Good Sushi - Expensive Sushi 8/14/2010

The place is small and not all that impressive from the street. The sushi is really good, probably some of the best in the valley, but it is on the expensive side too. Parking is a nightmare in the evening. more

I Love Sushi! 7/22/2010

If you like hand rolled sushi and authentic Japanese food then Michi Sushi is your place! They proudly serve Sake either hot or cold. My favorite is their Dynamite Roll. If they served tempura shoe I would probably eat it, and thoroughly enjoy it as well! They have fantastic appetizers and the service is great. You are kindly greeted the moment you walk in the door and the splendid customer service never subsides. I would recommend this to anyone in the world. Pros: Sushi. Cons: Uncomfortable Chairs more

The BEST sushi place 7/13/2010

If you are looking for sushi in the San Jose area, Michi Sushi is the place to go. You can pretty much get just about anything you can imagine. While the menu is quite extensive, the sushi chefs have a wide menu that is not even listed, all you have to do is ask. I would highly recommend the rainbow roll and batman roll. They do not use imitation crab and their rolls are not overstuffed with ingredients. Michi Sushi is one of the last places left in the area which allows you to decorate your own sake wooden bowl in which you can store at the restaurant and use every time you visit (and believe me, you will visit more than once). Best sushi in San Jose, hand’s down. Pros: Crazy sushi Cons: Expensive more

Michi review not from family or staff 10/30/2009

We lived in Tokyo while i worked in Japan, and we came to understand sushi well. It is delicate, bite-sized art. It can at times be very expensive in the very fanciest places, but often isn't so bad on our wallet in the less touristy parts. Last I checked, Campbell was not exactly a mecca for big dollar tourism. Michi Sushi is absurd. It is on Winchester, and not the nicer part, and yet they ask silly prices for the food they offer. Nobu sushi, located in Vegas or Honolulu or NY, one of the (if not the) most well known sushi chefs has sushi in their high class restaurants priced far less than what these guys charge in good old Campbell. Look it up. This is a rip-off. I will say the staff are very nice, and the attended parking lot was sort of helpful (but they didn't even park our car, just hung on to the key and expected a tip for that). save your hard earned dollars for that trip to and then try awesome, authentic sushi for the same price as this. in the meanwhile don't be a sucker. Pros: parking, fish quality Cons: ridiculous prices ($16 rolls!) more

MY FAAAAAVORITE!!!!! WHAT UP MR SHIN!! 6/21/2007

This place is by far my favorite sushi, and one of the funnest places to go for a good dinner with friends. if your a couple... sit at the bar and take sake shots with the chefs! Sake BOms galore... but that is NOT what makes this place fabulous...thats what makes it FUN!\r What makes it Fabulous is the extrordinarly GREAT SUSHI. IT MAGNIFICENT> HUGE ROLLS with all the best ingredients... Im a snob when it comes to food... and i always loved sush... but now, I pretty much don't like many places becuase... ITS JUST NOT AS GOOD AS MICHI... Michi means the way to Heaven (thats what the owner Mr Shin said one night).. when you eat this sushi you will think your in Heaven. its trully that good... \r go ahead, have a great time, order sake bombs, greet the owner and order some great rolls... OR tell the chef what you like, and he'll design one for you!!!!\r for beginers, ill recomend (everything is good) se#-related names: CLimax, CLIMAX 3, Booty booty roll, or my first ever : SE# AND SE#Y ROLL!!!\r \r -Arturo Pros: GREAT FOOD, FUN atmosphere Cons: long wait if you want to sit at the bar on a Friday night more

Number 1 for sushi Rolls 9/7/2006

""About 6 years ago I was driving down Winchester blvd and saw this line of people going into Michi Sushi so we stopped went in and had by far some of the best Sushi rolls in all of the U.S. I have been to many Sushi bars and by far Michi is much better than others in the area. Mr Shin the owner is so warm and happy it's like a big happy family and every time we go he brings us a complimentary appetizer. The sushi chefs are fun and I've never had a problem. All of the Sushi is fresh and big even one roll would fill you up. If you go on a Friday get there early so you don't have to wait for a seat."" Pros: Thumbs way up more

Over 100 different rolls 7/22/2006

Let me start by saying that if you are looking for traditional Japanese fare, this might not be the place for you. However, if you like raw fish, you are set. It is a great place for lunch or dinner, reservations recommended. The sushi is fresh and comes in good sized portions. I eat there 2-3 times a month and it has yet to disappoint. Mr Shin is a nice and friendly guy, the staff is very friendly and mostly efficient, the food...it is so damn good, I can't think of how to describe it. My girlfriend used to dislike sushi, but this changed her mind. Pros: Everything except parking Cons: Parking more

