I went to Heidi for extentions and color. She really isn't very friendly at all---but she does think she's quite special. What a disappointment! She's way overpriced for her skill level. This salon has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I've ever seen!! She's the manager---what an awful example she sets! TRUST ME---DON'T GO HERE!!! more

Get that pampered feeling and look great at the same time. I felt like a princess and will go back. Clean and up to date salon. more

THE ONLY REASON I AM GIVING ONE STAR IS BECAUSE I HAVE TO INORDER TO PUBLISH MY REVIEW BUT REALLY I WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE IT THAT. I called about wanting to set up an appointment for a trial run to get my hair done for my wedding. On the website it says includes advance appointment for trial run and has a price of $85 and up. I was told the price of $100 which I was perfectly okay with then I was told it would also be $100 for the day of the wedding. I told the person who answered the phone that is not what your website says; it says the price includes the trial run. I was then handed off to the owner who told me that the hair stylist time is very important and hard to come by and that is the price and that I should think of it as a deposit. I then asked is that how you get away with saying includes advance appointment and she said yes. If it truly was a deposit then I should have been told the price would be $200 with a deposit of $100. I told her that I would be fine if I had been told that, but I wasn't. I was told it would be $100 and then told another $100 for the day of the wedding because it is $100 for that hair stylist so two separate appointments paying for each which means their website stating includes advance appointment is false. I simply wanted the owner to acknowledge that what her website advertises and what I was told was two different things and she refused and told me that we weren't a good match and she was refusing my business and that she felt I was one of those people looking for something for free. I'm not looking for anything free I am perfectly fine with spending that much money on getting my hair done since one I currently live in Europe (but I am getting married in southern Ca) and routinely pay at least 120 Euros each time I get my hair done every 6-8 weeks, so I'm not looking for anything free. I just have a problem with false advertisement and being treated that way by a company that I was more than willing to spend my money at. My conversation with the owner just tells me that one they do not honor what they advertise and they don't care and two because of how she treated the situation they have poor customer service. She could have easily acknowledge that there was a discrepancy with what is advertised and what is actually offered but she refused and told me I was looking for something for free which again I told her I would have been perfectly happy paying the $200 for the services if I had been told that is how much it was going to be from the start. Instead I was quoted prices for 2 separate appointments because that is how much the stylist charges for each appointment. So making an appointment for getting your hair done for your wedding does not actually include an advance appointment for a trial run as advertised on their website you pay for each appointment individually. If I was told $200 from the beginning I would have never known I was paying for two separate appointments. I told her that I was going to contact the BBB and she told me to go ahead she didn't care and hung up on me. more

I was referred to Heidi, she is personable but not friendly, she is knowledgeable and seems to know her business. I think what goes wrong with Heidi is that she doesn't listen to the client, she has it in her mind how she thinks your hair should be and the client walks out unhappy. I gave her two chances, The services were extremely high priced for this area, I paid double that and went to my Beverly Hills colorist and it was worth every penny and I won't need higlights for six months and only need a base every eight weeks which only takes an hour compared to a three hour appointment with Heidi, and my color is absolute perfection. I think the entire salon is highly over-rated. more

By far Heidi is the best hair stylist I have ever been to. Her coloring skills turn my hair into art. I recommend her to every age group & hair type. She really is that good! more

I am new to Ventura County and needed a new hair stylist and waxer. I looked up salons online and MIchael Kelley Salon had the CUTEST website ever! I first had a consult with Heidi and she was very knowledgeable and listened to me when I told her what I wanted. I am very picky and have had my hair the same for years. She did my hair a week later and it looked AMAZING!! I will go back to her for sure, even though she was a little pricey. I had my eyebrows and brazillian done with Jenn. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. I explained to her that I had a few bad experiences before with skin irritation and waxers not really knowing what they were doing. She waxed my eyebrows and brazillian in less than 20 minutes and I was impressed. Michael Kelley Salon is the best salon in Ventura County by far! This is the best Salon by far that I have been to! I love to go here to get my hair cut, highlighted, and eyebrows done, etc! I have always had great service here! The atmosphere is fantastic and they always use top notch products. more

Michael Kelley is very expensive, but it's definitely worth it. My girl Jessica C is amazing, and I have been going there regularly for the past few years. She is a great colorist, and also a make up artist. She does a great job, I have never walked away unhappy. The people at the front aren't always the most friendly - but it's okay because the stylists/colorists are all awesome. Come here if you want to pay for quality! more

