Looking Good! 3/28/2011

We all know a good hairdresser, that listens to what you want and has suggestions is a great find! Mary is one of those stylists that lets you explain the color and hairstyle that fits your needs. The color she (and I) selected is fantastic. She also cut and styled my hair and helped me choose products that would help the color last when I washed my hair and products to keep the style looking good all day. There are so many things to choose from it was good to have her help. Just today I have had so many complaments on my hair. The salon is big and they do everything! Thanks Mary. I will be back to see you! more

What a cold and unfriendly experience! I wouldn't recommend this place. This salon charges waaaay too much for what you actually get. The Salon needs a make over ASAP. Send over Samantha from ""Salon Take Overs"". Maybe she could show the owner a thing or two. more

- Maui Hair & Body Ill start off positive by saying that my hair cut was GREAT!!!! HOWEVER, First off, it was entierly over priced!!!!! almost 25 buscks to blow dry my hair?? LOL and the rest of the price list was a joke too. The staff was rude!!!! They all seemed more worried about their personal lives and leaving then coming up and helping a customer. The girl who did my hair, stephanie, barly said BOO to me...... When she was washing my hair, it was like a 2nd grader was doing it. When she cut my hair, she was using thew comb so hard on my head, and while she was cutting it, hair kept whipping in my eye balls and she combed it....NOT very comfortable. Im not 100% sure the hair cut can out weight the horriable experience, but i will be trying it again. NOTE TO STAFF--- You need tabatha!!!! salon - over priced and RUDE ~~~ more

not only cant you spell, but you're gay bashing in 2008.... poor thing!!!!!!!! Its just a salon.... they do good work they sell shampoo... its very simple. Do the people of maui really care about ""city search"" or that someone might have been not so nice wile shopping for shampoo.... i don't think so!!! GROW UP, MOVE ON.... and have some aloha! What a shame!! 10/24/2008

Its funny how just little words can ruin just about anything. I was a customer of Maui Hair and Body but moved to the west side and found a great salon to take care of me. I found out about this site from my hair girl to say some nice things about them and I find this on Maui Hair and Body. Too bad that it's runned by such a two faced part owner Mary Backwell and her gay partner Rob Toscani. Surprised to hear that Mary W is still there and brown nosing. I feel sorry for all the workers because a few of them are worth something and are good at what they do. But with the economy being so slow, they can't leave such a black hole to find another job. All I can say is ""good luck"" to the workers and I hope you all open your own place. more

Customer Service Lacking 6/5/2008

I was a long time customer of Maui Hair and Body and have to agree with the other people. Their customer service is lacking and it is like a ""ghost town"". I asked the employees if it's been busy and she said it has been slow lately and I'm guessing that is why there is hardly anybody there.\r \r The customer service was below average. I went one day to get waxed and for some hair product. When I went to get waxed, I did get greeted at the counter, but when I was glimpsing over the products no one even asked if I needed help. I have gone to other salons and their customer service is better and that is why I return. They greet the customer, offer them water, and are on time. It is a very welcoming environment and I feel Maui Hair and Body lacks that. If Maui Hair and Body were up to par with their customer service standards, I'm sure they wouldn't be so slow when it comes to booking appointments.\r \r And to the person who says she worked there, I'm sorry, but your opinion is biased due to the fact that you worked there and there is no need to get so defensive. And this post is REAL, not FAKE. more

New receptionist stink 3/12/2008

I've been a customer of maui hair and body for quite sometime now. I've seen the good the bad. Some come and some go. Its a shame how often they've been getting rid of there receptionists. They all seemed great. Always greeted w/smiles. Not to sure of whats been going on lately. They've hired this stuck up white girl that looks down on anyone other than her race. I think they really need to pay attention on who they have running there salon. I mean really how often does the owner actually take part in the Salon. It has gone way down in just even the last yr. I hope it picks up where it once was. I'd like to think i'd return for services but until they take care of the front. I WONT Pros: The contractors Cons: Receptionist more

Salon With Lots of Potential 3/11/2008

Well, there are lots of good and lots of bad things i can say about Maui Hair N Body. I've worked there for couple years now and I've seen so many changes and peole get fired. They are ""fire happy"" there. If they don't like you, they will find a way to get you outta there! No warnings too! I think that's very unprofessional. Some of us have families and bills to pay. Atleast give a warning. The receptionists are never to be trusted. Especially Mary W. She is a two faced person who always wants to please everyone. Very sad because she portrays herself as a sweet loving lady. The greatest thing about that salon is that we contractors all get along and are awesome people who are reliable and do great work! Hopefully someday one of us will open their own salon and we'll all follow=) Pros: Great stylists, location Cons: atmosphere, music more

