Best Steakhouse anywhere! What else 11/17/2012

Best Steakhouse anywhere! What else needs to be said? Not cheap but worth every cent! more

Simply the best 11/28/2010

It doesn't get any better than this. Upscale bar scene is cool. Ok they could bag the cheesy disco songs and opt for standards or jazz. But no matter. Count on C note per head with drinks more

YUM! Best Steak of my life 3/21/2010

Great place!! Staff treats you like royalty. No complaints at all! It is expensive but that's standard for the classiest of restaurants. The bathroom attendant is not needed! It's awkward. I'm already forking over $200+ for dinner, do I need to pay more for a high schooler to turn on my water and hand me a towel? Pros: Steak, mac and cheese, staff Cons: Bathroom attendants- not needed more

Best Steak PERIOD 5/11/2008

First of all I have traveled all across the country and I have only found one better steakhouse (Charley's, Orlando Fl). Every trip back to Phoenix I go to Mastros and it is always the same (impeccable), which is rarely the case with most other establishments. Far better than Durants, Mortons, Ruth Chris, or Donovans. Pros: Best Steak in Town PERIOD Cons: Still going to cost $250 for a couple with Tip. more

Worst dining experience ever 4/7/2008

I eat at a lot of steakhouses in the valley and this was by far the WORST dinner I have ever had. I ordered the wasabi mashed potatoes and they had no flavor, the steak was tough and overcooked. When I told our server about it, nothing was done. No manager, no apology, nothing. I would much rather have a great dinner and friendly service down the street at Paul Fleming's restaurant. Pros: NOTHING Cons: Horrible, food and way over priced more

Very Disappointing 7/21/2007

My wife and I dine out frequently and eat very well at home (AJ's meats and seafood). We live five minutes from Mastro's and decided to give it a try since it is always busy. While our waiter was friendly and attentive, the food was very unimpressive. Our beefsteak tomato and mozzarella appetizer arrived in just minutes and was very cold (i.e., it was made in advance and kept in the refrigerator). YOU DON?T REFRIGERATE TOMATOS! Incredibly for a top dollar steak house, both our filet and tuna steak were overdone. To their credit, they gave us a second tuna steak and did not charge us for it. We kept the over cooked filet so as not to sound like whiners and found parts of it to be tough and grizzly. We also ordered a side of wasabi-mashed potatoes and found them to be lacking in taste ? no wasabi zing! Forget dessert ? we went down the street to ?That?s Amore? for gelato. If you want a $16 martini, mediocre food and silicone cleavage, knock yourself out at Mastro?s. Our money is going to other steak houses in the valley. more

So disapointed 12/3/2006

Host girls to busy talking to each other to greet customers, bus boys swapped left overs and my friend feed the remainder of my $38 steak to her dogs. Wrote letter to Manager Tony Brunetti, never heard a word. So very disapointed. Pros: Wait staff did a good job Cons: Needs new manager, not paying attention to details more

Beefeaters' Paradise 4/19/2006

Great steak (I had the NY, friends had bone-in ribeye which looked even better) extensive wine list, side dishes and appetizers were very good and... terrific service. Pros: steaks, wine, service more

We had a wonderful meal 3/15/2006

We had a great meal, great service and enjoyed the ambience of a classy room with good music. We arrived early since we were hungry from travelling and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The room filled quickly and no one seemed unhappy. Pros: Service, Food, Ambience Cons: Pricey but worth it more

Don't go there 1/30/2006

We went there for a birthday dinner. We had to wait 15 minutes. There were 6 hostesses milling around. We were seated in a thoroughfare, waiters and customers bumping into our chairs. Food was so so. We expected the wasabi mashed pototoes to have some zing, no such luck. They presented a slice of three layer carrot cake for the birthday girl. It looked great. Unfortunately it was at least 2 days old. On the whole, I would recommend that people go some place else for their dinner in town. Over priced and not great anything! more

I left with desire to try other restaurants. 12/24/2005

Bottom line. Mastros is grate for steaks or upscale drink in the bar, but with several questionable things comes short on attention to details what prevents it to have the whole package absolutely necessary to be rated the best upscale restaurant in town. Pros: expensive, ambience more

Best steak in the West 10/25/2005

Mastros Steakhouse in N. Scottsdale is by far the best overall dining experience west of the Mississippi River. The large bone-in ribeye is unsurpassed! My wife and I travel all over the country and have eaten at Ruth's Chris, Morton's of Chicago, Flemmings, etc. Mastros has it all, perfect service, excellent martini, great food, entertainment and a fine cigar with a glass of Port after dinner is encouraged (not just tolerated). Pros: Valet Parking, Excellent Service, Varied Menu Options Cons: Too crowded more

great place! 10/25/2005

some of the people rating this restaurant either can't afford a nice dinner or are better off staying home with a bottle of white zin (with a screw top) and a barbeque full of frozen meat patties. Mastro's is great! If you are not financiall strapped, I have a hard time believing that there is a better place to have a night out. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Pros: great food, great service, piano bar Cons: a little expensive more

There are better resturant values 10/4/2005

Nice place; but overrated. Prices are too high for what you get. Have been to many fine resturants around the country. Mastro's would not be in my top 10. Pros: Close by, Nice decor Cons: Not a good value, Ala Carte, Very pricey more

Outstanding!!! 7/12/2005

I was in Scottsdale and dined at Mastros recently and was treated to the finest steak imaginable. The ambiance was great, service impeccible, and the food (by the way) was the best I've probably ever experienced. The ""bone-in"" ribeye was absolutely outstanding along with (enormous) sides! Don't ever miss this opportunity... more

Overrated 7/10/2005

Moved to this area 18 mos ago and were told this was THE BEST place for steaks in the US by several people. We make far better steaks at home than these overpriced hunks of meat. The outside was encrusted with a lot of spice or maybe salt (and don't get me wrong, I love spice), but somehow it still tasted blah. I also hate it when places serve all the sides a la carte, but know that most fine restaurants work this way, and I don't even mind paying the exorbitant prices if they're extraordinary...again, blah. The only reason I liked the place AT ALL was the courteous wait staff and the ambience. Those two items are top notch, but do you really go to a fine restaurant to eat below average food at top dollar prices just b/c their staff is nice and the atmosphere is cool? Pros: Staff, Ambience Cons: Food more

Yum! 6/6/2005

The best steak I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, great flavor, lean, it comes on that sizziling plate and when you poke it all the juices squirt out! Pros: Live Piano Player, Great Service, Seeps Class Cons: Lots of Cigar Smoke, see midlife crisis 9 more

Mastro's 4/26/2004

Mastro's isn't inexpensive but the food, service and quality is the best. It is as good as any NYC Steakhouse. You can't go wrong there. more

Best Tasting Steak 2/28/2004

I went with a party of 10 for a business dinner. This was the 3rd steakhouse in 3 days. I was not looking forward to another steak. We had this wonderful seafood tower served with flare and the freshness. A must have with a large group! Oysters, Crab, Lobster and Shrimp! Then came these very large steaks-I had the 22 oz. rib eye on the bone figuring I would have less meat. Ordered medium - it was, by far, the best steak I ever had. It may not mean much to peopl who don;t know me but even after having steak 3 days in a row - and eating steak all my life - this was the ABSOLUTE best. The service was top notch and the wine list fairly represented. It is one of the few restaurants in Pheonix I would make it a point to go back to. Pros: BEST Steak, Great Appetizers, Exceptional Service Cons: , enormous cuts more
