Look no further. i have been to all the top acting schools in los angeles and i feel that this is by far the best acting school headed by a top acting coach michelle danner. there is a reason she is a acting coach to the stars!! just took her golden box intensive and it was amazing!! i first got aquainted with the studio when i was forced by my roommate to check out their free info session. i got to meet with michelle and learn about all the classes plus checked out how beautiful the acting school was. i started with their 3 month conservatory at first but after a month realized this was the place for me so i joined instead their on year conservatory.\r \r michelle danner (and all the other teachers of the studio) are all excellent. \r \r Why is this acting school amazing?\r * Small class sizes = everyone gets to work\r \r * Instructors who tell you exactly what you need to hear to become a better actor (again, no BS or sugar coating! I can't count the number of times I've left class feeling destroyed but have heard exactly what I need to hear in order to become a better actor) \r \r * one stop shop in the sense that you will be able to take a plethora of classes:from acting for film, improvisation, voice and speech, accent reduction, script analysis, scene study, casting director workshops ect... \r \r * be part of a Community of artists filmmakers and actors all sharing the same passion and dedication to excellence!! \r more

The Golden Box two day seminar is an absolute must for any actor seeking inspiration! It is taught by Michelle Danner the artistic director of Michelle Danner's Los Angeles Acting Studio. The seminar is a fantastic way to improve your acting skill set over a weekend. I'm a big note taker, but Michelle Danner has so many inspirational quotes, I filled up several pages in my acting notebook. I'm going to share a few with you:\r \r ""Theatre is a process, so give yourself the time and freedom to take the journey with your character."" \r \r ""The Wider the goal posts, the better the game."" - Judy Dench. This quote was taken from a documentary we viewed during the seminar. To me, it means the more life experience an actor has, the more potential that actor has to do great things on stage."" \r \r Take this class! It will open you up and adjust your ability to perceive scripts in a better way.\r more

This is a short review of their info session about the classes they offer at the school.\r \r The info session happens at 1030am until roughly 1230pm on Thursdays. The session is free and you have to bring a headshot and resume (if you have one). You will be given an info packet to take home, and as a group you'll go through the different classes they offer, opportunities that often come from the classes and you are able to ask whatever questions you like.\r \r The woman presenting the coursework, Alexandra, is very friendly and outgoing. In the middle of the presentation there's a short break followed by a meet and greet with Michelle - who runs the center - who assesses what your goals are and makes notes on your pictures about what she thinks might be good for your level and career desires.\r \r Both women talk about the philosophy of the school and offer some fun anecdotes along the way. At the end of the session you are able to go up to their office and sign up for classes, find out what Michelle recommends for you or simple get more info about their schedule.\r \r The vibe of the school is very friendly and exciting. They seem passionate about actors who want to work and create and don't give the impression that they're just trying to extort you for money in exchange for a prestigious school name on your training resume. \r \r Classes seem to fill up fast so check it out!\r more

I love The Acting Studio at the Edgemar Center for the Arts. There are several excellent teachers, who specialize in a variety of subjects, acting classes: scene study, voice, on-camera, improv & others. I received loads of useful info from every class. All the instructors at The Acting Studio impress me. They sponsor international students on the M1 visa. It is easy to see why this acting studio has a reputation for being one of the best acting schools in Los Angeles. more

The environment established by Michelle Danner) and my classmates has invigorated a desire to continually grow as an artist and be unwavering in my commitment to excellence in my work. I didn't just learn at The Acting Studio at Edgemar Center for the Arts; I found a deeper desire to grow stronger artistically, professionally and personally. Michelle Danner's ""Golden Box"" workshop was transformational. I left that workshop with energy pulsing through my whole body, I haven't felt that artistically alive in a long time. Christine Dunford teaches an amazing voice class at Edgemar. We are learning how to speak with a clear, free, strong, emotionally connected voice. She is also an incredible scene study teacher. Her insight and generosity is unparalleled. I would recommend this studio to any actor who wants quality classes, with awesome teachers! more

