If "anonymus" has been at 4 studio's in 8 years, they need to look in the mirror for the problem. When you don't sign your name, your opinion is worth as much as your signature more

OK! seriously, parents cant write a review saying the place is bad, or has bad technique. you cant say the place is bad or has bad technique if your a parent, or if you have never taken dance!! the only way a parent can say its bad, is if its to espensive! which its not!! i started to take dance there a year ago...when i went there i had only taken dance for 4 years, so i was inexperenced, before i went there i tried a differnt studio, hated it and left. I went to mary ellens. Im there for my second year danceing there 8hours a weeek. Not because i want to get better, because i LOVE IT!!!!!! before i went there i didnt kno wat to do, i thought i loved to dance...but now i know i LOVE to dance! i know its somthing i wanna do for the rest of my life! they teach me so many fun dances, and if its not to bold i think im pretty good! mary is very nice along with her staff! I love the place with a passion! go there, i dont think you'll regret! more

I love this studio dearly. Mary Ellen is a very professional, yet understanding woman. She does an exceptional job accommodating to the needs of her dancers, as well as their parents. The staff is also great, as they teach excellent technique while making dancing fun for all ages. As far as the negative reviews are concerned, it is my personal belief that it is impossible to make everyone happy. Therefore, I would definitely recommend the studio if you're looking for a professional and enthusiastic atmosphere for your dancer! more

My daughters (who are now 23,26, and 29 years of age) had dance lessons at Mary Ellen Studio of Dance for years, and my granddaughter has danced there for the past few years. I have never witnessed a teacher making a child cry, unfriendliness, or any of the other negative things that are written by "Anonymous" people. I think it is a wonderful dance studio. All the other parents that attend are very friendly and helpful to one another.As for the owner 'being the other women' and 'broke up a marriage," my granddaughter goes there for dancing lessons, not marriage lessons, so what does that have to do with anything anyway??!! It's so nice that other people have such perfect lives that they are able to 'judge' this person and then to put such slander on a web site - it is totally uncalled for.I have recommended this studio to some of my friends and I will continue to do so. Keep up the great work Mary Ellen Studio of Dance!! Thank you! more

Professional. Great variety of classes, styles, and teachers. Well-priced and very organized recitals. Fun environment for little kids to adults.\r \r Negative reviews obviously came from bitter parents with grudges. Give the studio a chance if you're willing to work with a professional studio with realistic, reasonable rules/regulations. \r \r The previous review...slander? Clearly untrue and heinous. more

My daughter is 8. This is her 4th year in dance and loves Mary Ellen's studio. The teachers are very good, and they do teach proper techniques. The show is great each year, and this is definitely a place to check out. more

It appears to me that all of the negative reviews of this studio are by parents of young children (I may be wrong). The world of dance is a tough world to survive in. It is simply a world full of critique and correction. There is absolutely no way to improve without those things. If the studio is simply "not nice" enough then perhaps its not the studio for you. But the fact of the matter is that it is not for YOU (or your child). So before you take these reviews to heart, try it out for yourself. Reviews are strictly personal opinions. So just give it a try. more

I would not reccomend anyone to go to Mary Ellen. It was the worst dance studio I have ever been to and it is very unprofessional. Unless you do not take dance seriously I wouldn't go there. The owner picks out certain kids and works with them and ignores the rest of the kids. I always wanted to do something with dance, but Mary Ellen never gave me the chance to do that. Instead they pushed me aside. I noticed that after you've danced there for only one year she invites you into the performance company and that makes you think that your really good. When all she is doing is taking you to nursing homes and having you dance for them.Also she has teenagers teaching all her kids which is very unprofessional. I could understand like 4 and 5 year olds, but kids their own age. Mary Ellen taught me nothing and when I went to a different studio I noticed that, and that is why I wouldn't reccomend Mary Ellen. \r \r P.S Mary Ellen is also not child friendly. more

i have been dancing at mary ellen's since and i was 5, and am now 12. i love that almost all of the teachers are teenagers, and make class fun and exciting. most dance studios will give you old ladies for teachers, and inforce old style EVERYTHING. now im not saying mary ellen's doesnt inforce rules, but makes everything fun, and keeps us in the dance 21st century!! Do not listen to other reviews saying that Mary Ellen isn't kind to her dancers, Mary knows me, and most everybody at the dance studio by name. She can be a bit strict, but you have to be with children. I am in Ballet Company this year and am very excited to start on July 7th. I would most defenitly recommend Mary Ellen's to any dancer.\r this is all the truth!\r - a long time dancer more

I can be objective as my daughter has danced at 4 studios in the southeast Michigan area over 8 years. I have to agree with the other negative reviews on this studio. I found the owner very unprofessional. Their classes did not meet the needs of my child. I found the owner very rude and accusatory. She even cornered my daughter to force her into admitting that we were trying out :another studio". That was beyond unprofessional to do that to a child! All she cared about was a "conflict of interest" on the part of me and my child- she didn't care that we were trying to find a studio that could best meet our daughter's needs. Just so you know- the other studio we were working with was totally willing to work with the "2 studio" concept because they had a clue that what was best for my daughter was ultimately best for their studio. more

Studio is not child friendly. Not a very cheery happy atmosphere, unfriendly staff. Some of the teachers are outstanding others have made children cry...just not a very good, professional studio. Staff really needs to be more friendly to both the children and the parents that sit there for hours at a time...they don't even say hello to you when you walk in, even after going there for years! more

Mary Ellen's Studio of Dance is amazing! It's a smaller studio, but it's very great. They have competition classes too. :] I <3 mary ellens. Check it out sometime. more
