Terrible Service, especially daytime bartender 3/15/2012

Very rude staff. Had to ask 5 times (server & 2 separate bartenders) for a glass of hot water to warm up a bottle for a crying one month old. Got it a half hour later....by then, food was cold. They were not busy either. more

Watch Your Money 9/1/2011

Watch your money here, came here and got a beer and the bartender who didn't even serve me grabbed my money that I was going to use for more purchases. Manager didn't even care when I said something to him...I will not return...it had potential, but amazing how a thief can ruin that more

Great beer, great food, great service! 11/16/2009

Town Hall Brewery has one of the best brunches in the area. The caramel rolls are to die for. My family and I have been stopping here before the Gopher games. They are open for brunch Saturdays for home Gopher games and Sundays for home Vikings games. There is also a free shuttle to all home gopher games on the 7 corners, running every 15 minutes. Bonus for us. Included in their brunch is a beer, bloody mary or screwdriver. I ordered a Masala Mama IPA. Hands down one of the best IPA's! My husband had a tasty Hope and King Scotch Ale. Very nice brown ale. If your looking for a good breakfast place before a game, Town Hall Brewery is your stop. Their lunch/dinner is great too! After one of the games, we stopped in and had a couple beers and burgers. Our waitress greeted us with a warm smile and gave us great service (everytime). My husband had the 7 Corners Burger and raved about it the rest of the day. I had a wonderful Mango Shredded Chicken sandwich. Great beer, great service, great food and warm atmosphere. more

Poor service from bartenders and rude manager 10/11/2009

The beer is not worth the bad service here, and the manager was incredibly rude! Cons: Rude manager, poor service more

Pretty solid joint, only problem is very slow service 4/26/2008

I really like this place and I go there quite often. The beer is awesome and the food is solid. The only problem with the place is that the service is very slow. Just as one example, I went in for lunch one day when the entire place only had 2 or 3 other people in it - it took just over an hour to get in and out (without any appetizers or desserts or any hanging around after the check arrived). I will continue to return because I like it so much, but the slow service is pretty much a constant. So if you aren't in a hurry, then go for it - it is certainly one of the better places in the neighborhood. Pros: great beer; good patio Cons: slow service more

Horrible Service 6/16/2007

This place has fantastic beer but I gave it a low rating because I've been here several times and the service is never good. The waiters don't seem to care about giving you genuine service. On our last visit there was something wrong or bad in my drink and crusted food on the glass.. the manager actually came out to tell us why he wouldn't refund the drink. The whole atmosphere is very cheap and unfriendly and I would not recommend it for anything other than a beer. Pros: Beer Cons: Service, value, general attitude to customers more

Terrible, hostile service. 12/23/2006

I Went here to meet some friends, all of our first time being there. We just came for drinks and really enjoyed the beer. Hard to beat a really good stout for $2.75. The reason I am giving it a 3.5 is due to the service. My friend came in the night before, personally and reserved a table. This was for his post engagement party, so you'd think they'd make sure the table was reserved. We show up, they had no clue the table was reserved. I will also mention they were very slow seating us. Took over five mintues to even greet us. Our waitress we started with was nice and gave good service. Then she left or went on break, we were not sure since she never said anything. We were then helped by someone else. We had very poor service. He was near hostile. One of the drinks ordered had something wrong with it. A few of us tried it and agreed that it probably had bad pinapple juice in it. Our server took the drink and said ""Thats because its a bad drink"" and walked away. He finally came back and asked if we wanted a replacement. The drink was still charged on our bill. We all agreed, out of seven of us that the service was so bad that we had no interest in coming back to this place. Pros: Good cheap beer. Cons: Awful service. more

Best beer selection within 500 miles 7/7/2006

The regular beers here are incredible, the new menu is great, and the seasonal brews are always good. The brewmasters are not afraid to try out new things, either. They also have a really nice patio area. Best place for a beer that I have ever been to. Pros: Great selection of beers, something for everybody. Cons: None. more

I think the service is good, too! 10/26/2005

Maybe it's because when I am in town I'm a regular, or maybe I'm a regular in part because the service is good. They fire people who don't do a good job. The staff is friendly, funny, and knows their beer (and other selections). But it is first and foremost a place for great beers. The brewer does an excellent job of mixing very traditional styles with experimenting. They'll let you have a free taste if you're not sure if you'll like it, the prices are well below average, and you support local craftspeople. Pros: Value, Variety, Staff Cons: Traffic noise, if you sit on the, patio more

and a growler too 9/25/2005

it takes time to build a beer properly so knock off the slowness part, esp on Gopher game days. Masala Mama is a Beer Advocate Top 10 consistently, between that and the porter I am a happy happy camper. Food is decent. Wait staff nice but disorganized. oh, about the growlers that a big 64 oz. beer in a take home bottle, w/ a hefty deposit and reasonable price refills, not available on Sundays Pros: masala mama, growlers, value Cons: parking more

great beer! 7/12/2005

Didn't have any food, but the beer was unique & tasty Pros: Beer Cons: Parking more

