I live in Raleigh but ordered my dress from Mecklenberg Bridal Gallery after speaking on the phone with Kay. She was great to work with and kept me up to date throughout the entire ordering process. I couldn't have been happier with how my gown came out. It was gorgeous and I am so thankful for their help. more

When I made my appt to try on wedding dresses they stressed that if I do not show up, I will get charged. I am fine with that. But when I arrive at your store, it would be nice to greet your potential customers. I sat in the front area for 10 minutes before someone even greeted me. Their desk is right by the waiting area so a few employees saw me and walked by me. My sales lady was awful! no personality, rude...etc. I had problems with my dress when they tried to take it in and my sales lady told me, ""I know you want it to be perfect, but it's just not going to be."" That's nice to hear when I just paid them a good amount of money for my dress. Just a terrible experience. I would not go here again and I make sure to keep my friends away as well. more

I came in to look at dresses at Mecklenburg Bridal and I had an amazing experience! We were helped by Kay who was so nice and helpful!! She let us look through the dresses and pick out the ones we liked which we loved! When we were looking at a dress on, she would say how nice it looked and would give my mother and I time to talk it over ourselves. We found the dress that day and they were so great with helping me that my bridal party and mother all got there dresses there too! Everything came in on time and alterations done on the dresses looked and fit great! I tell every bride I know to go to Mecklenburg Bridal! My experience with Mecklenburg was to be envied- the staff was kind, considerate and timely. I purchased my wedding dress along with my bridesmaid gowns from the store and everything came in absolutely perfect. I was able to speak with the staff on the phone when I had questions or concerns about my order and they always put me at ease. I was thrilled to find a dress that could be created just for my height- which was not the case at other shops. (No shortening needed when it came in!) My bridesmaids (some from other states) said it was very easy to order their gowns with the help of Mecklenburg's staff. I highly recommend this bridal gallery to all brides I know. more

This is one bridal gallery that you cannot afford to miss if you are looking for excellent service, broad selection, and an atmosphere that will help you make the best choice possible for your wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses or mother of the bride/groom gowns. I have purchased a wedding gown for my daughter, bridesmaid gowns, and gown for myself for her wedding as well as my daughter-in-law purchasing her wedding gown and gowns for her entire wedding party. All were stunning, with excellent caring service towards each of us! This store deserves 5+ star rating for the personalized attention given to me and my family! The store layout is beautiful with lots of mirrors and area for the brides to gain a full picture of how they appear in each gown. I don't believe that you will find a better selection of gowns anywhere in the area - whether it is for bridal, bridesmaid, or mothers! Check it out! more

I found the dress of my dreams at Mecklenburg Bridal Gallery. You won't find a better selection of dresses in Charlotte! My consultant was so friendly and helpful and made my experience so much fun! The store is gorgeous and the prices are the best in Charlotte. They also had the Bridesmaids dress that I picked out of a magazine and we purchased all of the bridesmaids dresses there. Even the Mother of the Bride and Groom found their dresses there! I can't say enough wonderful things about Mecklenburg Bridal Gallery. The staff really took care of us! more

This was my first bridal botique that I went to when finding a wedding dress. From the start, it was horrible. As I entered the door this older lady was supposed to help me and guide me through the process, but she said that she had another client too and would be jumping back and forth between me and her other client. The only thing she showed me were the dresses and never once checked on me after that. When I finally found a dress I liked I walked out to view it in the mirror and stood there for 30 minutes waiting on someone to help me. Finally another employee saw me standing and said she would get her. 15 min after that the lady came back and I asked for a veil to try on but she never returned with it and my appt was over. I ended up finding the same dress (that I bought) at J Majors and they were the best. Awesome customer service. Maybe Mecklenburg bridal should learn from them and not double book clients! more

