Mediacom Took My Money After My Service Was Cancelled 6/29/2011

Okay, I had to check a rating but really they deserve a negative number! I canceled my service with Mediacom after 16 months because they hook you in with a lower 1st year rate, but when that?s over they sock it to you by doubling the rate. When I cancelled my service and returned my equipment in perfect condition, which was prior to the start of my next month?s service date, they forgot to go into their computer and inactivate my account. Therefore took a payment from my bank account of $168.65 for service that I was not getting. When I contacted them about the error, I had already bounced two transactions on my account which they said they would refund the fees, but it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the refund. The original draw was taken on 6/14, the two insufficient transactions occurred on 6/15, a refund check was issued on 6/23 but it will take between 4 to 6 weeks for me to receive the check? This is ridiculous, it?s Mediacom?s error. I have referred family and friends to Mediacom in the past but will never use or refer their services again. I will also talk anyone I know who is thinking of getting Mediacom out of it! more

The service provided to me by Mediacom is appalling. I have waited over 1 year and 3 months for it to remedy a fault in its cable connection at my property. After numerous excuses and no shows you would think I would be smart enough to walk away from Mediacom and get Direct TV or another provider. But no, here I am waiting for the Mediacom engineer to arrive to replace a faulty box (a box that I apparently cannot collect from its nearby office). I have had to wait for almost 2 weeks for this 8am-5pm appointment. It is now 6.30pm and, yes you got it, no show!!! I understand that Apache Junction Council has some control over this company. Good Service and friendly people. TV service is okay, However I always cancel it once my annual promotional contract is up and swiotch to dish for a year or two and then switch back once promotion is available again. The cost of non-promotional cable TV is a bit over priced. Internet Service is Excellent!! I pay for premium internet service year around. Its fairly priced and screams! At any givin time of day I can ALWAYS recieve 2MB/s and even at times i see 2.5MB/sec, Also the latency to Los Angeles from my PC is always less than 20milliseconds generally. This makes for some very low FPS ping times for online game playing or VoIP and other time critical services. For a small rural like town we are in here, Apache Junction Arizona, I am very very happy with this service is exceeds many large city areas, including COX in Phoenix/Mesa area. Awesome Job MediaCom, keep up the good work and please work on your TV pricing so i dont have to keep switching to Dish. Tony Axtell more