I went to Michael Kelley and had a gift certificate to use. I already have a great hair stylist elsewhere and decided to get a brow wax. I went in and met Carrie who led me back to the cute little spa. She had me lay down and started at the waxing. I have have many brow waxes before and she had nice brows so I trusted her to do a professional job. The wax felt ok, the plucking was painful...then she showed me the mirror. I was horrified. How could an ""upscale salon"" do this? My brows were almost gone, barely there. I had nicer brows when I came in and would have preferred them to the small uneven lines I left with. I did mention to her that I was disappointed in how thin they were. She had no comment. I cannot believe it happened for one and for two how she handled my disappointment. I was so frustrated I just paid and left. I highly recommend that if you need your brows waxed...to NOT get them done here. Pros: Cute salon Cons: Terrible experience more

I was new to the area and went to MK Salon, the first couple of times I went the girl who did my hair was nice, friendly, and did exactly what I wanted for a cut & color. Two weeks before my wedding I went to get my hair cut & colored, she left the color on for the highlights so long it FRIED my hair!!! I left the salon and she never said a word to me about it. I hadn't noticed it it was late and the way it was styled you couldn't tell. Until the next morning when I went to do my own hair. I was so upset that I had paid over $125 + tip I cried for about two hours. I call the salon that morning, when I confronted that hair stylist she told me that I must have put something in my hair in order for it to burn like that! I wouldn't pay a salon good money to do my hair so that I could go home and do it myself! Worst part is that they didn't want to admit they screwed up and wouldn't even consider giving me a refund! more

I recently returned to Michael Kelley Salon after a 3 year hiatus due to a failed business venture. I'm back because I've now believe you get what you pay for. The cut I asked Jannae to do is a geometric cut and needs to pretty precise... SHE DID A FANTASTIC JOB.. KUDOS Kelley for having her.. I have found my new stylist Pros: GREAT HAIR DRESSER Cons: POOR MASSAGE THERAPIST,, NEEDS MORE EXPERIENCE. more

The minute I walked into salon I felt completely at home. The front desk was friendly and helpful. They offered me a beverage and let me know my stylist would be right with me. My stylist was Jenn and she was prompt with my appt. time. She listened carefully to my list of likes and dislikes. She then gave me suggestions to compliment my skin tone, eye color, and time able to style. Although she gave me suggestions I felt that she was also considering what would make me feel comfortable. I had a cut and color done in a timely fashion. I felt relaxed the entire service. The salon had a positive, upbeat vibe to it. Everyone was friendly.. the decor was simple and clean. I rebooked for the eight weeks so I can maintain my new look. I will be back to Jenn, she made me feel and look fabulous! I can't wait to go back and try the other services they offer. Pros: great vibe, friendly staff, lots of fun products to choose from Cons: not a ton of parking but worth every step to get there more

Michael Kelley's Salon and Day Spa is the best salon that I have ever experienced. I have never liked going to salons. The last time I went to a salon it was the worst; I hated my hair and I had to have my mom fix it. I tried to find a salon online and the first website that popped up was Michael Kelley's Salon and Day Spa. I was hesitant at first to go, but once I was done i knew that that was the place i was going to be going to from now on. I loved my hair and also got my makeup done. I told the stylist what i wanted and she cut and colored perfectly, and the results were better than i expected. The next weekend my mother and her friend went in for facials, massages, and nails and came out feeling relaxed, renewed and replenished. Not only were the stylists fantastic and friendly, but the receptionists were perfect. They were very helpful, welcoming, and offered me refreshments and snacks from The Healty Lotus( Natural Spa Cuisine.) Overall, best experience, very highly recommended. Pros: Service, treatments, products, location, and staff Cons: Pricey and limited parking, but all worth it. more

I needed a haircut and color, and just found this salon online, being new to the area. Showed up sans appointment at a slow time, and had fast cheerful assistance. My cut and color were beyond compare, much better than many that I have had from stylists I dealt with for years! I gave the stylist (Jessica) cart blanche, and she really stepped up and did a fantastic job. I walked out looking 10 years younger. I received several compliment son the cut from strangers later that evening! Pros: Friendly and helpful Staff, new facilities, great products Cons: Moderately high priced, but really a value since it was the best color/cut I've ever had more

Although a little pricier then say, supercuts, this place is great for men and women's hair cuts. They are a full service, upbeat salon with highly trained staff that can produce any cut you request. more

This is perhaps the best Salon in town. They have a great upbeat environment with very talented stylists. You can tell any one of their stylist what you want and they will do it - no questions asked. If you are open to suggestions, they are all also very creative too. It's also a great place to schedule before a wedding or big event because they have great stylists that specialize in updos. more

Amazing salon and spa in the heart of Ventura. I highly recommend getting one of their spa treatments in the steamroom, you won't be disapointed. After you are done at the spa get your hair done by one of the many talented hair stylists. My favorite is Nicole. more
