Great Restaurant 12/3/2010

This is one of the best restaurants in Boulder but the line is usually out the door. They have Italian, Greek, and Spanish food which gives you a taste of everything. I'd recommend it if you can find a spot! more

the best mediterranean restaurant ever! 7/1/2010

oh sweet baby jesus, this is the freshest, most deliscious middle eastern food i have ever had the pleasure of eating! yum yum. the black bean hummous is fab, as is the gyros, lamb and falafel. Try the sampler salad, too. The service was excellent, friendly and quick. Prices were very reasonable. \r \r Pros: the food, of course! Cons: a tiny bit noisy more

Not bad, not great 12/5/2009

It's not at the top of my list when I go out for a meal (which is often). The food is mediocre and it can get very loud. It's big with the happy-hour & college crowd. Pros: Decent food (not great) Cons: Loud more

Yum 9/7/2009

I love this place. It's got the down home favorites I grew up with and don't turn down suggestions. If you're hankering for paella though, don't get it here, its not good and they said it would be enough for two, but anyone who has been to/lived in Spain knows what paella is, and the Med. does not have it. but other than that everything is amazing and super yum and awesome and TRY THIS PLACE! Pros: tapas, homey, drinks Cons: can be busy, bad paella more

service needs work 7/7/2008

Great food & atmosphere. The service could use some work. I just hate it when you have to ask for a drink refill. Other than that- great experience. Pros: atmosphere/ food is great! Cons: service more

Poor service, terrible food. 2/3/2008

This place had been highly recommended to me by several people so with bright eyes and and empty stomach I entered the Med on a Monday night with much enthusiasm. After a lengthy wait we were greeted by a server presenting us with indifference and inedibly stale bread. After a short wait we were delivered our tapas order, which turned out to be dull food served in undecorated cafeteria-style bowls and plates, hardly what one would expect from tapas. What followed was even more unimaginative entrees served with sides of slimy wilted salad topped with a very ordinary vinegrette, a terrible disappointment. We hardly had the courage to stay for dessert in this culinary disaster. Needless to say, I have no intention of returning to the Med. Pros: Ambiance in the upper section. Cons: Everything else more

Best Date I've had since moving to Boulder in July 11/30/2007

I would first disagree with the review before mine. Our server was personable, and recommended a great shrimp Tapas to go with our bread, which came right at the start of our meal without asking for it...As in the title of my review, this was the best dinner date I've had in Boulder, since moving here about 5 months ago and visiting many of the local ""hotspots."" Drinks were tasty, and my GF ordered something called ""Orange Blossom,"" I think, which was very nice - quite strong, but lots of flavor for a drink with that much booze! How often do you get a strong drink that actually tastes good? My Dark & Stormy was tasty as well.\r \r The food was delicious! Shrimp, Lamb Skewers, Fried Artichoke, Tuna Tartar, Carpaccio(?) were a treat, the only thing leaving a bit to be desired was the black bean and cilantro hummus, but this hardly put a damper on the meal. In addition I am a food connoisseur and was raised on my family's authentic French cooking, so I do have some basis for comparison. Overall great service, got a table in 10 mins (it was later on a Thursday), and awesome food, I will be back again and again, and tell everyone to go here! more

Horrible Service 6/7/2007

The Med had been reccomended to me by two people. However, when my fiance and I went there for dinner on Sunday we received horrible service and lousy food. The calamari was incredibly bland and soggy. The pizzas were OK. We didn't receive any bread and when I asked the waitress about this, she replied that they only served bread when asked for at the beginning of the meal. However, there was no mention of this on the menu, so only regulars would know that you had to specifically ask for the bread. To make the evening even worse, the service was slow and the manager berated quite a few of the servers in front of us. That doesn't make for a pleasent meal. And the place was over staffed so all the servers hung out on the patio and were incredibly loud. Again, this all added up to a very dissapointing meal. Pros: A nice patio Cons: Bad service, loud, no bread with meal, mediocre food more

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! 12/28/2006

The Med is always on my list of places to visit when I return to Boulder to visit my family. I hang my hat in Houston but my tummy calls out for those tapas each and everytime I come home! The beautiful Walnut Street location, gracious customer service and a menu you can always count on for variety never disappoint! Make this your tradition...Maybe I will see you next time I am in town! Pros: They always try to accomodate your seating requests Cons: Sooner or later you WILL have to leave! more

