The dental providers are adequate but the customer service is horrible. As a returning patient, I was almost not allowed to make an appointment because I didn't have my insurance...

Caring and competent dentists and staff 5/6/2011

I am very picky about my health care. I expect to be educated and informed about procedures, fees and alternate options. I have received all of these from Dr James and his staff. Dr. James took quite a bit of time to explain a grinding habit. He showed me the detrimental results and educated me on likely causes and ways to prevent more damage. Fees are presented in a very concise way, leaving no room for unexpted expenses. I feel fortunate to have found this office through the recommendation of two co-workers and will pass their recommendation along to all who will listen. more

MADA for all your dental needs 5/2/2011

\r \r I have been with this office for meny years and I am very happy with the doctors and staff. Dr James is my general dentist, he usually takes care of most of my dental care but if I need a specialist then he would refer me to a specialist within the practice which is very convenient. The staff is very knowledgeable. I do feel that I am getting the best dental care at MADA. \r more

Great Office and Friendly Staff 4/12/2011

I have been a patient of Michigan Avenue Dental Associates for over 10 years and find the office to be very professional and they certainly are there to help.\r Having lost a crown and letting it go for a while, I started having quite a bit of pain and also some swelling. Of course, I called the office in a panic. The friendly front office staff got me in the same day I called and the specialist was able to perform the root canal the same day. I now have no pain, a new crown, and also a lot of respect for everyone and everything that has been done to help me. I will be keeping my appointments with both Dr. James and the hygientist.. I even got a free toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. more

Wonderful doctors and pleasant staff. Highly recommended 3/25/2010

They identified problems that I could even see, once they were made odvious to me, that my previous dentist overlooked. They solved my bleeding gum problem with the proper treatments unlike my pervious dentist who just polished my teeth with tooth paste, scraped them alittle and told me to floss more. \r I liked having their specialists in the same office.\r Dr, James identified my problem of clenching which was giving me headaches, but I did not connect the two, and he made me a special dental applicance, not the type I bought for myself at the drug store that didn't work and I wasted my money on, that I now wear at night and my headaches I suffered from for years went away. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I cracked a back tooth and they put a crown on it. That went well. Thank you again. Everything they did ended up being done well, looking good and working nicely. So I highly recommened the office to anyone seeking sophisticated dental treatments who wants good care. Pros: The doctors are very sophisticated and skilled. Cons: Cost. But my wife's hairdresser charges more. more

GREAT DENTAL OFFICE 11/2/2009

Wow! I was impressed from my first visit to the day I walked out with my ""Perfect"" smile. Making an appointment was easy and the staff at the front desk was super friendly. When I got to the office, the receptionists were friendly and efficient. I didn't wait long to see the dentist, Dr. James. I was referred to him by my parents and some friends of theirs. He was friendly, professional and and most importantly he earned my trust by being straight forward, honest in his comments, and ethical. Dr. James performed excellent dental work on me. I needed two crowns on two of my front teeth. These teeth were short and stubby from birth and I have always wanted to get them to look normal. Working with the in house orthodontist they moved the two teeth into the center of the space and then Dr. James covered them over with two all porcelain beautiful crowns. I am very upset at my HMO insurance which listed crowns as a covered expense on the pamphlet I got from work, but in the fine print in the pamphlets the dentists get, states they don't cover crowns needed for any reason other than decay. But I was told about this limitation up front on a treatment plan the assistants presented to me before we started the work. It all worked out beautifully!! I look great! Thank you Dr. James!! You have changed my life. And for that I will be referring my fiends and family to you for ever. \r Pros: Friendly dentists and great location more

Deserves NO stars! 3/3/2009

Totally agree with every other review about this place. Pressure you into getting very expensive services not covered by insurance. Won't even do a simple teeth cleaning. more

I am required to give it at least one star.... 10/24/2008

I normally wouldn't write a bad review on a place, but my experience here was awful, to say the least. For it being around for ""over 100 years"" and for the price, you would expect service to match, but they definitely don't deliver the goods. Not only did it cost me about $500 more than expected to get a tooth pulled over 10 weeks ago, I am still in pain and just recently realized that a piece of my jaw bone is sticking out! In the ""instructions"" they gave me it mentioned that after three days of getting the tooth pulled, the pain should fade away, and they gave me something equivalent to one 500mg Aleve (I take stronger medication for a headache) and sent me home. The pain did NOT go away, and an awful taste coming out of the hole sent me back and I ended up having Dry Socket (to which they mentioned, but did nothing about. I did my own home remedy to fight the pain until finally my gum started to heal over) and a cracked jaw (which CAN happen when getting a tooth pulled, but in addition to everything else it just seemed like the icing on the preverbial cake). Then they ""required"" a teeth cleaning to ""fight infection"" which ended up being $100 worth of teeth brushing and flossing I could have done at home! It took her ten minutes and I did not have that ""just left the dentist"" clean feeling that you'd expect! Needless to say it was an all around bad experience and would not recommend my worst enemy to go there. Pros: They gave me a free bottled water and childs tooth brush Cons: Everything else. more

Don't go here! They overbilled us $1k and still haven't been reimbursed. 11/27/2007

I concur with the other user. My husband went to them for a crown and they ended up billing us over $1,600 total, even after insurance. When my husband called to try and figure out why it was so radically more than the estimate they gave him in the beginning, the billing person chewed him out and tried to badger him into paying the bill or it would be turned over to collections. He didn't, and I called our insurance company, only to find out that they were indeed overcharging us by at least $1,000 after the co-pays. When I called the office and spoke to someone in billing, I called them on what they were doing, and told them exactly what the insurance company said. All of the sudden, they ""realized"" that they were billing incorrectly, and promised to have the office manager refund us the difference. Still waiting on that - I was told that we would be sent the $600 we were owed ""when she got a chance"" Gee, thanks. By the way, my husband's tooth still hurts, but he sure as heck isn't going back there again to get it fixed. FYI - If you look these guys up under the BB Bureau you'll find that they have had 8 complaints against them in 36 months and the bureau advises not doing business with them. Wish we had looked them up before. Cons: Billing, customer service more

Unethical dentist 7/12/2007

Do not use this dentist! They tack on expensive ""elective"" procedures that are not covered by insurance to your bill. They use high pressure sales tactics to force you to to run up huge bills. Their billing dept is inept and do not understand how to process insurance claims. more
