For the forty years I've lived near Walled Lake, Melvins Hardware has been the go-to place for any and all hardware, plumbing, electrical, gadget and paint needs in this community. Their history as a 'small town independent' hardware store gives them an edge over any other store of its type. They have retained the friendly, knowledgeable local staff as well as stocking a number of obscure bits and pieces that include just about anything I ever need. Their years of service to this community far outweigh one disgruntled customer's battery issue. They have stayed in business this long because they are, quite simply, GREAT! more

Best Hardware in Walled Lake! 1/24/2011

Never have I had such exceptional service! As soon as I walked in the door, someone greeted me and took me directly to the location I needed to be at. They were spot on with their knowledge and found the issue with my alarm system. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this establishment to all! Great job Melvin's employees! more

Never going back...... 11/16/2010

Sorry Melvins - but we are never coming back. We live in Walled Lake, frequently all the neighboring businesses (even gas stations) - but we are not coming back to Melvins. Poor customer satisfaction that's for sure... . .. Our smoke alarm is fine, thank you. THE ACE battery that the hardware swaped for our perfectly fine duracell was causing it to chirp. We will now go out of our way to get propane and to shop for necessities. It would have been so simple to give us a new battery, or a duracell. Too bad, you lost a good customer to the competition that surrounds you. Seriously? telling us that it is our smoke alarm? when it did not chirp before switching it out? Poor decision on Melvin's part. very poor more