Over-crowded 'hot spot' 11/4/2006

The Med has always been a decent choice based on food alone. Their happy hour menu and of course the tapas are a sure-fire way to start your evening in Boulder. Be prepared to push through a crowd just to get the hostess to acknowledge you - no matter what time of day you visit. Mistakes have always been promptly remedied, prices are average for Boulder - outdoor patio area is beautiful and the only place to sit in the summer. Overall The Med is too trendy and full of itself to make it a favorite, good place to take visitors in town. Pros: Happy Hour & Tapas Cons: Crowds, noise more

Great food and drinks! 7/22/2006

The mojitos and margaritas were excellent! We ordered and appetizer from the tapas portion of the menu, dinner and dessert and it was all wonderful. We were in Boulder for a week and this was by far the best restaurant we tried. We had a 6 year old with us and she had pizza. They have a good children's menu and they give kids some raw pizza dough to play with while waiting. That sounded weird, but it was like play-dough and she really had fun with it. Pros: Great food and drinks! Cons: Somewhat expensive more

Terrible Customer Service 7/18/2006

I normally am very pleased with this restaurant however, the last time I ate there I was over charged $800 dollars. The general manager has been extremely unapologetic and has let this go on for over 4 days! He is unwilling to call my bank and help solve this gross mistake. I think that potential customers should be aware that this can happen to you because he's admitted that this has happened to customers in the past. Cons: Management's customer service. I was over charged $800 and they've done nothing to resolve this for 4 days. more

Best Overall in Boulder.... 12/6/2004

I can't even count how many times I've been to the Med and it is NEVER a dissapointment. Everytime, the service is great, the food is amazing and reasonably priced. Its my fall back restaurant - whenever we can't decide where to go, we always end up at the Med! The fresh bread is great, for tapas (small appetizers) try the calamari, the mussles, and the Blanco hummus Try the salmon - excellent flavor and presentation, and the pastas, the pizzas are also great. Creme brule is a great finish. Staff is knowledgable and professional every time. Pros: great food, atmosphere, good prices more

boulderspeak 9/25/2003

The children's entrees came out quickly. Too bad they came out before their salad. One adult salad arrived 10 minutes later. The second adult salad arrived 60 minutes after that. One adult entree came out about 30 minutes into the meal. Tapas and other adult entrees arrived 90 minutes after sitting down only after the manager got involved at the WAITRESS'S request. Tapas were lousy as were the salads. Only the pizza was good. The manager comp'd the entire meal including drinks. Inconsistent food and bad service aren't worth it, even when it's free! Pros: Location, Outdoor patio Cons: Service, Service, Inconsistent food more

If It's What You Want 6/6/2003

This place is perfect for a relaxing lunch on a nice day. Don't go if you're in a hurry, it's too hot or cold outside. I've never been for dinner... just lunch. The service is relaxed. Some dishes are great, others not so. It's a hit 'n' miss sort of place. I like it overall, and will continue to stop in when strolling around Boulder. Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, Relaxing Cons: , Slow Service more

Love those tapas! 3/29/2003

The Med is a very popular, loud and crowded venue for dinner. If you can't handle that, you may have a bad time, but if you can handle it you're in for a treat. Tapas are king at the Med. Try the brie, the sauteed mushrooms, the lamb skewers, the spicy fontina cheese profiteroles (was a special last night), even the almonds are good. All are very affordable. The individual brick oven pizzas are also tasty. They are prepared in an authentic mediterranean style. Try the grilled chicken, red onion and avocado (special). Skip the paella (it was just okay) and desserts (good, but not worth the calories), and instead order more tapas! Wash them all down with a bottle of Spanish Albarino or Rioja (or both as we did last night). Pros: Great Tapas, Attractive Crowd, Affordable Cons: Crowded, Parking, Can be loud more

The Best? No Way! 3/7/2003

The Med has consistently provided each of my visits there with poor, unattentive service, as well as decreasingly adequate food. The last time I went there they made me feel bad for sending back my immensely salty meal. I will not be returning Pros: location, menu selection Cons: poor service, crummy food, noisy atmosphere more

Talk about Greek 2/12/2003

Here you get a flavor of Italy and Greece nicely packaged, in a full service restaurant. Pros: The food, The Service, The Price Tag more

continued value for money 12/28/2002

the Med is always good. Too busy on Fridays for sure but then, I go on sundays and then it is OK Pros: swift service, food quality, wine list Cons: crowded more