I AM A LONG TIME CLIENT AND FRIEND OF THIS SALON. I LOVE IT THERE. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THIS SALON FOR ALL MY SERVICES FOR YEARS. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS ON HERE AND I HAVE TO SAY THEY ARE ALL FAKE. i have worked for both of the owners and i can't find one bad thing to say about either one of them, when it was time for me to move on they both helped me start my own buisness and were nothing but the best support i could ever ask for. i wonder why the person on the comment below said that ""she"" was the owner... because there are two owners a man and a woman. not the average\r person knows that there is two. so this is why a"" red flag"" sprung up in my mind that these are all fake!\r i still go into this salon about every 3 weeks to have something done from waxing to getting my hair cut. i feel like the people that work there now are very happy and are all good at what they do. i know there have been some changes over the past few months and i have to say it is for the best. they had some mean local girls working at the front desk and they were VERY VERY rude! i assume that they have been fired because i haven't seen them there in awhile and now have no job to go to so they sit on their butts at home and write fake reviews about a salon that needed to fire them a long time ago! it's really too bad, because the owners don't need jaded ex employes telling lies all over the internet.i hope that if your a new person reading this please go in & check it out. everyone currently at Maui Hair & body is pleasant , courteous, professional. Ghost Town!! 11/20/2007

I'm a frequent waxing customer at Maui Hair & Body. I was currently in on Sunday and noticed something very different! Two older women were working at the front desk area, some of the employees were sitting outside and it just seemed like a ""ghost town"" in there. The atmosphere has changed for the worse and the feeling of ""aloha"" is no longer there. I can remember when it was upbeat, busy and the front desk was always smiling! The feeling I get is such an irie one! Not comfortable like before! It was almost frightening. What happened to the good old Maui Hair & Body Salon I used to know?????? more

What is customer service?? 11/7/2007

My name is C. Tawney. I had services done at Maui Hair and Body Salon about 2 weeks ago. I would like to say that my hair turned out terrific!! Lehua was my stylist & she did such a great job and matched my color/highlights to exactly what I had wanted. And my haircut was one of a kind! Props to this salon for having such a great hairsytlist! Thank you Lehua for making me feel so welcome!\r Just because my hair turned out great, I can't say the same for the receptionist area. I get really annoyed when I can hear receptionists talking about their fellow co-workers and play it off. I do not even know who they were referring to but if I did then I would know the whole story. I think that it was very, very unprofessional for anyone at the front to be bad mouthing someone that they work closely with. They even said some profanilty and that was just plain rude! I felt so bad for the person they were speaking of! \r I think the owners, should better train their receptionists, to watch what they say & where they're saying it! And should talk also with other employees because some of them joined in! Pros: Location Cons: NO TEAMWORK! more

Worst Experience Ever!!!!!!! 10/22/2007

I've been a very loyal customer to Maui Hair & Body Salon. I've had services with them for over 3 years. This past time that I had went in, I received a multiple of services. I had my hair highlighted/cut, manicure/pedicure & also some waxing. I noticed that within the past couple of years they have a very high turnover in receptionists. You get used to one or two of them & then there's someone new & they of course don't know what the hell they are doing. This one incident, the receptionist was a little chunky & spoke soft. She didn't greet me, check if I had an appointment or acknowlege me at all. I stood there for 5 min & all the while, other employees were all crowded around the check-in area. Another receptionist came from the back area, she was a local girl with spikey hair, she approached me & asked if I had an appointment and took care of me the way I was suppose to be taken cared of. I've never had a problem with that particular receptionist & I wish I knew her name cause she no longer works there. She was always so friendly and always remembered my name. \r That started off my whole day in the salon wrong. My hair & nails were done to the best they could be but when I received waxing from yet another new employee, she ripped skin on my lip and brow. I could see if she told me about it but said nothing. I paid for all my services, left and when I woke up the next morning, my lip & brow were scabbed and very red. I felt like skin was cut off my face! I called them and they did nothing. They were not apologetic or sympathized with what happened and expected me to go see a doctor for treatment. I know I signed a waiver before the service, I wasn't expecting my money back. But whoever the manager was handled it in a very unprofessional way. I was so upset that I hung up on them! I've never returned to this salon since then. I think that the customer service was bad and the whole atmosphere was just so different from what I remembered!! Pros: Great location Cons: BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD MANAGEMENT more