#1 Brewpub in MPLS! 3/5/2005

Great beer and good barfood! Cask condition ales and great mix of rotating beers make this brewpub a great place to frequent if you're looking for great beer. The service seems to get worse every year, but is quickly forgotten when sipping on one of their fine ales. Pros: beer, seating, burger Cons: service, smoky more

Best Beer in the Twin Cities 7/28/2004

Consistently the best craft beer in the Twin Cities. The food is ""upscale bar food"", burgers and chicken sandwiches, in addition to a variety of pastas and dinner specials. Try the gyro. Its fantastic. The head brewer, Mike Hoops has a long list of awards from the Great American Beer Festival. The IPA is rated in the top 10 on Beer Advocate. Service is stepping up after a few years in decline. If you choose to sit on the patio, be patient. Tables tend to be unpredictable as large groups of people tend to sit outdoors. Also, servers must take your order, and cover a long distance to get to the computer inside to enter your order. Pros: Great Beer, great hangout more

Try it 9/8/2003

We dine out frequently and one of our favorite lunch spots is Town Hall. They have the best fries and, in terms of entrees, everyone I've eaten with has been very happy. (Collectively, we've had chips w/ homemade salsa, brew/veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches and other entrees.) I've only eaten lunch there and I'm not sure if the menu has been revamped since earlier reviews, but we definitely recommend Town Hall! Pros: The BEST fries, Outside seating, Good menu variety more

lousy hamburgers 5/26/2003

The beer is good, but the hamburgers were mediocre at best. No matter how we ordered them (well done thru medium), they all came out well dried and tough. But he fries were great. Crisp, hot, and salted with flakes of sea style salt, that gave them a nice crunch. And we were there on a Wednesday for lunch, and the place wasn't crowded, so there was no excuse for getting the burgers overcooked. Parking was a bit of a pain, if you tried to park on the street, requiring frequent trips to feed the meter. But there is a ramp just around the corner, so for $1/hour you can avoid that hassle. Pros: beer, beer, more beer Cons: on street parking, dry hamburgers more

Best Burgers, Good drinks 3/25/2003

For some reason, I am addicted to their cheeseburgers. They are really good. I get one with some BBQ on the side. The sauce has some of their brewed ale in it-it's wonderful. And for a brewpub, they make some excellent martinis. Nice crowd too. Not just hordes of college students. Summertime on the patio at Town Hall is the best! Pros: Burgers, Mixed Drinks Cons: Not enough seating more

Best beer around! 2/24/2003

Want good beer? Go to Town Hall. Mike brews the best around. From award winning regulars to seasonals on tap, you can't go wrong. The food is ok, the service could be better. But, for $2 pints at happy hour and an atmosphere that is warm and comfortable, you can't beat it!! I love coming to Town Hall! Pros: BEER, Atmosphere, Inexpensive Cons: Poor Service, OK Food more

Best beer here. 2/23/2003

Now that Sherlock's Home (the brewpub formerly located in Minnetonka) has closed, there's no place in the Twin Cities that serves better beer than the Town Hall. The bar also has decent appetizers, great burgers and pretty good service --> although it can be hard to track down a server when the weather is nice and the patio full. As others have noted, the main reason to come here is for the beer. For handcrafted ales, stouts and porters, the Town Hall is unbeatable for price, taste and selection. Pros: great outdoor seating, nice pool table, CHEAP happy hour Cons: spotty service more

Best brewpub around 2/18/2003

It is the best brewpub around, however that is not saying much. The food is average, nothing special, but you're coming here for the beer. Have been here three times, beer is consistently good, food is average. You're coming here for the beer though. The food is an afterthought, even with their revamped menu. Enjoy your beer! Pros: Best brewpub, Fresh beer Cons: Smoky at times, Loud often, Average food more

good beer, good times 11/8/2002

Town Hall is one of my favorite places to go relax with a coupld friends, have a beer and some appetizers. They have a great late night happy hour, pool tables, dart boards and a comfy couch in front of a large screen TV and fire. They also have outdoor seating when its warm. They have good martinis and the chocolate sticks that come with them are so yummy! Service is generally good and fast. It's not a wild time or a place to meet people, but good for those times you feel like going somewhere with a few friends to drink relatively cheaply and not worry about what you're wearing. Pros: happy hour specials, outdoor seating, not crowded more

  • In Short
The mood is nostalgic--vintage photographs, original tile floor, tin ceiling--and the crowd slightly upscale. But it's a grand place for a house-brewed beer, especially outside...
