Mimi's Cafe is a great place to eat. 12/15/2011

I have been there several times. The Waiters were excellent. Clam Chowder was best I have ever had. It is a classy place to eat and I would recommend them to a friend. And, No, I do not own stock in Mimi's Cafe and I do not know any one who works there personally. It was simply a nice place to eat. more

Worst food and Service Ever ! 10/19/2011

I took my daughters, and boyfriend there for a special birthday dinner for one of my daughters. None of the food came as it was supposed to...they left gravy off my daughters turkey dinner, and when asked waitress for gravy, she brought a cup of beef gravy ! Another entree should have had scallops in it...NONE to be found. The waitress was only there to put the food on the table and never even brought . Every order had something wrong with it, so the waitress made herself scarce...except to give the bill. I BEG you do not go here !!! HUGE waste of money, time, and food was NOT good ! more

Service,Management 7/23/2011

Service is poor, Management spends more time in the back of the house then the front. Servers spend more time socializing with one another then they do with their guest. I am amazed this place is still in business more

Good food, mediocre service 7/5/2010

We get seated quickly. After that, service is slow and seems disorganized. Sometimes worse than others. The menu is good and extensive. Pricing is good. Food is tasty and the staff is fairly friendly. The only reason we sometimes hesitate to go here is that we don't want to put up with the slow delivery of our food. Pros: Good salads, muffins, menu, pricing Cons: Slow service more

Female guests have to ask them to come back and do work. Not want to write down menu and did it anyway. Pros: other restaurants Cons: this restaurants more

Always A Great Choice 6/11/2009

I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mimi's and have always been very pleased. They have a nice variety, good atmosphere and very generous portions. As a matter of fact, for us girls, you could easily split a dish. Whenever someone asks me for a dining suggestion, I always send them to Mimi's first. Pros: Breakfast Lunch or Dinner Available Cons: Capital is always busy more

Not impressed 10/27/2008

We recently tried the new Cary location. After a day of shopping we stopped to eat around 4:30 - not usually a hectic time for retsuarants. There were hardly any patrons but our waitress was frazzled/forgetful, and some of our food was cold. My son had the chicken strips (kids menu) and they seemed ... old (dry and rubbery). We heard wonderful things about this restaurant from family in California so we couldn't wait to try it. We won't be going back. more

Unexpected Disappointment 7/21/2008

My husband and I went to the Cary location. I entered excited, but departed disappointed. I ordered the ""surf & turf,"" my food, steak and shrimp, was cold, however the salad & breads were tasty & the sweet tea wasn't sweet enough. If not for the salad and breads, I would have left hungry. The wait-staff was somewhat, lazy. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Pros: Parking was OK Cons: too noisy & too cold more

Work Out The Kinks!! 6/22/2008

Not impressed by this place AT ALL! We went with some friends on a Friday night and knew there would be a wait but to our surprise we were seated rather quickly. Boy, was it noisy!!! We didn't see any waitstaff for a good 5 minutes. When we did, we ordered a bottle of wine. Didn't see waitstaff again for another 15 minutes. We asked where our wine was, and could we possibly have some bread at the table. Didn't see waitstaff for another 10 minutes. We ordered our dinner. Dinner came in another 20 minutes, followed by the bread and the wine. All in all, the waitstaff was incredibly slow and unenthusiastic! Food was just okay. The chicken ceasar salad needs a bit more chicken fellows. It was ALL lettuce. Will not be returning! Pros: Seated quickly Cons: Adequate food, bad service more

