The ""Mac"" and ""Nordstrom"" of the Eyecare industry! 1/23/2011

She is an excellent Doctor! No doubt. I've never had such care in an eye exam before. She really cares and takes the time to explain everything. I completely trust her expertise. Her office is the best of the best quality with genuine care. Metro Eye has the most high tech office I've ever seen. I'm a very picky person and like the best of the best (which is why I'm a Mac, Shop at Nordstrom, Organic food, will pay $200 for a haircut) etc.. and Metro Eye and Dr. Amy Jankowski is the ""Mac"" of the eye care industry. more

Top notch but not inexpensive 10/6/2010

We've been to Metro Eye several times now, and remain VERY impressed with the operation. Over the years we've been to a number of others, and Dr. Jankowski & Company are at the top of our list. It's possible to get someone on a ""bad day"" and with a service as personal as eye care that will be a huge negative. It may be THE business, along with barbering and styling of hair, where the rapport with the provider is hugely important. Personally, that issue has not happened to us --- at Metro Eye but when I read negative comments about a place sprinkled in with glowing ones, I figure that might be the issue. The only reason I am giving 5 stars instead of 4 is pricing. I am always blown away by the price of eye wear, no matter where I have gone. So I HAVE tried the ""low end"" places, and have given up on them (for the time being at least) because it just may be (surprise surprise, huh?) that you do get what you pay for. At Metro Eye, there are no bargains as far as I can tell --- but the service and selection are outstanding. So THAT choice is yours, obviously. If I were to give advice, it might be: if concerned about cost, tell the staff you are not wanting to pay hundreds more for something that's not really clearly worth the difference in price. Not sure how much difference it would make to do that, but since this is such a ""personal"" kind of business, might be good establish and communicate your thoughts right off the top. more

Does she really know what shes's doing? 9/27/2010

I decided to change to Metro Eye, as I had been driving an hour away to see my old eye care provider. First, I purchased glasses that were over 600 dollars....but I haven't been able to wear them. I have never had issues with my glasses or contacts in the past. The perscription in my glasses is so wrong...that it's impossble to wear them. I've already been in once to get them fixed...and while I was there they apologized, but blamed it on me for not telling Dr. Jankowski when it was ""clear"" enough. Really? I've been almost blind for 15 years....and I've never had this problem before and I'm pretty sure I know the drill when getting my eyes checked. The contacts that she suggested for me too...are wrong. Well one of them is okay, the other is not the righ fit for my eye...as it is constantly twisting...So I've had one heck of a year thanks to Metro Eye, I will not be going back. I'll be going back to my old eye care provider who knows what he's doing..or possibly a new one. more

Best Eye Doc in the Ward 5/19/2010

I visited Metro Eye for the first time during their trunk show in the beginning of May. We had a great time, they had food donated from local restruraunts, great music, three designer vendors in and we had a blast! Pros: Amazing staff, caring doc and cool shades Cons: none more

Metro Eye is Great! 5/13/2010

I have astigmatism to the point where contacts would stick to my eyes and dry them out immensely. Before I knew it, I had two corneal ulcers in my right eye. I went elsewhere at first to get the issue resolved (wont mention where) initially. I was prescribed drops and didnt wear my contacts for months. Then, this other place gave me more curved lenses... well that made it worse my eyes were constantly dry then one would water constantly for an entire day. They were also more red and the corneal ulcers had returned. Frustrated, I called metro eye, they got me in the next day... looked at my eyes and told me that the other place had gotten it backwards... really I needed nearly flat contacts! They tried three kinds of contacts with me. They were very thorough and were great with insurance and follow-ups. My eyes have been great for nearly 6 months now! Great place. Pros: knowledgeable, friendly staff Cons: expensive frames. more