The Edgemar Center for the Arts has it all, amazing teachers, lots of options for class scheduling, and a beautiful location. Michelle Danner is an encyclopedia of acting. You will learn the tools you need to do great work. Michelle takes the best elements from great teachers like Stanislavsky, Stella Adler, and Sanford Meiser and teaches you how to access your emotions on the spot. She will be personally invested in your success, as she is with all her students. Christine Dunford teaches several classes as well, including voice and scene study. I have taken each of the classes and found them both to be very helpful and informative. Even Brad Garrett has taught classes here. From improv to on-camera, scene study to voice - this place is full of classes to select from for any level of actor. more

I have reached depths in my acting, while studying with Michelle Danner (Edgemar Center, formerly called Larry Moss Studio) that I didn't previously know existed. My imagination has opened up new worlds to me! I have found, through the teaching of this amazing top Hollywood acting coach, a profound awareness of the world around me. I now have an understanding of human behavior that is invaluable. I know how to break the script down, analyze it, humanize it, invest in it and grow from it. And I learned these skills in Michelle's Golden Box seminar and scene study class. I remember studying at other respected schools where, if the actor didn't get the instructors' teaching, it meant they had no talent. I've now realized those teachers just weren't very good. But in Michelle's classes, every major acting method is taught (including The Meisner technique, the Stanislavsky Technique, and Lee Strasberg Method) and you use what works FOR YOU.\r I studied with many respected acting teachers before Michelle - but there is simply no comparison to depth of the teaching that comes from Michelle Danner. more

I'm a character actor from Europe. It was SO REFRESHING to hone the art of acting with a school that respects it and takes it seriously, like an art.  Since I'll never book a leading man kind of role (let's face it the market for short fat and hairy dudes is not too keen) I HAVE to be on top of my craft to book work. That's what the acting studio at Edgemar delivered to me.  Michelle Danner's golden box, the scene study courses, the on camera w/ Marek Probost and Doug Kaback. All Amazing and I'm a really hard sell. I love the fact that this school doesn’t limit your education to a single technique like the Sanford Meisner technique, or Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler’s techniques. You just don't run into many schools in the states that want to improve you as an artist and not just a plastic receptacle that delivers lines. Such a marvelous experience. more

I just took Michelle Danners Golden Box intensive in Sydney this past weekends, and I am so thankful. I came into class on Saturday not knowing exactly what to expect, but I can promise you that I left on Sunday afternoon having learnt so much, concepts that I can't wait to put into practice. Michelle Danner is a lovely and beautiful woman, and it was really an honour to meet her and to sit in the room with her. Wow... this place is beautiful. There is an art gallery in the lobby and 2 theatres. The main stage seats 99 people. Some might think the theatres are a little on the small side, but that's what makes them so great. The entire audience can get involved with the show! No one is sitting in the rafters wondering what to eat next Tuesday because the audience is so close to the action they can't ignore it. \r \r Edgemar also looks exceptionally nice compared to many other small theatres. It looks like it should be running in the big leagues, really. I have no idea how much this place costs, but it's got to be one pretty penny. It's in Santa Monica- so rent is outrageous already- and on top of that lights, production cost, employees, advertising, and Stella Adler graduates for teachers? I'd have to say it's a place I'd spend a pretty penny! Quality is what you buy there, and you experience nothing less. \r more

Michelle Danner is the best acting teacher I have ever studied with. The level of respect I have for her teaching only increases the more I spend time in her scene study class (at the Edgemar Center). Never before have I felt more empowered and inspired as a performing artist. I walk away from every single acting class, lecture or workshop with a new insight or tool that I can actually use in my acting. My previous training mostly provided just an intellectual analysis of playing actions and visualizing objectives or super-objectives - at this famous acting school, I am getting so much more. Michelle's unique work, coupled with her obsession for the educational gifts of her predecessors, give you the tools to create an effective and powerful world to deeply involve yourself in. And as she often says in class, 'Involvement is the antidote to bad acting.' I have gotten so much from this teacher. more

This is a stellar acting school. I work with Michelle Danner her method is extremely powerful, not only for actors but for writers and directors as well. After attending an informational session I enrolled in her class and she instantly clarified vague ideas I had heard from every acting class before her: She provided an opportunity to acquire a real set of skills that I would be able to reproduce at will. I signed up for her 6 month well rounded acting program, where I practiced my on camera , improv, voice, sitcom comedy and scene study skills. I now feel much more in control of my process. One thing that I especially admire about Miss Danner is that she challenges you and her feedback is keen and on the money. She works intuitively and is approachable in addition to being an excellent acting coach, which is why so many Oscar winners go to her. more

