After looking at different photographers work something about Michael Roud's pictures kept bringing me back to him. His work definitely stands out among the rest, he has a professional eye for what makes you look your best and truthful (not just someone who takes pics with different color backdrops)! Michael and his makeup artist Karen were great providing a stress free environment to make you the most comfortable and not feel rushed, if something was off they changed it and fixed it effectively to make sure you get your best original shots. You wont have to worry about the prior or next client having similar photos unless its quality which he brings to all his sessions. Just shot my session and I couldn't be more satisfied. Finally I have head shots that look like "ME" cant wait to put them to use, and cant wait to shoot with him again. more

Getting headshots, for most actors, can be an overwhelming experience. Most of us prefer to perform for motion pictures instead of stills, so there's a little bit of nervousness that comes along with having to get headshots taken. After all, these are an actor's calling card. I knew Michael was a great headshot photographer; I've seen his portfolio. What I didn't realize was how A) nice, B) knowledgeable, and C) professional he actually was until I got to his studio. The experience was the most in-depth photo shoots that I have ever been on...and I've been on many over the years. Karin, the make up artist was definitely money well spent. Her ability to provide that support, and keep me looking like myself, is where many make up artists fall short. The results? Well, I can't argue with the results. I have a great deal of photos to choose from, making the selection process extremely hard. Michael and Karin helped in selecting which shots would work the best as headshots (not just a nice pic). I definitely will recommend him and look forward to shooting with him again in the future. more

We are happy with the service from Michael Roud Photography. We have a publication, and we change the publisher every year. We have experience with Michael and so he did the new image for 2001. He also put together our initial Christmas image. We have used a lot of photographers before, and the reason we continue with Michael Roud Photography is because I like his approach. He has a more modern and current approach. There are a lot of other photographers, but most of them are more old school. Michael is part of the new generation that has a little bit of a different type of work. He is outstanding in the profession because of his understanding of what today's new customer wants. He is not boring. more

I came to Michael Roud for headshots based on a referral and after viewing his website. His photos really capture the subject's eyes and draw you in and this was exactly what I wanted in my headshots. His studio is located in a very nice part of town with ample parking. His helpers were extremely nice and made me feel very comfortable as they all worked together to help me relax and get the shots I wanted. Michael stepped in and showed me body posturing and how to hold my head during the session so that my facial features were prominently displayed and my pictures had a life to them. When he snapped a shot he particularly liked he would run up and show me on his camera which kept my energy level up during the shoot. Instead of constantly snapping away, Michael allowed me to look around and then when I was ready I would look toward the camera and he would grab some shots. This method proved very effective for me as it kept me from getting burned-out. After my session we had a "viewing party" where Michael and his helpers went through my shots and helped me narrow them down to somewhere in the 20's to show my agents. This saved me a ton of time and self-criticism. I left his studio with a CD of all my shots with separate folders for the ones we picked (print size and web size), an up-and-running on-line gallery for my agents, and an email with a few shots so I could immediately show my friends right from my phone. Michael really understands lighting and he will set up the perfect lighting for you which works hand-in-hand with the makeup artist and his camera settings which results in the best headshots you will every have. A lot of factors needed to be considered as I began my search for a head-shot photographer. Price, location and the photographers portfolio. I spent three days researching before making my decision and, after seeing Michael's sample pictures, I had to reassess price and location. I looked at a lot of really good head-shots but Michael's were so far superior to what I considered second best that I decided to spend the extra money and travel the extra miles. It was well worth it. The shoot was no different from any other. Michael is very nice and personable. He picked great outfits and we shot in natural light in three different locations. All within walking distance of his studio. I was not disappointed. I don't know how he does it but the results are far superior to any other head-shots I have ever taken. I have never recommended any photographer before this but i strongly recommend Michael. more

I've never written a review before, but I felt compelled. I just finished a headshot photography session with Michael Roud and I could NOT be happier with the results! My experience with Michael Roud was the perfect head shot experience. It was efficient in that as soon as I got there we discussed what my goals were, what I wanted to accomplish with the photos, based on my type and the agency I work with. Michael took everything into consideration before choosing wardrobe, and I could see his mind spinning on how he could get the best shots for my needs. He was so helpful to me, because he was very matter of fact to me about what I needed to do , to show myself off. Helped me recognize the angles that work best for my facial structure. Things I should already know, but never had anyone say...hey when you do that you're hiding your strengths. I've never been this excited about my headshots as I am with the ones I got with Michael! Michael was able to give me something that no other photog has done before, and that is give me pictures that capture my essence, look like me, and most importantly really pop!
