Milanese Italian Restaurant

With so many Italian restaurants to choose from in Poughkeepsie, I have to say the Milanese is the best. I ordered the eggplant parm. and it came out piping hot and with the cheese still bubbling.....i'm getting hungry thinking about it! more

I am Italian and I do not like eating italian food outside of the home becdause AI am always disappointed. But The Milanese restaurant is simply Fabulous! I Highly recommend the Chicken Francese....Excellent! more

I was sad moving away from NYC, Little Italy was simply the best. Then I discovered Milanese. I am in heaven. We dine there frequently, have parties and gathering there, they couldnt be more helpful, and treat us as family. I recently host a post wedding family party there as well. 6 Adults dinned here on a saturday night - between appatizers, dinner, deserts and drinks the whole bill was amazingly inexpensive. SO much so we left the waiter a generous tip we almost felt guilty considering what we usualy pay in some of the so called finner restraunts. I dated someone that turned me on to this place and I fell in love. Not only was the atmosphere homey and welcoming but the food is superb. I consider myself a tremendous cook - but this is awesome italian quisine and an early very ""checkerboard table cloth"" style. If you want great food at a terrific price - go to the Milanese. I've been eating here since i was a little boy back in the 70's, the veal is incredible!!! I know for a fact that the veal is butchered from a whole leg of veal right in there kitchen! Because I was invited into the kitchen a few times by the owner (Santino) while he skillfully slices tender pieces of veal from the leg, then he takes the shank from the same leg he just butchered and makes fresh Osso Buco which coincidentally is my favorite dish! I've had Osso buco in alot of other places but the best I've EVER had and still do when i'm lucky enough to get it, (because i guess only two pieces can be made for every leg he butchers, so they go fast:)) is at the Milanese!!!
