalgic throwback, complimented nicely by the massive, eye-catching scoreboard high in right field. Timelessly the Astros Red steam locamotive whistles across the left-field stadium wall, celebrating home team highlights. A spectacle made even more memorable by the adjacent tower of glass providing form (destinguished west face of Minute Maid Stadium) and function (providing well-incorporated source of natural light). Furthermore, the food here continues to receive praise as some of the best ballpark eats around. Few parks have so masterfully recreated the pure fan experience that has made the game America's favorite pastime and current day Astros fans very happy. Pros: Close Action Seating, Food, Design Cons: Parking more

Great Park 7/24/2003

I have been to many MLB parks and this one is way at the top of the list. The roof retracting in the middle of the game was great. The gift shop was awesome. YOu have great access to get autographs before the game(and Craig Biggio always signs before game). Staf is really friendly. Food choices were great. Yes it is expensive but all MLB park food is. Parking is only bad if you show up 5 minutes before game time. Enjoy this park Houston. It is one if not the best in baseball. Pros: Player Access, Gift Shop, Atmosphere more

Great Venue 1/11/2003

This a great stadium with unbelievable atmosphere. Anyone I have taken for the game (from Houston or elsewhere) loved it. It's awesome going to a game on a weeknight walking from your office downtown. For all those that complain about the parking and the expense of taking a group to a game, I truly believe it is due to skewed information on your part. Concessions are expensive, but better than the Astrodome. Tickets are reasonable and not higher most other ballparks. SRO (Standing Room Only) seats are always available for a few bucks. Parking is much better than the old dome and getting out of the area after the game is so easy with all the downtown exits. Pros: Downtown Location, Seats, Atmosphere Cons: Concession Prices more

the big orange 8/8/2002

One of the best teams in baseball deserve one of the best parks, and thats what the Astros have. Great views of the skyline in right field, cheap upper deck seats, and good food. Take ME out to the ball game! Pros: inexpensive, post game not crowded, good team Cons: food inconsistent, good seats are pricey more

Well worth a trip 8/8/2002

Being from NY, I am not an Astros fan, but I went to the game anyway to see the new ballpark. I was very impressed. Comfortable atmosphere, nice look to the park, and serves pretty good food for a ballpark. I hope we get a park as nice as this in NY someday soon. I have seen several reviews complaining about the prices, but they are no more expensive then the prices at Shea and Yankee stadiums. In all, it is a great place to see a game. more

Nice park 8/3/2002

It's a very nice stadium but it's very expencive. Food and things like that are outragous. Hard for a family to go there cheap. Parking can be hard to find too unless you get there early. Pros: Location, Views of the city, sightlines Cons: pricey, parking more

Rich mans Ballpark 7/13/2002

Yes this new Minute Maid Field is a nice and upclose ballpark. But it is a buisnessmans ballpark. I miss the dome, Home of the family can see a game at a reasonable price and still sit where you can see the game. We are a family of five and we could go to the dome and see a game and sit in the pavillion and actually see the players. And still be able to afford our house note when we got home. At minute maid park I took the family and got the same price tickets as the dome pavillion and We sat so high that my kids asked if there were players on the field. We just got back from Arlington field and for $36 we all five sat in the lowest row and watched a game from the outfield. . Pros: beautifull park, up close, Astros home. Cons: expensive, poor parking, no activities for kid more

Arlington? 7/12/2002

The reviewer who prefers the stRangers' park in Arlington clearly doesn't understand the fun of urban baseball. Arlington is a theme park atmosphere in the middle of nowhere. It's antiseptic and bland. Minute Maid Park is urban and cool, with the skyline over the left field wall, bars and restaurants in close proximity and a close, intimate feel. It's expensive, but fun. Oh...and all the (281)ers who complain about parking -- we who live in the city know our secret places to park downtown, so it's no problem. If you need a huge mall lot to feel comfortable, you should take your TGI Friday's mentality up to Arlington, where you'll find your own kind. Better yet, just stay in Ft. Bend County, where you belong. Pros: sight lines, urban environment, National League!!! Cons: price, short fence, fireworks in anthem more

Baseball Review 7/10/2002

Since the new stadium was built, the prices for the game tickets and especially in the concession stands have sky-rocketed. The average family with children can no longer afford ""a day at the park"". In addition, the parking situation in downtown Houston is unbelievable. I hate going to games there. more

Gotta Be Kidding!!!!! 7/10/2002

This ballpark kicks butt! I mean come on we have one of the most beautiful state of the art stadiums. Minute Maid Park is a deffinite place to go to check out the city. Pros: Downtown View, Great Team and Fans, Great Ballpark Period Cons: none, none, none more

Beautifully Quaint But... 7/10/2002

I like the stadium but like all forms of entertainment these days it is too pricey for the average family of 4. Some compromising by both owners and players needs to happen before all of this country's new venues are not big empty white elephants. Pros: brought renovation, aesthetically pleasin, real grass Cons: parking, price of an outing, exiting downtown more

Deep in the Heart of Texas 7/9/2002

Seats are too small and cramped. No leg room. Would have been nice to have built-in cup holders. Concessions are definitely an improvement from the Dome but would have prefered Blue Bell ice cream to the stuff they're serving now. I'm sick of the beer guys always blocking the isles. They should have planed for that better (i.e. bigger isles). Ruggles was a great idea. The field is awesome and you gotta love the retractable roof and naturall grass. Parking is much better than was at the Dome and the downtown atmosphere is great. However, the music played between innings is too loud and sometimes offensive. Understandably it would be impossible to play music to suit all, but at least turn it down some. But I do like ""Deep in the Heart of Texas"" in the 7th. Pros: retract roof/grass fd, good parking, ruggles Cons: cramped seating, beer guys in the way, music too loud more

average 7/8/2002

I think the ball park is ok. It is a pleasure to watch the Astros, but the parking is crazy. The food and drinks are outragely priced. more