This is where you need to be for Sushi!!! 5/17/2006

This is now one of my favorite sushi restaurants! I met with a friend and another couple that eat there all the time. The sushi menu is so overwhelming. They have so many rolls to choose from. Plus a dinner menu too! The rolls are a little expensive but they give you a lot. Every roll that I had was so tasty! This was worth every penny I had the Cherry Blossom and the RNS was one of my favorites!!! Staff was really friendly and quick service. Keep up the good work and see you soon! Pros: GREAT SUSHI, GREAT STAFF, SERVICE more

Rolls Galore 12/22/2005

Michi's has the best rolls I've ever had. Never had their entree..why would you? Forget the ever popular (and boring) rainbow, dragon, catapillar, and spider. The portions are nice and big, usually 4-8 pieces to a roll. Fair warning, it can get expensive. For 2 people, three rolls to share are plenty. Some notable mentions: November 7th, Climax, Second Climax, Blanca Cherry Blossom, Blonde Bombshell. I love the macadamia nuts on top. Fresh, unique, delicious! Pros: Sashimi, Rolls Cons: Slightly pricey, Small more

wow 11/8/2005

omg the food is great. The sushi men are terrific, and the waot staff isn't to bad, atleast the non asain ladies, do very well. The fish is the freshest i've ever tasted, i've been around the world and never tasted anything so frsh and goo. Also they have a great variety, and great owner/chef. It is my favorite place to eat in the bay area. Pros: great sushi-men, great fish and rolls, great sauces Cons: work on wait staff more

Look no further for FRESH sushi! 10/21/2005

Other reviewers may gripe about pricey rolls... but how many places can you go where they have such HUGE cuts of actual FRESH fish? I say the money is well worth it. If you do a side-by-side comparison, you get way more for your money here. Keep in mind... fish costs more than rice... AND their rolls are still huge, meaning they don't over-compensate w/ rice. I think it's a total value considering the portions of fish, let alone the freshness factor. If you like Blowfish, I scoff. That is not sushi, it's paper-thin fish acting as sashimi. Try this if you're really into fresh FRESH real FAT fish! try it!! Pros: Fresh sushi!, Fat cuts of fish!, Tons of rolls! Cons: Out of the way, Slow service at times, Long wait sometimes more

quirky 9/8/2005

This restaurant is unique and quirky with very helpful and friendly staff. The sushi, miso, and potstickers are very good, however the rolls are way expensive. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Although the sushi rolls are expensive, I would come here again. Pros: wide selection Cons: expensive more

Sticker Shock 7/1/2005

There were so many rolls that it was very hard to decide. I would recommend the Ichy Michi. That was a good one. We must have tried about 4 rolls along with our dinner. The miso soup was pretty good because it wasn't too salty like the other Japanese places. I did find the rolls expensive though. It was like sticker shock when you look at the daily specials or the menu and see $20 rolls. The good thing about their rolls at Michi is that there is little rice so that means they don't skimp out on the fish. I found the sashi platter to be only ok. The food was decent/above average compared to other places, but I found the prices to be a lot higher than most places. It is kind of surprising because from the outside, the place just seems like a hole in the wall. Pros: big rolls Cons: Slow Service, Little parking, expensive more

The Best Rolls in the Bay Area 8/19/2004

The sushi at Michi's is the best in the Bay Area hands down. The rolls they have, over 100, are super tasty and really fresh...of course I only tried maybe like 10 of them. Even though the owner is Korean I talked with him and he worked and trained for several years under the guidance of a Japanese restaurant. The food is a bit pricey but thats expected for food of this quality. Also the rolls are quite generous not only in taste but in how big and filling they are. The place is a little small so expect to wait a little bit especially during weekend dinnertime. Trust me, once you had some of their rolls you will be coming back. The friendly staff and excellent food makes this a great restaurant. Highly recommended! Pros: freshness of fish, food, selection of rolls Cons: , a bit pricey more

Best Sushi in the Valley 6/5/2002

The BEST sushi in the Valley! Always the freshes fish and over 150 fabulous rolls. They've also got a full dinner menu. Sit at the bar to get the best view of the fun behind the sushi bar. Pros: excellent quality, wide variety of rolls more
