great food cheap prices 4/23/2009

My visit to Mi Ranchito was the best experience ever. Mi Ranchito is under new management...which is alot better than before. The food was great and the service was even better than before as well. They may not have to many veggie plates but u could always ask them to substitude the meat in with veggies or anything else. The waiters and waitress' are very friendly and kind. The cook is very representable. And what could be better than mexican food made by mexican people? Nothing really. The music was even great. Great food for great prices and great meals. The desserts were very delicious as well especially the flan. I say MI RANCHITO deserves 5 stars....great food great prices and great meals....you should really try it! Pros: best mexican food ever Cons: ------- more

Solid food for the price: 3/5/2008

Great Food For east Coast Mexican: This restaurant is not known for its ambiance. Solid portions at a great price! I lived in So Cal for 4 years and this is as close to authentic Mexican one can find in Ma. I would much rather eat this food than Acapulco in Sudbury. more

The worst Mexican food ever. 1/9/2008

I lived in California for 32 years. I traveled to Mexico a lot. I am spoiled when it comes to Mexican food, be it authentic or americanized. The East Coast does not have fabulous Mexican places; but EVERYTHING I have ever tasted was 100% better than Mi Ranchito. Stale, greasy tortillas are one way not to start a good meal. It was down hill from then on. People rating this place as great have unselective taste buds and have never experienced truly fabulous Mexican cousine. Oh: Their Mexican beer was great!! (They could not spoil that!) There is a new little place on Lincoln Street...I will test it out. Meanwhile, Acapulco in Framingham or Sudbury is the next best thing. You could always make your own and do better!! Pros: Prices Cons: Everything else! more

great 9/25/2007

I dine out at fine restaurants quite often. This Mexican restaurant is basic in its overall appearance; however, the dishes are excellent. My opinion of a business is relative to my expectations. When I visited this restaurant, all I expected was an average meal at a simple downtown restaurant. What I got was a great meal, great service and a great value. I rate this restaurant as a 5 star for value, great food and service. Try it. Pros: food and value more

Bland, unrecognizable food--don't waste your time and money 8/14/2007

I went on a Wednesday night with three friends. Two of my friends had their (very limited) vegetarian offerings, another had the bisteak, and I had the mole chicken. All of us hated our meals. The refried beans were pale, slimy, and bland, the chicken was dry. I love mole, but this was terrible. All of the food was uninspired. We ordered sopapillas, thinking no one could mess that up, but they were awful, just a tortilla in six pieces with a dollop of whipped cream and and some strawberry slices, none of the honeyed and puffed deliciousness I have come to expect from sopapillas. There is too much good Mexican out there to ever waste time on a place like Mi Ranchito. And I do mean waste time--our waiter was gone so long in between visits (even for simple things like bringing water) that she might has well have been cooking all the meals as well. However, we did see at least two cooks in the background, so that wasn't the problem, neither was it a crowd--there were only two other occupied tables. All in all, this place was a total disappointment. Maybe they were good once, but not anymore. Pros: none--you can eat better from a can Cons: terrible food, slow service more

Best AUTHENTIC Mexican I've EVER been to. 2/11/2007

Although the menu seemed to have its share of "tex-mex" type foods- the tamales certainly passed the test of authenticity. I exchanged the offered sauce and got the mole sauce instead. They were incredible. It was a quiet for a Friday night, but the staff was very attentive & pleasant. Decor was comfortable & warm. 2 dos x, 2 meals only cost around $25. Pros: Low price but not cheap by far. Cons: Parking can be difficult more

Great Food 11/18/2006

The quality of food and service here is excellent. The atmosphere is simple and small but clean and satisfactory. I have only been here for lunch and the quantity of food is very good. The free chips and salsa is a great appetizer and always a good sign of things to come at any mexican restaurant. more

Good Mexican tacos are few and far between. 9/5/2006

I live in Providence and there is ~one~ place to get good tacos in my area - La Lupita in Olneyville Square in Providence. There are a couple more places but they're garbage. I go to LL a real lot. Can't get much better - especially in Providence - Goombahville =) Simple, quick, REALLY inexpensive, and awesome. However - Because our current president's America dictates that three dollar gas prices are OK... two nights a week I stay in Marlborough, MA closer to my job. I'm kind of a taco freak and Taco Bell bites, so... I went on the hunt for a place in or near Marleyburruh. Although they have no menu they can fax you, or can be found online, Mi Ranchito is a close second to the taco masters known as La Lupita. Mi Ranchito is in downtown Marlborough across from the former "adult store". Pretty no nonsense, good prices, and the tacos are good - very good. I've been twice and had take-out, never ate-in. I recommend it, especially seeing that good REAL taco places are scarce... Pros: Their tacos Cons: Take-out orders quoted to be ready in 5 minutes take more like 20 or 25... boo more

Too spicy for New England? 5/19/2004

I am surprised at the low ratings people in New England give this restaurant. I grew up in New Mexico, so I consider myself much more of an authority on good Mexican food than the average New Englander. Mi Ranchito is simple in terms of ambience and service, but the dishes are magnificent. One piece of advice: choose pork, ground beef or chicken rather than steak when presented with the choice. Pros: Inexpensive, Pleasant waitstaff, Convenient Location Cons: , No delivery service more