The will not let you take a photo of the dress. When I contacted them to get fitted they never got back to me but when the date came I requested them to confirm they called and wanted to know why I missed the appointment? I then e-mailed an apology and requested to know if they were available on another day and if I could set up a different earlier date to look at bridesmaid dresses. They never got back to me. I had ordered and picked up my wedding shoes from them (dyed blue as I asked) it was a bad dye job, under the jewels was white spots you could see if I moved my foot and the jewels moved. On the hunt for my wedding gown, I had no clue as to what I liked. I ended up falling in love with a beautiful, strapless, lace gown with a gorgeous lace train. Mecklenburg Bridal had a vast selection of wedding dresses and they were extremely friendly about my “dig in and try every single one on” approach. \r \r I liked the fact that they guided me into how to select my dress and didn’t just leave me to fend for myself. Once I found my perfect dress, I was even able to bargain a bit with them to get the price reduced a bit. They were a great bridal boutique to work with and I was happy to do business with them. I also ended up getting my veil there from Jet. \r \r Overall, I would definitely say to check this place out if searching for a bridal store with lots of selection. I would never recommend this place to anyone I like. I walked in and immediately noticed the large sign stating that you could not take pictures or have video, when I asked why, the rude, snobby woman behind the counter explained that the designers will not allow it; HOWEVER, they allow it at most other bridal stores so that was a flat out lie. Then she explained to me that I had to pay $5 per dress to try on bridesmaids dresses which is just ridiculous, I got married a few years ago and different stores carry different sample dresses so we would go from store to store finding the different dresses and never paid a dime. I walked out after she told me that and went to NY Bride and they allowed me to take all the pictures I wanted to show my sister (who lives out of state) and allowed me to write down all the style numbers too. Mecklenburg Bridal was the most unprofessional, rude bridal store I have ever been to. Never ever would they earn my business! Such a shame too because that's where I was planning on ordering my dress from...glad I found out who they really were before I did! more

I was extremely happy with my experience at Mecklenburg Bridal. From the call to set up my appointment through the purchase, Kay was very sweet and helpful. When you arrive, they take you on a tour through the store to see how the (400+) dresses are organized by style. You are then free to pull as many dresses as you want to try. I really appreciated this freedom. While Kay was available to help, she wasn't overbearing at all. Most of the dresses fell within my $1500 budget and I was thrilled with my final choice. I have not received the dress yet, but I am confident that MB will not disappoint. They also have a very knowledgeable veil consultant/designer in-house (Jet Taylor) from whom I will probably purchase my veil. **Remember to print their CitySearch page and you won't have to pay the $25 fee. more

I went to Mecklenburg Bridal to look for my wedding dress after hearing they were such a great place. They were not - at least not to me. When I made my appointment, I gave the woman the styles I was most interested in and she said that would be fine. But when I got there, the girl who assisted me only brought me 3 of the 11 styles. I asked to see the others and she said they don't carry them. Why couldn't the woman on the phone have told me that?! And then, the dresses she had me try on were dirty and had rips in them. I have a pretty good imagination, but I couldn't imagine spending hundreds of dollars on any of the dresses I tried on. They have some antiquated rules in place and do not allow photographs to be taken, which I found odd - how can a bride be expected to make a decision about the most important article of clothing she will ever wear without being able to see a picture of herself in the dress? And the staff just seemed uninterested in helping me find a dress, so I will definitely be purchasing my wedding dress elsewhere. more

You have got to go to Mecklenburg Bridal! As the mother-of -the-bride and a very picky person, I would highly recommend Mecklenburg Bridal for all of your wedding needs. My daughter and I found her bridal dress & veil, her bridesmaid dresses, my mother of the bride dress, and my mother of the groom dress there. They are BY FAR the nicest, most accomodating people and have the best selection of gowns for all bridal party needs. We tried on over thirty bridal dresses and they never made us feel like we were hassling them. We have had a very positive experience and think you will be pleased, too. They have a wide selection of everything, reasonable prices, and the people who work there aren't snooty! The other shops just seemed really stuffy and snobby. Weddings should be fun........ shopping for them should be fun too! We used Susannah Funk at Mecklenburg Bridal. Our experience couldn't have been better! :-) Pros: Best In Charlotte more

My daughter and I purchased her wedding dress and my m.o.b. dress at Mecklenburg Bridal. We loved working with them. When we got it narrowed down to three dresses for my daughter, there was quite a range in cost. There was no pressure to go with the more expensive dress and, in fact, we ended up with the least expensive. Staff were always courteous and helpful. The $25 fee is a drop in the bucket and, of course, it is a ""credit"" toward a future purchase. I would highly recommend working with this shop. more