Don't waste your money 6/12/2008

I've eaten at Mimi's a couple of times, and I have to say that both experiences have been horrible. Their waitstaff doesn't seem the least bit concerned about whether you are there or not. The food is mediocre, and it is certainly not worth what you pay for it. After the first bad experience (my food tasted like metal, so I sent it back, only to wait another 30 minutes for a dish that came out cold), I decided to give the restaurant another chance, but the second experience was even worse than the first. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your money and take it somewhere where the staff and management act like they care. Pros: ??? Cons: staff, food, prices more

kids friendly, interesting menu, went on mother's day 5/25/2008

If you want a noisy place that can really tolerate kids (other than outback, red robin, or applesbees type), has a ""mexican"" influenced menu (cliantro, salsa, avacado), interesting/new decor, also waiteresses were really flexible with the kids menu to include choc chip pancakes with fruit or applesauce and a drink/juice.\r \r Mother's day, yes a reduced menu, but my wife and I have the french toast with two eggs/bacon and juice or coffee included was about $7.29. This is soooo much better than a Denny's slam for $5.99 + either 2.25 for juice or 1..85 coffee. The waitresses here have on nice uniforms and pleasant attitudes. Also, we gotta find out how they do their bacon,, some sorta seasoning.\r \r Burger King breakfast for 4 is about $16-17\r Denny's four slams two with coffee and two with juice + tip = $37\r Mimi's two adults $9 and two kids $5 + tip = $34\r \r We think that it is decent food that is reasonably priced. Most places in the triangle cannot handle a crowd on anyday, let alone mother's day which is a big breakfast day. Our service on mother's day after a 20 minute wait was great.\r \r \r \r I had the breakfast burritto more

Mother's Day Disaster 5/11/2008

Do NOT take your mother out to eat at Mimi's on Mother's Day. I have eaten there several times and although their service is generally very lax, I accept that because I am fond of the food. My husband and children decided it would be the perfect place to take me for Mother's Day. Well, apparently their kitchen staff can't handle much of a crowd either because they decided to run a ""condensed"" menu for Mother's Day. If you've been to Mimi's you know they normally have a rather large menu with a vast array of different styles of food. Not on Mother's Day! They had a whole 3 appetizer's, 6 entrees of the homestyle variety (ie, chicken pie, beef roast, etc.), 2 sandwiches and 2 desserts to choose from. That's it!! That's all they had available for Mother's Day!! We had waited for an hour to be seated for this. We left and attempted to visit a few other restaurants but ended up coming home because of the long waits (we had already waited at Mimi's) and I cooked dinner at home. Happy Mother's Day!!\r \r Ok, apparently, in regards to the ""chicken pie"" and ""beef roast"" you can't type the word on this sight that begins with a ""p"", has an ""o"" in the middle, and a ""t"" at the end and is only 3 letters long. Great sensors guys! Pros: Food is good Cons: Service, management, mother's day menu, staff could care less that you are there! more

bland appetizers, ok service, and WAAAAY over priced!!! 5/5/2008

Me and my mom went to the new one in cary off of Walnut, and the appetizers didnt have much taste. the chicken tenders tasted like fried water, and the zucchini was just tasteless! The only good appetizer was the bread and spinach-artichoke dip. I have to say that the food we received as our meal was decent, although they had ran out of fettuccini, and then i was brought the wrong thing. The service was decent, not a very lively bunch of people though. All and all, i probably won't go again. I mean the pricing was OUTRAGEOUS for the quality of food. $48 for 2 people?!?!? REDICULOUS!! i honestly wouldn't reccommend this to anyone. Pros: strawberry lemonade Cons: price, appetizers & dead service more

GREAT Brunch 4/17/2008

i've never been to Mimi's for anything but brunch. how can you not love it? the French toast, pancake specials, and the omelet? they have a wide variety of food: quiche, omelet, eggs, sandwich, waffle, pancakes, muffins, toast etc. and certain dish come with freshly squeezed juice, and country style hash browns with red skin potatoes! Mimi's recently opened a restaurant by Cary Town Center on Walnut St. if you feel like having brunch and Brig's crowd give you a headache, Mimi's would be a great alternative. i have never had to wait for a table. the one across the street from Triangle Town Center has a charming outdoor patio. Pros: Great brunch Cons: cannot think of any for now more

Great food, okay prices. 4/12/2008

I really love the food here-great variety, taste, always something appealing. The service is usually good, but when it isn't it's really bad. Recommend the fried dill pickles, the blue cheese and walnut salad, the rueben, anything for breakfast. This isn't a place to take the fam for a reasonable dinner...the prices are kind of high, especially for drinks. Despite the cons we will keep coming back! Pros: GREAT food Cons: Service sometimes, prices for families more

