My husband and I love Messina Hof Winery. It was there 4 years ago at a corner table in November that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the most romantic ...

\r This is a family owned business that love what they do. Their passion comes across in their winery. They truly want you to enjoy your experience. \r \r My friend and I can for the day and had a great time. We went on a tour and ate at the restaurant and had a blast! I would suggest the tour to all wine newbies. It gives you a chance to try different wines and get an idea of what types you like. \r \r I would highly recommend this to anyone! It's a great escape from the city; really gives you a chance to breath, relax and drink great wine ;)\r \r I've heard harvest is the best time of year to go! You get to stomp grapes :)\r \r more

I love going to the Vintage House on the weekends for both the food and the wine. The ambiance of the entire vineyard at Messina Hof is so relaxing.... It is like taking a mini vacation every time I visit\r \r My favorite menu item is the Stuffed Chicken, although everything that I have gotten there has been excellent. I have never had a bad experience and the staff is always so professional, kind and knowledgeable about the different wines and grapes...It is so neat.\r \r My favorite wine is by far the private reserve chardonnay if you like white wine....It has won a bunch of awards and I'm pretty sure it is their most famous wine. They also have a really great Cab, but I am more of a white wine fan myself.\r \r If you have not been here yet, you have to go... even if you do not like wine. The whole place is so neat... it reminds me of visiting Italy or somewhere like that. more

I decided to go here when I went to Bryan to visit my girlfriend. I figured it would be a romantic place for us to go, tour the vineyard, drink some wine and have a nice lunch while we were together.\r \r We had a great time. The food was excellent and the wine was even better. She had a salad with chicken and I had some type of shrimp pasta. Both were very good. \r \r We really enjoyed the private reserve chardonnay. We split two bottles during lunch alone... I am going to look for it in the store next time I buy white wine.\r \r The vineyard was nice and so was the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and made it a great experience for us....Next time I visit her I am sure we will go back. more

Being an alumni of Sam Houston State University, my friends and I decided to go to Bryan for the A&M / SHSU game on the weekend of the 17th. We had seen that Messina Hof was having a tailgating special for SHSU fans, so we decided to stop in and have some wine before the game.\r \r First of all, let me say that the vineyard is so nice a cozy. It was just a neat atmosphere and we were excited as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was very nice and decorated accordingly. \r \r We decided to order off of the ""tailgating"" menu, which featured three courses and expertly-paired wine with each. I started with the house salad. The dressing was a garlic - flavored merlot dressing, which was awesome. For my main course I had a balsamic glazed samlon with rice and veggies. The salmon was flaky and cooked just right and the glaze was great too. For dessert I had this amazing brownie that they serve that actually has bacon in it. It might sounds gross, but trust me - try it. Everything tastes better with bacon.\r \r All of the wines were excellent and my two friends enjoyed their meals too. \r \r I would definately recommend trying it out if you are in the area or looking for something to do while visiting. They also offer tours and tastings, but we were in a hurry to catch the game! more

Had i known this place existed, I would have been here so many times by now! But alas, I just learned that it was within driving distance to where I live. I took my wife and in-laws here this past weekend while they were in town forThanksgiving. My family is a huge fan of Messina Hof wine! They live in Michigan now and so they always stock up when they come down here. Anyways, on to my main point, we had a GREAT time! Spending time with in-laws, for a guy anyway, I think is always a little boring. But I think this is the best time I've had with them in a long time! The staff was great, the wine was great, the company was great. We've been to other wineries around the country but Messina Hof has topped all of those. We will be coming back here quite a bit! Thanks Messina Hof! more

My husband and I love Messina Hof Winery. It was there 4 years ago at a corner table in November that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the most romantic thing in the world!! The atmosphere and the owners, not to mention the staff are all so welcoming and want to make your stay there memorable. We stayed in the Villa and picked grapes as well as participated in the muder mystery dinner. All worth the time and money. We will visiting the vinyard soon for the annual picking. It was a great experience and we would HIGHLY recommend taking a day to see the winery and sign up for the wine tasting. When we have family visiting from PA we take them to the winery and they most definitely fall in love with the vinyard, the lake, the villas, etc. We are lucky that such a great place is so close to visit. more

REALLY GOOD FOOD AND WINE 4/26/2007

This review is about the Vintage House Restaurant at Messina Hof Winery $ Resort. I have been to this restaurant about 4-5 times in the past 3 years. The food is excellent, staff is friendly and great service, great environment, it's the best restaurant I know in College Station, TX. Very romantic if that's what you are looking for, you definitely get what you are paying. I don't presonally think it's overpriced... many dishes cos ~$20 on average, maybe less. some, of course, will be ~$25 or so, depending. Messina Hof wine is EXCELLENT, I reccomend it to anyone. Their wine is so good and so cheap. The first time my wife and I went to the restaurant, order a bottle of wine and liked it so much we've been buying many of their wines often. Their average wine bottle will cost around $12-20, and they are GOOD. You can get them at HEB, or anywhere around. Back to the restaurant, they have a lot of choices, great desserts. Once, i went with 3 people, and we ordered a bottle. They served the other tree people and after they served my glass, I noticed there was a little wine fly in the wine. The wine bottle was completely gone by the time they had finished pouring the wine. I told they waiter and she called the manager. He was extremely nice, he explaines to me that these little flies are in the vineyard, and that sometimes get inside the bottles when making the wine. He said that particular wine they did not serve by the glass and offered me a new bottle on the house. it was great !!... Anyway, highly recommended, especially for special things like birthdays, graduation, romantic dinner, etc. more
