WORST DINE OUT EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD 5/14/2011

I went to Mc Creary's for a Sunday afternoon lunch. My waitress spilled a glass of water across the table, shattering the glass and soaking all three of us at the table. Small accident, and I actually felt worse for her than I did for our group. However, she didn't clean up all the glass...we kept finding it on the table. She forgot our ranch dressing, our french fries, never offered refills, and she took my friend's soda and never returned. When we were looking around for her, she was sitting at a table with someone she knew and was just shooting the breeze. We eventually got the attention of the manager and told him we were missing ranch, french fries and a soda and that we all needed refills. He took care of it for us but the girl came back and charged us full price for everything. We asked for a discounted rate because we were all soaked, had glass on our table and she missed half of our order. She said she couldn't discount it and we couldn't find the manager. I've eaten here before and the food wasn't that great and the service was always horrible. This time seals the deal for me...I'll never go back there to eat again and I feel like their service was so poor that I needed to post this. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! more

Kitchen gets seated first 3/20/2011

After waiting for 45 mins, the next table open for the number in our party was given to people not on the list that came from the kitchen area. Nothing like getting bumped by an inside connection and then have to wait 20 more mins. Bad PR ! more

Happy Hour... 9/6/2009

Good little local spot to grab an afternoon beer. They have your typical Irish selection (Harp, Smithwick's, and Guinness), plus a cider, assorted bottles, and a montly special (which has been far from special lately). The food is good. I don't think it has changed since the restaurant has opened. McCreary's has become a great standby place. Nothing special, just a nice quiet place. Pros: The burgers are great Cons: The service can be slow more

my home away from home 3/24/2009

this is home to me, and i have been there almost three years.. that should say somethin! even before i began working there, my family would come in, i remember henry in particular(who is greatly missed) , but it was just a neat, unique, delicious place not just to eat at, but to hang out and make friends and be treated well!!... try the dry wings (; Pros: ev-er-y-thaaaang Cons: uh... the line at the register (: more

Great food, great beer, great atmosphere 3/22/2009

McCreary's is a very special place. It is just about the heartbeat of downtown Franklin. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the beer selection is good, and the food! The food is great. I have eaten fish and chips everywhere from Hawaii to England, and McCreary's remains my favorite. Same things with the wings and the burgers. You just can't go wrong with the food. Add a warm, family friendly restaurant, and this is one great place. On my own website, enjoyingbeer dot com, I gave the Pub 5 stars out of 5. I re-affirm that here. more

Yum! 3/22/2009

Loved it had to come for lunch two days in a row! more

Great place to call home 3/22/2009

I frequent McCreary's often. The best happy hour prices anywhere. The food is great. I recommend the hot wings! Ask for Juan's special sauce. more

Love this place! 3/22/2009

McCreary's is a great little place to have a beer and good food. It's small, but it gives you a chance to meet new people! Try the Salmon salad and of course the fish and chips...yumm! more

We Locals love the PUB!!!!! 3/20/2009

For us locals, there is no better place for good beer, food, atmosphere, and friendship! The staff is wonderful and we locals love them all! It is a very friendly place for all! Other non-local drunk red-nks such as AMSMITH100 and BUDDHA100 please stay away as "you people" don't know how to act in public nor can you people handle your alcohol!!!! Pros: GREAT STAFF Cons: The Red-nks who are AMSMITH100 and BUDDHA100 more

All Around Awesome 3/16/2009

McCreary's is a fixture in downtown Franklin. Their staff has always been wonderful and I have never had a bad experience there. The new owner is a gem and has been at McCreary's since its doors opened 7 years ago. Great food, great music, great staff. Pros: Best Irish food in town. Cons: None, really. more

Concern over recent postings 3/15/2009

I have been a customer of McCreary's since it opened and have always been treated with respect. The only time I have seen or heard a problem was when the staff was treated rudely or someone was refused service based on their sobriety. I strongly recommend this place but remember... A good Guinness pour takes about 5 minutes so don't get in a rush!!!! Pros: Great staff and interesting patrons Cons: My inability to get there often enough more