Good service, Good variety of food 4/8/2008

I've read the 3 past reviews and was surprised. I guess I've just had really good luck. I've experienced none of the bad service ""ya all"" reported... quite the opposite. Staff has always been most kind, but then again, we usually come on a weekday just before closing (after our class). If there's any sort of problem, they take care of it (cold fries were replaced with hot ones, free bread (good bread!) is immediately replaced, drinks are immediately replenished...). Only problem is their LOUD and HORRIBLE jazz music, the kind of jazz where they have three different notes per second and that's supposed to be cool. That, and they charged $7.99 for a small salad.\r \r Sidenote: You know how they have ""Non-Smoking"" sections? I wish they had ""Non-Baby"" sections. Pros: Great variety of food, Good service Cons: Music too loud, Small salad too expensive more

Good food, poor service and management 8/13/2007

We have eaten here twice. Both times it was slow to get seated and slow for the initial wait service, but the wait staff was attentive once service began. The food is pretty good quality. However, the management is unpleasant. The first time we ate outside with our 5 lb dog, the waitress brought us water for him in a styrofoam container (this made me love the restaurant in spite of the initially slow service). So, the following week, we returned for dinner. It was 105 degrees (dog was still in tow), so we opted to sit outside. After a few minutes waiting at the hostess station to be seated, we were very pleasantly led outside to a table by a charming high school-age girl. While browsing our menus, the blonde floor manager came out and told us rather rudely that we would have to leave - the dog was not allowed on the property. When I asked why as we had eaten before with the dog outside, she replied that it wouldn't be ""sanitary"" if other guests were eating outside. Well, it was 105, felt like 115, we were sweltering, who else would sit outside (unless they had a dog)? Rather than suggest politely and kindly that we get take out and apologize for the inconvenience, the woman just got an attitude and left. I ended up getting take out anyway (the food is not bad), but will never return to that store due to the inhospitable management. Totally inconsistent and unpleasant to the customer. Pros: food is tasty, although muffins are a bit sweet and dishes can be salty. Cons: takes forever to get seated, the management is unpleasant and rude, rules inconsistent more

West coast or East, same service ie mediocre at best! 8/8/2007

Visted Mimi's from time to time while living in so.cal and was pleased with the atmosphere and the quality of the menu items. However the service was spotty at best. They always seemed to employ high school aged wait staff supervised by same or not at all. Not good. Having several years and 3000 miles of separation between our last visit to a Mimi's we were somewhat excited at the prospect of the chain coming here to north Raleigh. I mean the service issue had to be a southern California thing right? Wrong! I am sorry to say that this is one area in which they are consistent. We have visited them on four occasions and found the service to be identical to that of our previous west cost experience. Specifically; inattentive wait staff(carrying on personal conversations with each other while customers go unattended), long waits for the food and of course the obvious lack of any management in the service area. Its a shame but at these prices there are better alternatives. Pros: Menu, Atmosphere Cons: Service more

New Choice in family dining with inadequate on-site management 5/29/2007

Great menu. Nice atmosphere in a great location. Food was good too. Unfortunately....here's the scenario we endured during Sunday brunch. \r During a visit we descreetly informed the blond female Manager on duty of a concern we noticed in the restaurant's bathroom. We thought the tip would allow them to address the crawling creature begins with an r and ends with an h before another customer saw it. \r Too which she immediately responded (before sending staff to ck) they were ""a new building (hello we know that's why we CAME IN) and there was no way there was r_ _ _h in the bathrm!""\r Totally ticked off we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt she was being defensive.\r But she made matters worse by snarling at the back of my husband as he walked away. She also was sharing her unprofessional comments with her staff standing by her. Great mentoring!! She's sending the message to her wait staff if a customer complains or has a comment nip it in the bud and call him a liar.\r However, we did notify upper-management who responded immediately with an apology. However, we simply will exercise our rights to not return while this person is on duty. Pros: New choice in dining with good menu Cons: On-site Management more
