I would like it if Mike's Auto Service was more economical, but I know that if Mike says I need something done on my car, it needs to be done. I never have questions or doubts about if I am being taken for a ride; I trust what Mike says. He thinks about what I will need for my car, and in the long term he makes me happy as a customer. I have been using Mike's Auto Service for close to 10 years. Every time I bring in my vehicles, either for services or repairs, I never have any problems. Now I have 2 newer cars that they maintain for me, but they have done all sorts of work in the past. Mike's Auto might not be the cheapest place, but they have great value for the money. more

We have a 2005 Toyota 4runner that we brought to the dealership for repairs, but we were very unhappy with the service. We brought it to Mike's Auto Service, and they fixed all the issues with the car. We have been bringing it back to them ever since. It has been a little over a year now, and though at first Mike's Auto fixed our fairly big issues, now they do all the routine maintenance as well. Mike has been my mechanic since 1996. I initially found him on cartalk.com and saw that he had glowing reviews. I had bought a Cadillac off lease and was looking to find a mechanic other than the dealership, which was killing me on repairs. Mike's Auto Service worked on the Cadillac and fixed everything that went wrong with it. I never had to go back for the same thing twice. I am a gear head and used to do all of my own maintenance, but have some physical disabilities that prevent me from doing that now. I trust Mike and the mechanics who work at Mike's Auto Service. They are professional, straightforward, and ASE-certified. They always do what they say they will. Over the years, they have worked on at least 5 cars for me and as many as 7. Everything has been outstanding. All of Mike's work is first-rate. Also, he will tell you if you need something done and tell you what you do not need to do. He does not waste your money, which is completely refreshing. I have already recommended Mike to 3 neighbors and they have all "converted" to using his service now. I feel that I can trust them when they tell me what my car needs. I have even brought them a used car that I was thinking of buying and Mike was completely honest with me about it. They have done both maintenance and repair work for us over the years. They are accommodating in terms of scheduling me in for an appointment, which I appreciate. Mike was recommended to me about 10 or 15 years ago by my female mechanic, Boomer. I have continued to use Mike's Auto Service over the years because I like the personal connection and I appreciate being treated like an intelligent human being who can understand what they are talking about and what needs to be done. They are very personable, professional, and helpful. They often have one of their employees drive me home or pick me up if I am without a ride. They have done some substantial work for me over the years and I have always been pleased with everything. Once, when the job was more complex than what they could do, Mike was straightforward and suggested that I take the car to the dealership where it was under warranty. Another thing that I appreciate about Mike's is that they have honored an oil-change plan that I have had with them for several years. Even when I got a new car and expected that it would not apply to the plan we had, they continued to honor the plan. I definitely recommend Mike's Auto Service. I have been using Mike's Auto Service for 2 or 3 years now, mostly for repair work on my engine. I continue to use them because they are thorough and they explain things well. They usually solve the problem pretty effectively and I always trust them. I would definitely recommend Mike's. more

My experience with Mike's Auto Service over the last 4 years has been great. They are the only shop that works on my car, a 1996 Oldmobile Aurora, and it is running well. They are always friendly and courteous, and they call me before they do any work on my car to let me know how much it is going to cost, which I appreciate. Mike's has done a variety of maintenance and repair work for me, from replacing the brakes and the air conditioning unit to the engine coil and serpentine belt. They do good work and they stand by it. They are honest and reputable. They are not trying to make a quick dollar. If there is nothing wrong with your car, they will tell you that. They do not try to detect a problem. They also will tell you if they do not know what is wrong. For example, when my serpentine belt went out, the car was making a loud noise. When I took it to Mike's, the noise stopped -- it was acting fine for them and they could not detect the problem. They told me to bring it back when it made the noise. I did, and they discovered that it was the serpentine belt. Interestingly, it was another local mechanic that initially recommended Mike's Auto Service because it was closer to me than their shop. Mike's Auto Service just finished working on my car, which is almost 15 years old, and it runs like new now. It was a big job that included replacing the air conditioning, and I am very happy with the work that they did. I first used them when my muffler fell down on the street on my way home from work. I stopped at their shop and Mike squeezed me in. They did a fantastic job fixing the muffler. I have been using them ever since, for everything from tune-ups to brake jobs. They are excellent people -- very nice, polite and professional. Every time I go there, they ask me if I need a ride and make sure that I have a way home. I know that I can trust Mike's Auto Service. Even if there are other places that are cheaper, I prefer to pay a little more for my car to be in good condition. Jose Machado more

Terrible! I used this company for a free oil change per a friend's recommendation. The standard oil change for them costs $34.95 (labor is $9.75 and parts are $25.50). I had an appointment for one morning and when they told me they were understaffed and that I'd have to wait a long time, I offered to come in the next day. While doing my oil change they came to me and asked if I wanted a new air filter and new cabin air filter. I have paid for air filter replacement at MANY other places in the past and I've also done it myself. It's simple. When they gave me my bill for $134.00 (!!!!) I was VERY shocked and upset. They charged me $77 for the air filters and $49.50 for LABOR. (Remember my oil change was free!) When I voiced my concerns about these prices over the phone the owner kept trying to tell me that they were fair and actually said to me, ""What the hell is wrong with you?"" and hung up on me! I will NEVER go here again. more

On January 7, 2008 my vehicle's windshield wipers simply stopped working. The motor was dead. It was a snowstorm so I had no choice to take it to a ""AAA Approved"" auto repair service near where my car broke down, in Somerville, MA.\r \r When I arrived they told me that it would cost $49.00 just to look at my vehicle. Later that day they called me and said the wiper tranmission failed and it would cost over $350.00 to repair. I did not agree to them repairing my vehicle, paid the $49.00 and brought my car to a more local place on the South Shore, their mechanics told me that it was NOT the transmission and it was a simple readjustment that would cost me a mere $30.00!!!!!\r \r Mike's is a rip off. I would not recommend anyone going there. more