McCreary's, my hometown favorite 3/15/2009

When the pizza place closed its doors years ago, I was bummed. I had no idea the new, Irish pub would become my family's favorite place in Franklin. What a great place to bring my laptop and write, catch up with old friends over dinner, have a cider and beer with my wife or hang with my kids. Franklin and Cool Springs has so many franchises. McCreary's stands out in the crowded restaurant scene. It is the place where I go to break up the weekly routine. A burger and a beer, fish and chips, the tuna sandwich, or the bangers and mash - you can't go wrong. I don't give 5's, but McCreary's has earned a 5 over the years! Pros: Unique, unpretentious, good beer, great food Cons: Need more outside seating more

Awesome place 3/15/2009

Always loved McCreary's, great part of Franklin. Always love their fish n chips, burgers, etc. Great people too. Wouldn't want downtown Franklin without McCreary's. Pros: great food, great people, great atmosphere Cons: I'm not old enough to drink beer there yet more

Favorite place downtown 3/15/2009

McCreary's! The word makes me smile. So many good times I've had there, it's really ridiculous. :) I could not imagine walking down Main Street without seeing the green letters, the lights, and everything that makes it what it is. The food is good, the people are great, and the atmosphere is one of a kind. I have recommended it to people I know (if they haven't already enjoyed it) and would do so anytime. Great place to chill. Great place overall. 5 stars. Pros: Atmosphere, people, food, fantastic! Cons: I still haven't tried everything on the menu ;) more

Horrible 3/14/2009

Very rude service. May not typically be like this but we sure experienced it. Better luck to others. Pros: none Cons: rude staff more

will check it out this week 3/14/2009

We will be going in on St Paddys day to check it out. Called and asked about the two negative reviews posted here in regards to verbal confrontation. After speaking with restaurant rep, we have no hesitation in experiencing this wonderful and respectful environment. I will come back to this page after our evening out and share our experience with you all. Happy St. Patrick’s Day !!!! Pros: n/a Cons: n/a more

Our Family's Favorite Hang-Out 3/14/2009

My husband and I love McCreary's. It's our favorite downtown Franklin hang-out. Bottom line? It's got a small-town atmosphere that we've come to love. It's small, it's loud, and we go there so often that the servers know what drinks to bring us before we say a word. I always order a cider. And almost everyone who works there knows it. It's by far one of the brightest stars in Historic Franklin. And it's not because the food is uber-gourmet (it's not) or the Irish atmosphere is uber-authentic (it's not). It's because of the sense of family and community that exists there. That's really the heart of McCreary's. We know almost all the servers by name. We've got "favorite tables" at which we like to sit. And we love the live Celtic music they offer on weekends, though we usually go earlier in the evening to avoid the rush, and so we miss the music. You definitely don't want to miss the music. We can eat there as a family for reasonable amount of money, too, because we share entrees. (We'd all do well to cut down on the ridiculously large American food portions we've come to expect as "normal".) My husband and I will often split a burger and chips, which leaves just enough room for a little dessert from Ben & Jerry's (right down the street) or Ivycake (MMM cupcakes! also right down the street). We are part of the woodwork at McCreary's and proud to be so. May our beloved, small-town pub enjoy a long and prosperous existence! Pros: Family-Friendly, Small-town Atmosphere Cons: Not the place for quiet conversation! more

Great Service, Great Food, Great Time 3/14/2009

I've gone to McCreary's over 50 times and I always enjoy my visit. Last night our friendly server, Cassie, bent over backwards to accomodate a food request for my my wife and her friend. She pulled it off, the ladies loved the food and made me the hero. I'll be back soon. Pros: Servers always helpful. Cons: Can get noisy when busy. more

  • In Short
McCreary's is the spot to make friends over dinner. This cramped but charming eatery, with its long, communal tables and friendly vibe, is a favorite in Franklin where residents, from 20-somethings to retirees, have made it their hangout. While most of the menu items have Irish-sounding names, there's lots of American grub. The fish-and-chips, satisfyingly crunchy cod filets with thick-cut fries, surpass expectations.