All about selling expensive glasses 4/15/2010

The exam part did not go over well. I was shuffled into three different rooms. Technician had trouble with one of the machines. Prescription came out wrong. Pros: Located in the beautiful third ward Cons: High pressure to buy expensive glasses more

great service and great frames! 2/9/2010

We basically travel 8 mos a yr. Recently while on an extended snow bird trip to Texas for the winter I lost my glasses. I went to a Texas eye Dr. to get glasses, since my prescription had expired. The new Dr found a potetial major eye problem, this problem just appered after I was diagonsed with diabetes in the last 6 mos. Dr. Amy called me directly to tell me what her input was on the exams the Dr here wanted to run. What Dr would call you directly!! I can't say enough about Dr. Amy, she is profesional, caring and friendly. The frame shop has the best selection around. If you don't want to spend a lot just let them know and they will drect you to less expensive frames. Pros: compassionate and caring Cons: none! more

Unique, impeccable service, extremely friendly! 9/8/2009

Dr. Amy Jankowski and the entire team are incredibly professional, friendly, and efficient. The frames are so unique. I am constantly receiving compliments on them. This is the place to go in Milwaukee for extraordinary frames and impeccable service! Pros: Truly excellent and very thorough service Cons: No real drawbacks more

Fabulous customer service 8/21/2009

I recently purchased three pair of glasses from Metro Eye. The customer service is outstanding. I didn't feel as if price had anything to do with the frames they were selecting for me, but rather they were helping me make the selection based on my tastes and the best fit for my face. The staff is familiar with all of the products that they carry and answered my questions completely. I will be going back to Metro Eye for all of my eyewear needs! more

An EYE-opening experience 8/18/2009

Metro Eye isn't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill eye glass store, it is an experience. A perfect fit for the rest of the boutique style, unique experience stores in the Third Ward. Dr. Amy takes a great deal of pride in her services and in the retail operations of her store. LuAnne and the rest of the staff truly help customers pick out frames that fit your face and your personality. I've been going to Metro Eye since they opened and have sent friends and family there. Don't take your eye sight for granted, go to Dr. Amy! more

Great Customer service 8/17/2009

If you don't want to feel like just another patient then Metro Eye is for you. I am a difficult case with a relatively high prescription and astigmatism. The problem was exasperated by years of over correcting. Pros: Knowledge combined with technology more

Satisfied Customer 8/15/2009

I am definitely a tough case; and was very satisfied with Dr. Amy's care and my results. Pros: Thorough doctor; excellent staff; Outstanding eye care Cons: Tough to find parking downtown more

I am Picky and so are they 8/15/2009

I am an urban real estate developer who spends most of his time trying to make cool looking urban projects so my glasses are as much of a statement about my daily life as they are my functional life. Metro Eye took the time to really understand what I was looking for as well as what looked best. In the end I took a leap of faith about their recommendation and now I have cool glasses that I receive comments about all the time regardless of my travels. PS Ia m going back for a second pair Thanks Pros: Great design awarness more

The best eyecare anywhere! 8/13/2009

I have extremely difficult issues with my sight and contact lenses. I've gone to many optometrists and even opthamologists, and really did not have very good results. I was referred to Dr. Amy by a co-worker. She was amazing! She worked with me beyond what I ever expected until the very best result was achieved. She seems to love what she does so much, and she is so good at it, that she was more enthusiastic than even I was to keep working on a solution, which she did! When I ordered glasses (which are also a real challenge for me) I made some poor choices. Even though it was my decision making that resulted in my dissatisfaction, they made it right! Your satisfaction is what they care about most. The support crew is also great - extemely friendly, professional, and efficient. I ALWAYS have a great experience, and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Pros: Service and great results more

Excellent Care and Service 8/13/2009

Dr. Jankowski is the best! Eye exams are thorough and accurate and she takes the time to ensure that your questions are answered and that you understand all her recommendations. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and they are quick about returning phone calls if you have to leave a message. While the frames can be pricey, the staff takes the time to ascertain your needs and work to get you into the very best frames. If you wear contacts, Dr. Jankowski will send you home with samples so that you can be absolutely certain you have the right prescription for your needs before you place and pay for your order. Metro Eye always gives you your prescription information, should you want to purchase your glasses elsewhere. Would recommend Metro Eye to everyone! Pros: Excellent Care and Service more

