My daughter has been at the Mary Sears Academy for 2 years. She just started kindgarten this year and she loves it. It is a small class room of about 7 children and Ms. McGinnis is wonderful. It took me a long time to find a facility for my only child, and I know as a worried parent I was a little demanding (and still am). However; Mr. Kevin, Ms.McGinnis and Ms.Cannon never made me feel like my requests were too much or difficult. My daughter enjoys the school and I'm excited for her and her first year in school. I have read the negative comments and I have never seen anything of the sort. Regarding the family I have had nothing but great interactions with them. If it was any different I would say so. I was recommended this facility and I will continue to recommend it myself. more

As life-longer learners ourselves, we were initially drawn to Mary Sears? reputation of maintaining a strong, comprehensive curriculum. We quickly came to recognize that the school had much more to offer: A focus on being and thinking positive, respecting each other, and learning responsibility. Each day, we were greeted with a smile from the school directors, Mrs. Keuter or Mr. Patrick, and our children would run into their classrooms to begin the day. The kindergarten program exceeded my expectations from the curriculum to the in-class projects, parties, and numerous field trips. The preschool program was equally impressive, and included audio, visual, and tactile learning elements for early language, math, and science. All of the teachers have been patient, polite, warm-hearted, and extremely accessible. Both of our children have grown intellectually and socially as students at the Manteno MSCA, and we are proud to be a part of the Mary Sears family. more

My 2 year old daughter has been attending Mary Sears in Mantino since she was 14 weeks old. I am amazed at how much she has learned and how social she is. She started counting in spanish one day out of the blue and she has so many little friends. The teachers are all wonderful with the children and give great feedback. I also like the fact that there is no television watching during the day. The children are always doing projects or reading stories or having ""dance parties"" according to my daughter. As a first time mom it was so hard leaving my baby and going back to work but knowing she is in a safe place where her needs are being met and she is having fun makes the process so much easier! more

I am pleased to write this letter of testimonial for Mary Sears Children?s Academy. We have had both of our children in your school since they were infants, and have been with your daycare for 3 years. more

Both of our sons have been going to Mary Sears Children?s Academy since they were babies and we could not ask for a better school. It?s a place where you can drop your Child off, and literally not worry about them. The care is top notch and the respect they have for you and your children is outstanding. The program is structured very well and our boys love coming here. My 9 yr old met his Best friend here, and still keep in touch even though they now go to different schools. Both him & his best friend attend Summer Camp every year and really enjoy it. Our 5 year old looks forward to going to pre-school every day, and will also be attending Kindergarten at Mary Sears in the Fall, which by the way is an excellent program. more

Great school! 4/5/2012

I had 3 children that attended Mary Sears. They went there for day care and pre-school. My girls absolutely loved it. They liked all their teachers (some more than others). The staff is very loving towards my whole family. I think parents who don't discipline their children may not like that their kids may actually be put on the thinking chair or expected to treat the adults and other children with respect. They will not let the children act in ways that are not appropriate. Too many parents think their children are angels and how dare someone else discipline my children. Those parents and children will probably constantly have problems with teachers and schools. more

As crazy as the review below may sound, it is 100% accurate. I am an actual teacher who took my infant to this facility for nearly a year and a half. I found out at that time from a former employee that I had been lied to about how my son was injured in an accident a few months before that had resulted in a concussion. I also found out that he and another girl, who were both left in a developmentally lower room due to number issues, were punished by being left in a crib or strapped in a high chair for an indeterminable amount of time. This treatment was ridiculous and cruel. more

Danger! Parents beware! 5/19/2011

The poor reviews about this school are absolutely correct! I can vouch from experience and regret ever using this ?school?. Do NOT send your children here! None of the ?teachers? are certified and anyone in a position of power is related to the director. They are given carte blanche to do or say whatever they want. They put on a lovely dog and pony show for parents about how the ?children come first?. However, after the parents leave they just let children sit and cry, and actually yell at staffers who try to comfort the children! Mary Sears talks about a lot about R-E-S-P-E-C-T but they don?t show any respect to the children OR to the staff! The school ?rules? state that children should ?never be talked down to?, but this is routinely ignored by bitter and mean sarcastic ?teachers? who demean the children and mock them. Screaming at a three year old to ?RESPECT!? means nothing if you don?t set the example for them. I recently took a course in classroom management and everything the instructor discussed about having consistent rules and a calm and caring atmosphere was never followed at Mary Sears. They would routinely make up new ?rules? on the spot that didn?t exist before, and spend more time spying on each other and engaging in gossip than watching their own classrooms. They break their own ?rules? about how males are not to be with the children when they go to the bathroom. What they claim goes on and what actually occurs are completely different things. I know what my children experienced and they are NOT liars. Mary Sears is a terrible institution and more like a boot camp that any kind of loving nurturing environment. I hope this place gets shut down. more