I went to Mecklenburg Bridal as the first stop in my bridal gown search. I was drawn by their sample sale that was advertised to me by word of mouth. Given the other options for bridal boutiques, the $25 consultation fee is nothing! Most stores want you to sign your life away before trying on their items. I tried on something like 12 dresses and was allowed all the time in the world to make my decision. Although it was my first stop, Mecklenburg Bridal had exactly the gown I was looking for, and it was at a fantastic price. \r I can't believe what some of the other people are saying here. The consultation fee is something I came to expect from vendors while planning my wedding, the staff was patient and knowledgable, and the store was well kept and had a large selection of beautiful gowns.\r I continued to recieve great service throught the fitting and pressing process up until the wedding day! more

I have never been to this shop, but I do have friends in the bridal business and have been a bridal shop owner in the past. I can tell you why some shops have started charging a fee to try on gowns. Some girls are not serious shoppers and they go to bridal shops because its fun to try on the gowns or they are just price shopping with no intention to buy, taking up the sales girls time. Not to mention the wear and tear on these delicate gowns. You would understand it if you were a shop owner and had money invested in this expensive inventory. It;s not WalMart !! If dresses are soiled, beads start falling off or if the zipper gets worn out from so much wear, you can't sell it and will soon go out of business. If you purchase a gown, the fee is considered part of the down payment and is not an additional cost. Most shops now charge this fee and the ones that don't most likely will in the near future. It's becomming a more popular thing to do and if you read the bridal magazines you will see that they tell the brides to be awair of this fee.. Mecklenburg bridal is the best store that I shopped at in Charlotte. It has the most helpful staff. The staff made this experience for me as magical as I had ever wished it to be. The selection of dresses was absolutely amazing and beautiful. Everything was very clean and organized. The staff was very helpful in every aspect. Most definitely the best bridal shop I have ever been to. Pros: Great and friendly staff. Beautiful selection. Cons: NONE! more

I was actually very pleased with Mrs. Kay's ""old ways""... what I would give to meet just ONE person daily who is kind, understanding and has the""old"" fashioned values such as her. Maybe some of us should learn from example. My experience was truly one of a kind. Mrs. Kay & Chase listened to the things I did and did not want in a dress and made a few suggestions and then brought me some very beautiful dresses. The one I ended up picking was actually one that had something that I didn't initially like but looked very different ON my body. For 2+ hours of her time, lugging around countless heavy dresses and being so attentive I was more than happy to pay $25. I personally think it's a smart way for the bridal shop to make sure their brides are serious customers instead of some yahoos trying on $1K + dresses just for the heck of it. WOW!!! was the impression when I walked through the door!!! The people are friendly and professional the place is beautiful and they have the BEST selection of dresses. Being the prepared person I am I had looked into Mecklenburg Bridal on their website and called for an appointment where each explained to me about their $25.00 consultation fee and what it was about…. I had never thought of it like that before but it totally makes sense, so I was ready for it when I walked through the door (I wish some of the other brides on this site had done the same so that they could understand instead of their petty responses to the fee) I worked with Kay and she was amazing! I was not pressured and I felt like an old friend. They have everything from the guest books, the alterations, even a veil designer. The one stop place for all your wedding needs, they also have great recommendations on photographers etc… I made a two hour appointment for a Sat. and came back later in the week to try on my favorites, they already had them ready for me when I got there!! I found the dress of my dreams and am now happily married and the ENTIRE experience from the first time I walked in to portrait time to on my way to the church was so SMOOTH. I am a New York bride and was visiting my mother in law in Charlotte for a few weeks and we decided we should go shopping I had already been to quite a few stores in New York so I was familiar with (and totally understand) a consultation fee, $25.00 for their great selection was a deal!!! This was actually the last shop I went to in Charlotte and was wonderfully surprised at how beautiful the store is and how amazing the people are, much better than any of the other stores in Charlotte (I was very disappointed in the rest!) I was welcomed with my party of 4 with open arms and was able to find EVERYTHING for the girls in the wedding! My dress, veil (Jet is great), dresses for both mom and mother in law and all the bridesmaids!! Mecklenburg Bridal is a place when you walk in the door you really want to be “your bridal shop” I was so happy to find the perfect dress at the perfect place!!! I could rave about this place forever, and just a tip for other out of area brides they have AMAZING seamstresses, it is worth the trip back to have your dress fitted instead of chancing the most important outfit of your life on just anyone. (the also will atler dresses that come from somewhere else, so even if you already boughtyou should go there to have it fitted!) I will tell ALL my friends about this place, Charlotte is lucky to have such a great run shop!!! Pros: Amazing people, selection, atmosphere Cons: none! more
