Markwood, Richard B, Do - Rivercrest Ob-Gyn

They impose their religious beliefs on patients. They don't seem to understand that women are worth more than their reproductive organs. When they did surgery on me they could have made it so the scar was inside my bellybutton but instead did it just below. Now everyone who sees it asks about my illness which I don't want people to know about. And I can't stress enough how upsetting it is to be told that I can't receive the medical treatment that I need because ""the lord"" intends for me to bear children as soon as possible. I'm not religious and I'm very offended. more

I have seen a lot of physicians in my time. I am very picky and frequently find myself not making a return visit to a doctor (or dentist for that matter) because they do not meet my expectations. This is NOT the case with Dr. Markwood and Dr. Southerland. These doctors are amazing. I actually look forward to seeing them as I know they truly care about me. As a patient I feel as though they spend individual time with me and are not all rushed to leave. When I'm asked about how things are going in my life, I feel as though they have genuine concern for me. I also especially love that I am treated as a person and not just some patient who comes in for a yearly ""inspection."" Very professional and very understanding. I would (and do) recommend these doctors to all my friends and anyone I know who is newly pregnant. How wonderful it is to have a doctor who looks you in the eye and spends time with you and actually answers your questions. more

Shockingly awful experience. Attending with my fiance to review some medical information, I was insulted, threatened, and belittled. The experience began with my fiance telling me ahead of time about a sexual joke he made to her, including my profession in the very crass reference. I am an eye doctor. When I did meet him, he insulted me by refusing to shake my hand until after he embraced my finace. His second wife, with whom the hospital rumors spoke of their marriage beginning in infidelity, is a full 20 years younger than he is. Closer to his patients age, especially when the began their relationship. He then threatened me, telling me he would beat me up if I broke my finace's heart. I guess he doesn't like any other men in his turf, meaning, her anatomy. I asked some medical questions, and while not having the speicalty he does, was educated in body systems. He cut me off, didn't answer my question, and dismissed me as not knowing what I was talking about. For her benfit, I kept quiet. I will not again. He is only a DO by the way. Couldn't get the MD? Stay away, unless you want to fight him. \r more

I can honestly say that Rivercrest has THE rudest staff I have ever seen. The office women are so rude. I went in yesterday for my 20 wk appointment and the girl at the desk was completely mean and unpleasant. It was suppose to be an exciting day for my family and I, and this woman had to ruin it. I accidentally said a curse word because I was so frustrated that every time I go to the DR I am treated so poorly. Dr Sutherland comes in the room and says ""we need to have a talk"", while pointing her finger at me like I am 5 years old. She tells me I have to go somewhere else, that I am no longer welcome there. Being 20 Wks pregnant I was VERY upset and emotional. My fiance went in to talk to her and she said I WAS the one who had to apologize. She also stated that she receives complaints ALL the time about her office staff!!!!! Now I am trying to find a new OBGYN but I believe they wrote a false statement about me in my records, they don't want any doctors to see me. DO NOT GO THERE, you will be treated badly!! more

I LOVE Dr. Markwood and Dr. Sutherland. Dr. Markwood has delivered both of my children. Dr. Markwood tends to be a bit old-school in that he is hesitant to try something like a VBAC, but Dr. Sutherland is supportive of that decision. I planned a VBAC with my second son; my first son was a C-section due to fetal distress. Due to some complications, however, my second son was an emergency C-section at 31 weeks. I never felt pushed by Dr. Markwood. I do think he tends to be ""all business"" during delivery, but that is understandable. What seals the deal for me is that when my second son was born early and VERY sick, Dr. Markwood and Dr. Sutherland came to a hospital outside of their approved ones just to visit us and check on things. Dr. Markwood called several times during my son's NICU stay to check on his status. He is a WONDERFUL doctor. Having said that, while I LOVE the doctors, the office staff is awful! They have lost appointments, put my phone messages under the wrong patient's name (resulting in my messages not being returned), and they are generally not helpful when I ask questions. I can't get perscriptions called in either due to messages being lost or not relayed to the right person. Honestly, if it weren't for the amazing doctors that I have, I would leave the practice because of the terrible service from the office staff. more

His staff is rude, has lost our appointments, promised calls back for three days straight with no call backs. Dr Markwood (really a DO, not MD) is arrogant and thinks he is gods gift to everyone. He forces you to have a C-section with out any discussion, and then tells the surgery staff it was elective. This is day three of needing my perscription refilled by him, with 8 calls having been made. He tells us to call the office, they tell us they need him.... either way they are all idiots. He is horribly insensitive to his patients and thinks telling them he is proud of them once makes up for his HORRIBLE HORRIBLE staff. more

I have been a patient since I was 17rs old...I have never had an issue with them. Dr. Markwood is the best. He always remembers me and we have conversations that continue from a previous appointment. He has delivered both my children and last Wednesday did my tubial. If he ever retires my next dr. will have a lot of work to do to even try to compare to Dr. Markwood. As far as Alyshia goes...she is no longer there. She was a little different. :) Based on my experiences I would recommend them to everyone. more

Dr Markwood and Dr Lucente are awesome!! They are very understanding and caring and really listen to their patients! The overall staff at the office are amazing with one exception but toucan be the judge of that. I would recommend these dr's to all of my friends and family! more

Dr. Lucente, who is a female doctor and works in Dr. Markwood's office, is amazing. She's always understanding, takes her time, and most importantly, is GENTLE. I'm afraid of pap smears and Dr. Lucente is always infinitely patient with me, very gentle and very understanding. It would get five stars just for her! The reason I only gave the office three stars is because you have to wait an insanely long time for an appointment and because Alysha is a total snot, as the reviewer said before me. She's really rude and has an attitude. I think she must be someone's daughter because I can't figure out why else she'd be working there. If you ever have a problem, make sure you don't talk to Alysha. She thinks she's a doctor and she's just some college kid. Pros: Dr. Lucente, kind nurses, nice facility Cons: Some, not all, rude office staff more

The office staff at Markwood's office is despicable, especially that snotty brat alyshia. Get rid of her!! Markwood wouldn't know bedside manner if it smacked him upside the head.