Training with Michelle Danner at this premier acting school of L.A., has boosted my confidence in my acting technique a thousand times over. The tools and techniques I've learned allow me to walk into an audition and enter an imaginary reality in seconds. My imagination is far more available to me. While I learned some similar techniques while training at the New Actor's Workshop, the way Michelle Danner teaches enables me to ""get there"" in less than half the time; her teaching is very individualized. Her ability to see where you are in your process and assign you specific exercises and work based on that, as opposed to having the same approach for every actor, makes her an extraordinary teacher. Time after time, I've seen her assign an exercise to an actor, in the middle of working a scene, that instantly reveals a psychological or emotional block that was operating on an unconscious level in that actor. Her perceptive is intuitive, and most of all, she is passionately committed to helping her students cultivate their craft. If you are serious about having a career in this field, you should seriously consider studying acting with Michelle Danner at this top-notch acting school of L.A. \r \r more

I have been fortunate enough to see a few productions at the Edgemar Center for the Arts, and I can say without question that the environment is nothing short of special.There are two theaters on site, a larger 99 seat theater as well as a smaller more intimate 65 seat theater. The 65 seat theater though smaller, allows for a more intimate experience for both the audience and the performers. The 99 seat theater also doubles as a screening room for new films including “Hello Herman”, directed by Edgemar’s own Michelle Danner. The walls of the lobby area are adorned with the artwork of Sid Maurer, whose portraits pay homage to some of the world’s greatest entertainers, and are available for purchase to visitors of the center. In addition to the many original plays that you can see running on either stage at Edgemar, they also offer a catalog of acting courses designed to help beginner and veteran actors alike maximize their potential. Whether you are a theater goer, a movie enthusiast, or an aspiring actor, The Edgemar Center for the Arts has something for everyone. more

“ Michelle Danner can turn anyone into an extremely skilled actor. Her knowledge of various acting techniques gives her students many tools to help them create strong and intriguing characters. One of the best things about Michelle Danner's class is that she incorporates all the great acting techniques into her teaching. Personally, I still have my work cut out for me. I haven't even begun to chip the surface of all the exercises that Michelle Danner has to offer, buI know she has put me on the right path. I have become much more confident as an actor. I can approach my work in a methodical way by using various tools to make a great performance. I love Michelle's class. She requires and expects all of her students to work hard --but she really gives a lot, too. Her classes are not for the lazy, but for people who are serious about the art of acting. If you are looking for a great professional place to work on your acting process and tools, whether you are a beginner or have been performing for years, I think that Michelle's scene study class at her top Los Angeles acting school is a great place to do it. “ more

I've done some regular practice private coaching with Michelle Danner and also when I had challenging auditions coming up. \r (This was at the acting studio at Edgemar Center after they changed the name from The LarryMoss Studio.) Seriously,\r she rekindled my love for acting by pushing me to takerisks. She showed me that acting isn't a torturous profession \r but a creative one, and once I made that distinction, it became a pleasurable one. I had been struggling with some things, \r and these private coaching sessions really gave meclarity. more

I saw a play at Edgemar Center they have 2 thaeters, and I was impressed by the show and my experience here so much that I came back and signed up for acting classes at the Acting Studio with Michelle Dannner. I just started taking improve. I love it! The actors in the class are a lot of fun to work with, and the games are great! I am also taking the auditioning for the camera with michelle danner. She is such a nice person! and gives out a good balance of positive and critical feedback. I like the scenes she's had us perform and all the physical and vocal warm-ups. I'm not in Brad Garrett's (from Everybody Loves Raymond) sitcom class, but I heard he's a fabulous teacher. I was invited to the final class/showcase, and I was extremely impressed. He is teaching another class soon, and I hope I'll be able to take it! \r \r \r more

This Los Angeles Acting School encompasses the following acting techniques: Meisner, Strasberg, Adler, Hagen, Chekov, & the Stanislavsky Technique.
