We originally used Mike Jones Floor in our house in Dormont. Mike did a beautiful job on the whole house. When we went to sell the house is sold in 5 days I believe the stunning job on the floors played an important role in the sale. more

I've had a mixed experience with Mike Jones Floor Company. He has done two refinishing jobs for me, both in Upper St. Clair. The first was in an approximately 50-year-old house we lived in for 13 years. Mike refinished the oak floors there before we moved in, and they were absolutely beautiful for the entire 13 years. Then we moved to a house in the same neighborhood. This house is also about 50 years old. Mike refinished these floors before we moved in as well. But on moving day we noticed that the floors seemed dull and were scratching easily. So I called Mike. He came out in a few days and agreed that we had to put another coat of polyurethane on the floors - apparently they were so old and dry that they needed more than the two coats he used. Painfully for us, this meant removing ALL the furniture, which we had just paid a moving company to move and place. I don't often give top ratings as I believe a professional's average service should be top notch, but Mike Jones Floor Company has done two jobs for me. Each were approximately 1000 sq ft and covered at least 4 rooms. One was in my home, the other in a rental unit I own. In both cases, they provided accurate and competitive esitmates quickly, scheduled the work around my own schedule and completed it on time with no problems. Having redone wood floors myself, I know how incredibly dusty the work can be. In both cases, Jones left virtually no dust. The finished product in both cases was excellent: very even finish, no markings at all on the walls or base boards, and no evidence that they'd even been on site (other than the finished work, obviously). Mike Jones Floor Co recently did the floors in our Family Room and our Nursery. We had torn up carpet in our 95 year old house and found oak and pine floors respectively. My husband and I did our best to remove the linoleum and newspaper from the floor in the Nursery but it still looked pretty bad. In the Family room there were many spots of water damage and pet stains. Mike Jones Floor Co was able to restore both floors beautifully, in spite of the less than ideal condition. Mike Jones has just finished removing carpet and sanding and finishing our living room, dining room, stairway and upper hallway floors. In every respect from the detailed estimate, to the actual work (totally dust free), to the moving furniture back to it's original setting their work was outstanding. Mike's son Michael oversaw every aspect of the work giving personal attention to guaranteeing a professional job. They treated our home as if it were there own. They did a fantastic job on refinishing the original hard wood floors in our upstairs and downstairs hallways. And out of all the estimates we received, they were the most reasonable!\r \r They came in and did the job while we were away on vacation. They are local boys so we knew we could trust them. :) We left the color of the stain up to them, I just wanted each level of the house to look like they blended into the other hardwood floors in the rooms that were connected to the hallway...they EXCEEDED my expectations.\r \r I'm sorry to review the few poor reviews here, and felt obligated to put down that they gave outstanding service and quality in their work!\r \r THANKS MIKE JONES! more

Mike Jones Floor Co. acted as a subcontractor on our kitchen/family remodel. Several of my neighbors have used them, so I was expecting a quality job. Unfortunately, I was wrong. First of all, they neglected to put the top layer on my floors and then, when it was pointed out by our contractor, came unannounced while my husband was recovering from surgery.\r \r They came back with an appt a few weeks later, but refused to move my kitchen table. ( My contractor suggested that I have them help me turn it over and lay it across the benches in my nook). They put the finish under my kitchen table without moving it and only went as far as they could reach without moving the table. Now, I have a very thick puddle of hardened varnish at one end of my dining area. My contractor contacted them and told them to come back. Thus far, Mike Jones Floor Co. has avoided me. I had Mike Jones come to give an estimate of 3 rooms that I wanted to have done. He said he wouldn't recommend the bathroom, so he was going to do two rooms. I asked when he would call me to let me know the estimate and he said, " in a couple of days." 25 days (exactly) after he came to look at my floors, he still hadn't called to give me the estimate. I called the office and spoke to the receptionist. She took down my contact info after commenting that 25 days was a long time for him not to have gotten back to me. She said she would have him call me. It has been another 9 days and nothing. Sadly because he came highly recommended to us from neighbors and friends. Mike Jones is a second generation floor sander and runs his own company. There speciality is refinishing hardwood floors and work in both homes and businesses. Our home required not only sanding, but repairing many holes left by the previous owner. Because we own an older home which had quarter swan hardwood, the missing pieces could only be replaced from wood taken from another older home. Mike's company not only found matching wood, but their replacement was so well done, the places where plywood had once stood out are not even visible. We had to move out while they did three rooms at a time, but it was worth the effort - not only in price, but in quality as well. Highly recommended. PROS: Excellent quality work, reasonable rates.
