Since the new stadium was built, the prices for the game tickets and especially in the concession stands have sky-rocketed. The average family with children can no longer afford ...

Name sale cheapens great park 7/8/2002

The stadium is a wonderful addition (one of the few successes) to the downtown area. However, the name change makes it clear that Houston is for sale to the highest bidder. Ballparks should be more than billboards. Pros: cool design, people friendly, good parking Cons: hard to get to, stupid name, expensive more

Can you say disallusioned? 7/7/2002

For infrequent visitors and rich corporate seat holders, a trip to see the Astros is great! The park is lovely, Ruggles is super, and the experience is one to remember. HOWEVER, for us poor season ticket holders upstairs... well, it's not so hot. The experience has increasingly gotten worse by the year -- and this year by the game. The few concession stands they have (with minimal selections) are closed half of the time, usher's are spartanous, seats are closer together... I would think those of us who are loyal without the bankroll would be welcomed in a more fitting manner. Aren't the Astros supposed to be about the fans? They used to be. In summary, I guess what I am saying is this is the last ""season"" for this long-time fan. Pros: The Astros Cons: Money hugry managemen more

Minute Maid??? 7/7/2002

Come on, I know they needed a sponser but what the he!! kind of name is Minute Maid for a baseball park. Whats next change the team name to the Houston Maidens? Sheesh! Pros: open air, grass Cons: traffic, downtown, neiborhood more

While I hate the new name of the stadium (I hate to call it by it's official name, rather it's ""The Ballpark where the Astros play"") it is a wonderful venue to watch a baseball game. The food and beverages while very expensive are a lot better than at the Astrodome. And the parking is not nearly as bad as everyone once believe it would be. It is not inconceivable to get a parking space within 4 blocks of the stadium and pay $5-8. more

A Grand Slam 6/17/2002

This is a beautiful, state-of-the-art ballpark in a revitalizing downtown area. It has a cozy feel with all the amenities you could want. The colors, design, and special features are extraordinary. The view of downtown when the roof is open from, right field is awesome. Even if the game is slow, there is plenty to observe or do. I recommend taking in an Astros game to anyone coming to Houston - even if your not an Astros fan. Weekend games are more fun. This is my favorite ballpark in the U.S. Now if only they would have kept the name - Ballpark at Union Station or even Astros Field - Count me in as one who's not crazy about Minute Maid Park Overall, this is a GRAND SLAM of a park! more
