Great Place 11/7/2005

Maymount Park is the best park in the area. It is huge with lots of open space just to play frisbee or have a picnic. The indoor center with the fish is excellent. The petting zoo is fun for kids. They have many animals. Plus it is free. The parking is limited, but otherwise it is great. more

Good one 9/30/2005

Maymont is a good place to see animals beautiful gardens, and the nature center. You can go close to the animals in the petting zoo area and feed them with food bought from machines. The walk through the park is up and down hills, so be aware of this with small children. The nature center is really nice and perfect place for the family and especilly for kids. more

Beautiful Park, and FREE! 9/24/2005

Maymont has so much to offer! There is a nature center, a historic house that offers tours (check website for times), Japanes and Italian Gardens, and a petting zoo. You can feed the goats, sheep, horses, etc., the animals are all very friendly and fun to watch. There are even animals that you would find in other zoos. The gardens are beautiful to walk around in, but you have to keep in mind that there are a lot of hills and stairs to go up and down to get to them. There is a tram that you can take around the park, as well as horse and carriage rides. Beautiful place to go! more

Outdoor Fun for Families 8/26/2005

Maymont is a unique place with animals to see, beautiful gardens, and the nature center. You can pet the animals in the petting zoo area and feed them with food bought from machines. The walk through the park is up and down hills, so be aware of this with small children. The nature center is interesting but was really built too small. It is hard to get around in there if there are many people there with strollers. more

Great family fun & lots of exercise 8/5/2005

This park is great for all ages. The trails around the park are strenuous however. There is a nice petting zoo and other zoo type animals. There is also an aquarium that is open in the afternoons. On Monday afternoons this summer they are offering music and kid's crafts. There is a tram that goes around the park for those that have difficulty walking. There is a house to tour and wonderful flowers. We always take out of town guests here. It's easy to forget you're in the city. They do suggest a donation but it is not required. more

So much to offer I can't fit it all in a review! 8/5/2005

Maymont is FREEEEEE! Which is a big deal for me -- they have a small animal petting barn, a wildlife exhibit that trails along a walking path where you can see Bears, Bison, a Bob Cat, some cute foxes, hawks, owls and eagles -- There's also a group of themed gardens like the "Japanese Garden" with a pond and a waterfall (plus others) and there's a Nature center with local area fish, otters, and turtles -- They give tours and classes, there are historic carriage rides and concerts all year long -- Maymont is a wonderful place to go whatever the season! more
