My husband and I just moved to Southlake Texas and we found this amazing resturant!! I read the other reviews and dont know what the poor service reviews were about!! We had amazing service the owner was friendly and open!! THe food was right on what we were looking for!! I dont think enough people know about this gem yet so i wanted to make sure and spread the word!! The wine list was great! They have a tuna appitizer that I crave and cant wait to go back and tast all the other wonderful things on the menu!! GO AND CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!! Pros: food & service!! more

AMAZING AMAZING 7/24/2007

I just recently moved here from NYC and I have to say the owner really has done an amazing job!! The foodis amazing the wine list is full of variety and resonably price!!! More importantly the staff was funny and made it a great experience!! I am thrilled that he is also going to open a new location as well! This area needs someone who isnt a part of a chain and gets the resturant industry!! AND HE DOES!! Pros: Great food great wine great service more

still working out the kinks 7/16/2007

michael anthony's has a friendly staff, a decent wine list and a well-variegated menu. where it fall short, though, is in the execution of the dishes themselves. the ""burst of brie"" is more like a brie blintz; it's wrapped in a phyllo cigar and served with a rich berry compote that made me think ""IHOP."" the hearty crackers (a/k/a biscuits) that accompanied it should have been replaced with something lighter that would not detract from the flavor of the brie pastry itself (which is good). double cut pork chop was overcooked (ordered medium plus by waiter's suggestion but came out well done) but was still palatable. to their credit they comped the brie even though i did not send the pork chop back. sea bass was delicate but a bit gamey, and the combination of creamy seafood risotto (best part of the dish) and sweet marinara resulted in a cacophony of flavors. a lemon butter sauce might have been a better choice. \r \r michael anthony's has only been open 20 months so let's give them the benefit of the doubt that things will tighten up over time. there is a lot of promise here, and i am inclined to return soon! Pros: friendly staff, decent wine list Cons: none of the food was that great - yet... more

HORRIBLE service!! 1/25/2007

went on a recent saturday evening with an 8pm reservation. seated promptly at 8. that was the only thing prompt about the evening! ordered an appetizer, sald, and entree, witha bottle of wine. it was around 8:45 before the appetizers arrived. they were bland. it wasn't until 9:15 that the salads were brought out. so-so at best. the entrees did not arrive until 9:40pm-nearly 2 hours after we arrived and ordered!! my date's sea bass was FULL of bones. she could only eat a few bites before giving up. they didn't even offer to remove her dish from the menu! on top of that, the sea bass was about as bland as it could be; absolutely no flavor. it sat atop a bed of some concoction best described as rice cooked in cream of mushroom. all for only $38. wow.\r the service was so slow that we noticed there was basically ONE seating per night. once the 8pm tables cleared out, it was too late for others to be seated. the waiter simply apologized that they were so busy. a restaurant that bills itself as FINE DINING should allow for that, and expect it, especially on a saturday evening. \r would not recommend the food, nor the service-unless you have 2 hours to waste for non-descript dishes at unreasonable prices (total bill was $160). if looking for a nice dining experience in southlake, keep looking. Pros: nice setting Cons: food, service, attitude, prices. more