Dr. Amy's Personal Concern 8/12/2009

I had accidentally put a teeth whiting eye drop in my eye which burned like crazy. Kept tearing and throbbing. I called Metro Eye at 7:30 AM and received a voice mail with Dr. Amy's personal message to call her on her cell phone for any after hour problems. She called me back within 5 minutes and guided me through my pain. She opened the office early for me and her associate Barb was able to clear up my burning, painful eye. Needless to say I was scared because I was afraid that I may have damaged my vision. She personally called me twice that day to see how my eye was doing. Dr. Amy truly cares about her patients. Pros: Best Eye Doctor in Milwaukee Cons: High End Frames that are unique. more

great experience at metro eye 8/11/2009

I wanted to find a new eye doctor that was as thorough as my past one but who offered a better, trendier selection of frames and I found the perfect match at Metro Eye. The eye exam was thorough, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the frame selection was exactly as I hoped it would be. I loved that I was able to take home samples of multiple types of contact lenses in order to make sure that I'm using the best kind for my eyes and my lifestyle. I also loved having some help in the frame selection department, but would have liked to have seen more frames out on display (although I'm confident that any frame that would look good was shown to me). Great experience and will definitely go back next year! Pros: wonderful staff, thorough doctor, awesome frame selection Cons: parking, not being able to see ALL of the frames on display more

Best Eye Care in the City, Unique Frames 8/4/2009

Dr. Amy has given me the most extensive eye exam that I have ever had. Does not compare to other chain stores or Walmart. Best Eye Doc for the money hands down. Also have never seen so much technology in a Doctor's office. Would like to do Lasik with Dr. AMY, but then what to do with my cool specs? Speaking of which, if you want fashion, function, or funk in your frames -- this is the place to go. You can't find this stuff at Lenscrafters Margie! The quality of the lenses and coatings was great also. True craftsmanship. Pros: Best eye exam with great technology Cons: So many frames, and only one face more

Horrible place for glasses 3/23/2009

I purchased glasses and lenses about two weeks ago at metro eye. While my initial service was acceptable, and they gave me a good discount on my frames the glasses themselves were of poor quality and broke at both of the stems' hinges four days after I received the finished pair. I had awoken that morning to find that they had fallen on the floor and was surprised to find three parts, not one. No big deal. I went to a local eye glass shop in the area (I was on spring break) and they replaced the faulty hinges with some spare stems at no extra charge. However, upon taking them back at my return Metro Eye replaced them with another set of frames while they searched for the same pair. They only decided to look for another pair after I complained about not being able to see. I have an astigmatism and bifocal lenses and have to have glasses that are lined up perfectly so I can actually see. Upon voicing my concern that the new frames they gave me were ""unfit for my vision"" one of the helpers told me, verbatim, to ""put them down on my nose, as that was the trendy thing to do."" However, for the time I was hoping they'd find a new pair. I received a call two days later saying that they had not been able to locate the same frames and that I, myself, could locate another pair online. When I stated that I did not have enough time to do so with a full schedule (not to mention my disgust at such tacky customer service) they said to stop by to work something out. On Saturday I received another call saying that they had a solution to my problem, giddy I went on Monday to find out that they had just replaced my stems with other stems and that were going to charge me 20 dollars to fix them. When I debated the price the manager of the store came out and YELLED that while that I did not have to pay the 20 dollars ""she had bent over backwards to help me and that she was sorry but glasses just didn't break like that, and she had been nice enough to give a discount."" Not only was I swindled into buying faulty glasses, they tried to get me to search for a new pair (after trying to get me to buy another pair BTW), and tried to get me to pay more to fix glasses that I did not break. Poor bussiness integrity. Pros: stylish if you have the dough Cons: poor service, overpriced more

too much sales, less medical 3/18/2009

This place is overpriced for frames and everything, as many reviewers noted. It is more like a boutique than a place to get actual optical care. The emphasis on selling designer frames, as well as the *really* weird way everyone there was reluctant to give me model info about particular frames, or even a copy of my prescription, affected my trust of the doctor's actual optical knowledge at the time of my appointment... and in hindsight I was right, since the prescription I received from them was incorrect, leaving me out $200 for glasses I had made somewhere else. I am very unhappy with this. Pros: knowledgable salespeople Cons: the doctor seemed like one of them more
