Being an alumni of Sam Houston State University, my friends and I decided to go to Bryan for the A&M / SHSU game on the weekend of the 17th. We had seen that Messina Hof was having a tailgating special for SHSU fans, so we decided to stop in and have some wine before the game.\r

First of all, let me say that the vineyard is so nice a cozy. It was just a neat atmosphere and we were excited as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was very nice and decorated accordingly. \r

We decided to order off of the ""tailgating"" menu, which featured three courses and expertly-paired wine with each. I started with the house salad. The dressing was a garlic - flavored merlot dressing, which was awesome. For my main course I had a balsamic glazed samlon with rice and veggies. The salmon was flaky and cooked just right and the glaze was great too. For dessert I had this amazing brownie that they serve that actually has bacon in it. It might sounds gross, but trust me - try it. Everything tastes better with bacon.\r

All of the wines were excellent and my two friends enjoyed their meals too. \r

I would definately recommend trying it out if you are in the area or looking for something to do while visiting. They also offer tours and tastings, but we were in a hurry to catch the game!
