Editorial review from Citysearch 3/20/2014

I do not often drink, so mostly I go to Mead for the food, which is incredible to say the least. They have a soup called ""Beer cheese soup"" which is the best thing you will ever taste and is proprietary to Mead Street as far as I know, so you will not taste it anywhere else. If you want an incredible atmosphere with great food and drinks, this is your place !! The new owner has figured out how fuse modernization without losing the feel of the beautiful old building. I noticed it is also very family friendly most of the day which was also very nice. \r \r \r \r PS: Try the healthy Chicken Wrap, it's great ! \r more

This was one of my favorite placed to 5/31/2012

This was one of my favorite placed to have dinner and drinks with friends. The menu has changed and so did the food quality! The only think that is close to being the same are the gravy fries. We use to have to wait for a table most nights and it was worth the wait but now there was no wait and now I know why. If the new owner is reading this please bring back the old menu, the nightly specials and the good food. If it was working well why change it! I won't go back until I know it's worth it again! more

The customer service is TERRIBLE! They 3/20/2012

The customer service is TERRIBLE! They have signs outside that say $3 drinks during happy hour, but don't honor them. The owner is condescending at best. There are lots of great restaurants in the Highlands, but this is not one of them. Don't give business to this awful restaurant! more

This is my favorite place...period! 8/11/2010

I love this place. Even when it is busy. They don't care on what color of hair or eyes you have. I'll choose this fun and laid back place over anything. However, the sushi place across the street gets my attention too! Love there sweet potato fries! more

Poor Customer Service 10/27/2009

On october 24th at around 2:30 in the afternoon my two girlfriends and i went to lunch at the mead street station, which was recommended to us by my girlfriend who had lunch there about a week ago with her coworkers. We walked in and it was crowded, i think there was only one table available so my friends and i seated ourselves. After sitting there for about fifteen minutes with out any acknowledgement what so ever, my friend made a comment saying ,if we don't get any service we are leaving. Just then a waitress walked up to us and asked if we had been helped, we said no and she gave us some menus and said someone will be right with you. After waiting another five minutes a very nice waiter walked up to us and asked if we were ready to order, so we ordered and when he brought our food he was surprised to see that we had not been given any napkins or tableware. To make a long story short i have never been treated so poorly. I am a native and minority of north denver and i frequent the shops and restaurants often. I know restaurants get busy , but never have i been at any business without any acknowledgement. If it were not for the nice waiter we would have walked, who also if i may mention was very pleased with the tip we left him. I will not be recommending your place of business to anyone. I think your employees need some training on how to treat people of all races and diversity. Pros: Good Food Cons: Bad Service more

Found this place on Citysearch during a recent trip to Denver. I read a good review of their ribs and my waitress also recommended them, so I gave them a try. My dinner was served very quickly and I was very pleased with my selection. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and very tasty. The green beans were fresh and had good flavor, with a sprinkling of crushed almonds and the mashed potatoes had a hint of garlic. The half slab I ordered was nearly as big as most other restaurants' full slabs. I left there stuffed and satisfied. The staff is very friendly with and obvious ""neighborhood bar"" feel - no pretention here and a very casual atmosphere. My one disappointment was the live band. They played something akin to Blues and they were pretty good, but the sound system must have been set to 11! It was uncomfortably loud in there and I was seated as far away from the band as I could get. (Un)fortunately, they have speakers all over the place... ;) Pros: good food, great neighborhood atmosphere Cons: ridiculously loud more

Best Pub in town! 3/1/2007

We LOVE this place. It is perfect for a easy going date night or going out with friends. Friday and Saturday nights get busy so arrive early and parking can be a mess, but the food, beer, and prices are worth the wait and the parking frustration. Pros: Food, prices, and local attractions Cons: Parking and crowded during peak hours more

The best BBQ ribs in Denver! Great food, Relaxing atmosphere, Friendly Staff, Live Music 1/8/2007

Mead Street Station is my favorite pub in Denver! Cons: No live music on Friday night. more

Best Burger! 11/20/2006

I really love eating here, the biggest problem is that they don't have enough space to fit all thier tables, which are always packed! Pros: The food Cons: Too crowded more

Should win Denver's best burger 11/14/2006

We found out about Mead St's burgers almost on accident. After walking out of a mediocre ""best burger"" joint (that apparently won some awards), we decided we needed something better, and walked into Mead St. We got delicious burgers, well priced, with a side of onion rings (with delicious honey mustard) and poudain. We've gone back several times, and I'm always impressed by the food, and the love and care to create it. more

My favorite Bar 11/1/2006

I have lived within 2 miles of 32nd street for 4 years MEAD ST STATION has allways been my favorite! Great food, folks and atmasphere. Very friendly and the food is great along with the nightly entertainment. I highly recomend it to all. There is no hoity toity bs. It rocks!! Pros: Everything Cons: nothing more

Best Lunches 10/25/2006

They have such a great lunch menu, I have something different every time I go and it is always excellent! Their fish and chips is amazing and so are their salads. I highly reccommend checking this place out. more

I'm a regular. 12/10/2005

Mead Street Station is one of my greatest discoveries. The food is amazing, the live music is fun and the location is great! Did I mention the amazing food? You will find a good variety of food here, all of it is very good. I always get the southwest tuna (blackened with pesto) rare and a bowl of green chili - this is one of my favorite dishes ever! The ambience is nice albeit congested. They have good beers on tap and they carry local seasonal brews. Top off your night by going to nearby Mondo Vino and pick up a good wine or my favorite... St Bernardus Abt 12 (Belgian beer). Now THAT is a perfect night. Pros: Great Food, Good Selection, Good beer selection Cons: Tough parking, Crowded more

Love it! 9/26/2005

Ah, Mead Street. How you enchant me with your tasty blackened tuna, your fish and chips, your delicious brews. Very much enjoyed the jazz band on Saturday night. This place has exactly the kind of ease that you need in a neighborhood bar and grill. I've had business lunches, romantic dinners, and just a few (or more) rounds of drinks here. Never disappoints. Pros: Nearby, Excellent food, Great ambiance Cons: Hard to find parking, Closes early more

Mead St Station is excellent for casual dining 7/17/2005

Great food and service. Menu selection is excellent. And the place is totally non-smoking! Pros: Food, Non-smoking, Did I say food? :) Cons: Closed on Sundays more

Neighborhood Treasure 5/20/2005

As a neighbor, we really value the consistancy of this restaurant. The food , service, and music make this place a Neighborhood Treasure. Although smoking is allowed, as a non-smoker, the air system is great and not a bother. Maybe being closed on Sundays allows the owner needed rest to maintain her quality as she oversees every move in the kitchen. A rarity these days, when an owner is so hands on the food. more

The ""Best"" 11/21/2004

Best casual food around 3/6/2003

This place is great. It's a favorite neighborhood hangout, but it's worth the drive as well. I've been there many times and I've never had a bad meal. Try the fish and chips; they're the bomb. Pros: Good value, Great food Cons: Crowded weekends more

Delicious Pub Grub 10/15/2002

Great place for a burger with friends or a casual glass of wine after dinner. Pros: great food, friendly service, fun open mic Cons: parking can be hard, too smoky sometimes more
