No longer America's Favorite Fries? 12/15/2002

McDonalds, home of America's favorite fries, is no more. I've eaten there about three times in the past few months, and still nothing but disappointment. Since they've changed their recipe, they have been nothing but dry and tasteless. They are sometimes barely warm, and have no salt at all. Maybe its just that the local employees have more important things on their mind, but even so I don't find the fries nearly as delicious as they used to be. Who ever sued McDonalds for making their fries too fattening should be hearing from my lawyer! -Manday Pros: Fast, Filling, Easy Cons: Fries aren't as good, as they could be, or used to be :( more

Something fishy with McD's fries 12/15/2002

I am a huge french fry lover. McDonald's used to be my favorite ones for years. No more. It seems as though the fries and the filet o fish are being fried in the same vats and the fries are coming out tasting fishy. I have tried them over the past few weeks at several places especially the one located on Route 1 in Foxboro Mass. THey taste terrible and I have given up totally on McDonalds fries. more

McDonald's?! How far have we fallen to rate thier fries the best in Boston! McDonald's does many things well, especially in giving to charities. And, you can be sure to always have a reliable menu, good prices, fast service and bacteria-free food, but their fries cannot be the BEST! I only occassionally go into Boston, and I'll admit I haven't tried any or most of the places voted 'best', but I can say this, Fuddruckers should have been amoung the very best, if not THE very best! Always hot, large and'meaty' fries, not greasy, they have that rich, golden, perfect fry flavor...sometimes served with melted cheddar cheese, or with delicious mouth-watering chili and cheese, they are also BEST with just ketchup or all by their beautiful, tasty tater selves!!! more

When McDonald fries are cooked perfectly they compete with the best of them. It's when they are overcooked - and this happens often - that they are extremely dry and crunchy. Another problem I have with McDonald French Fries is when they are cold they are not too appetizing. There are times when they are not hot enough when they are served. The best of the Frozen 11/26/2002

No french fry that has been frozen, blanched, or cooked unpeeled, can be given serious consideraation as a great french fry. To be considered a french fry, a potato must be cut square, the longer the better, cooked in one go, in lard at a temperature of at least 500 degrees, until it floats, and immediately served with white vinegar and salt. Todays generation has few places to go to seek a real fry. Fast food outlets have created a different expectation with young people. They know no different. Fry ignorance is our worst enemy. more
