This is one of those places where the patrons ruin the entire atmosphere by getting way to drunk and the bar tender could care less.\r \r My girlfriend and I came here last nigh...

Nothing Special 6/26/2005

Simple fare, good drinks and ok service. Large space reminds me of a cafeteria. Some booths but the noise at the bar and other tables makes it hard to converse on a busy night. Pros: Decent Food, Decent Drinks Cons: Spotty service, Noisey more

first of all i have to recommend the michaelicous, it is one of there specialties and my all time favorite. you can't find it anywhere in new york. believe me because i have tried. there food is also fantastic. i recommend everything, i have never had a bad meal there and i have tried almost there dishes. they have such a unique twist to all there dishes. they have a passion for food and fun! side note, the dog menu is pretty good! my maltese loves the rice and chicken! Wow, my family and I had a great time. We ordered both traditional dishes, like their steak fahitas, chicken burritos, and some innovative Mexican dishes, such as the chicken cancun and calamari and we were addicted after the first mouthwatering bite. Their service was quick and friendly, not settling for mediocrity. The environment was colorful and pleasing to the eye. On another occasion, my husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed their perfect margharita and one of their house specialties, the Michaelicious. All in all, we had a blast! great bar- great servers- food is fantastic. i always get the chicken domingo- their mole sauce is great. all the food they make on premise. love the outside though. cool to sit at Maya's on a friday afternoon with, hands down... the best cadillac margarita and steak nachos. more

Fun Mexican! 1/31/2005

Fun place! Especially when to crowd grows. Fun margharita and hang-out place the patio is great the food is great, the service could be a little faster - don't go when your in a hurry. after reading the great reviews-we decided to try it for ourselves. loved everything we ordered-started with the steak nachos-then had the garlic shrimp and no-meat burrito-the portions are enormous. loved the drink menu-they say a full bar-they really mean it! i hate tequila-so the peach long island was great-but my wife ordered the top shelf margarita and it was great. the service was ok-our waitress was really busy-but was attentive. FYI-found out appetizers are $2 off mon-friday in the bar (good deal)-they are pet friendly-and the patio is really nice-they also have dinner for 2 for $17-nice.... I have lived in Novato and have been everywhere! mexican food is a staple here in Northern CA. The place is my all time favorite. They do mexican food better than anyplace else. They have the best waitstaff-friendly-smart and they have been there forever (which says a lot about the mngmt) The widest selection of food and drinks (there is a 5 page drink menu...with 90 tequilas...gotta get their signature ""cazuela bowl drink"" or their ""topshelf or mango margaritas"") For a special treat-ask for something off the menu and the bartender will make it for you. Great huge outside area-love it here. Very kid friendly too. Fridays are a little loud though. LOVE IT! more

Worth the Trip! 12/17/2003

If you're in the mood for Mexican in SF, you really gotta try this place. There are not many places that are worth getting in the car and driving a few minutes outside the city for, but this is definitely one. The food is that much better than anything you can get in town. (lower rent? better labor pool? who cares why, it just is!). The portions are GIANT and it's really inexpensive. You can tell its family owned and they know what they're doing -- food, service, personal attention, everything is perfect every time. What more could you want? That's the only word I can think of to describe the food. The bar scene is really hopping and I had gone a few times before I had eaten there. If I only knew what I was missing! The food is fantastic. Definitely the best salsa around, may be better than Border Cafe in Cambridge, my all time favorite. They have great versions of the normal stuff, plus some more simple but creative dishes that are done to perfection. great fajitas-the meat was tender and thick and alot big drinks-cheap margaritas-good tequila-$5 loved everything about it great tv's everywhere-good to watch the series on monday night they have football-$1 coorslight $1 tacos they don't skimp on the quality-quantity of their stuff...more restaurants should do that-cut their profit margin to offer better goods for their customers we love the Maya for that! more

Had a small company party-no room charge-got a special menu-brought our own music-brought in a projector-good communication-even got the owners home number to call on-was totally under budget. Great time-love the food-will plan another office party there. Pros: special menu, cheap, food is great Cons: nothing! more

excellent mexican food-best i've had 9/15/2003

The food is huge and really good. I thought the menu is really good also. Alot to choose from. Had the steak quesadilla-chicken domingo-steak picado-combo 4 meal-way too much food. Had an oversized pina colada & topshelf margarita-excellent. The only downside I found was that is was busy-and the food took a little long. Love This Place 9/13/2003

We always have a great time at this place. The food is great-it's inexpensive, but they don't skimp on the quality-at all! They have a funny menu with ""rules"" and they have a ton of things to eat. We've been eating there for 2 months (just moved in around the corner)-and we still haven't tried everything. The chicken cancun is really good & so is the BBQ wrap & the chicken mole. We try and go there on fridays-we always get their fajitas for 2 ($20-you can't beat it). Friday is always crowded though-park around the corner. TERRIBLE 9/2/2003

I would NEVER go to this restaurant AGAIN. We had a party set up in advance. I placed numerous calls and a fax to the manager to follow up, and received no response. Finally, I called on the DAY OF to confirm, and they had no record of it. The manager whom I initially worked with was on vacation and was extraordinarily rude when the waitstaff called her and her husband on vacation to help confirm. She made us feel like it was OUR error when it was completely THEIR error. I have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant owner in my life. At the last minute, we found another restaurant in Marin that was more than willing to treat their customers kindly AND accommodate us. I would NEVER set foot in their restaurant again or recommend this place to anyone. Beware! Cons: Rude Staff, Incompetent Mgmt, Non-Responsive more

super food-fun place 8/27/2003

went there last friday...just moved into the area ate there-drank there-played pool-they are open late...ate dinner at 11:00...no place else is open-but i would go there anyway shared a giant plate of steak fajitas-way cheap couldn't even eat all my dinner-combo meal drinks were strong.... (there was an idiotic group of 4 older people at the near by table giving the waitress a hard time-she later told me they complained that the margaritas were weak...no way dude! I couldn't finish my giant topself glass) very good-cheap-open late-excellent service-super menu more

we love mexican food. this is the mom&pop olace on another level. professional-courteous-knowledgable staff-fantastic drinks-the bar crowd kin of boisterous (glad it is seperated from the restaurant) we really liked sitting outside with our drinks and dinner. loved eating next to the creek & watching everyone. the location couldn't be any easier to get to. very fun time. I haven't been to Maya's before and was pleasently surprised at how good the food is. I have been disappointed with all the Chevy's/Baja's. Quite a large place with great food. Everything I had was very good. (had the Steak Picado-Grilled Chicken Ceasar Wrap & Chicken Cancun Wrap) The drink list is incredible (Horni-Rita & Electric Lemonade) The waitress was so thoughtful and informative. I will go back when I am in the area again. The place was really crowded though-Sears Point Race Fans... It's too bad they aren't closer. Everything we ate was less than $10. Good deal.
