The Marksman Indoor Range & Gun Shop 5/10/2008

I've been to a few gun shops in the area and was extremely pleased with my shooting experience at the Marksman. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and safety was priority 1 for them. Not having shot there before, I was required to take a range ""safety"" orientation. I was the only female in a room with at least 4 other customers. Some of them were reluctant about taking the orientation because they feel they have shot many times before, and that they know everything about guns. Being knowledgeable about guns doesn't always mean you are safety conscious. I appreciated the fact that the staff reviewed the range rules, which increased my comfort level about going out on the range. I would not hesitate to refer this shop to my family and friends, and I will definitely come back to shoot. For mother's day, I bought myself a nice pistol! more

I am not paying for an attitude. 4/25/2008

I visited this place a couple of times, once because I was new to WA State and the other and last was to see if the atmosphere had changed. It had not. Very rude bad attitude behind the counter. Sometimes you get someone working at a firearms place who just happens to know everything and as luck had it ""dirty harry"" was there my second and last time I entered the business. I listened as joeknowitall spoke down to someone who was attempting to get answers about recoil. My response in the last two years of purchasing firearms and ammunition was with other businesses. A drivers license does not make and expert driver just as an FFL, (harry was probably working for the FFL holder) does not make an expert of firearms. Pros: Indoor range - didn't inquire about it though Cons: location is a mess and no customer service more

GREAT SERVICE IF YOU AVOID CARL THE NASTY ATTITUDE GUY 3/13/2008

I like many others have experienced horrible service from this shop but not from the shop in general but just one person. I hate to give a bad review to a place of business just becuase of one bad apple. I was referred there by a friend who stated they have the best prices around for hand guns. I shopped around quite a bit and must say they have very fair prices. The day I went in to purchase I had the displeasure of meeting Carl he was very rude to me and frankly made me not even want to bother purchasing a hand gun. after a few hours of calming down I thought to myself that maybe he was just having a bad day so I decided to call them when I did I got the same guy who asked me to call back when they werent so busy. At that point I was done with them and purchased over $2000 in firearms at another shop. Later I decided to give them one more chance to earn my business I went in looking for some parts and to my surprise I spoke to a couple other guys Doug, Doug and Dan (yes there are 2 dougs there and they are both great) they appologized profusely and asked who gave me the bad service I told them and they noted it and said they they are understaffed and were aware of the problem and was working with him until they found a replacement. since then the 2 Dougs and Dan have been great to deal with I will continue to shop there. more

Worst service 2/26/2008

On Sunday, 27 Feb 2008, about noon time, I went into the gun shop with 3 of my friends and was given a non-friendly reception. We wanted to fire at the indoor range and was given a speech about, we had to take a safety course. I tired to explain to the clerk that I had taken one of the 3 hour classes on pistol safety and in it was covered the range safety course. The clerk would not listen and stated the rules are rules! So we went to the Fort Lewis range and had a great time for less money. I was a loyal customer since 2001 when I bought 2 hand guns and accessories estimated cost $5000, and ammo on a regular bases estimated cost $1000. I did referred the shop to many of my friends and family but will not anymore. I was looking for hunting rifles and was willing to spend $4 or $5 thousand dollars but not there. I do not believe they want my business and from what I read here I'm not alone. Pros: It was selection Cons: Service more

Is the tone of the business set by the owner or is there just one bad attitude case behind the counter? 2/11/2008

I must have been the unlucky one who got the bad attitude counter guy also. I have witnessed his behavior to other customers on a prior visit, but never experienced it myself until today. He may be a great guy as an employee, but he is NOT a customer service counter man. A smile, a little joy in life, a happy bubble in front of the customers even if you're having a bad day. All of the basics of customer service seem to have been left out for this guy as he grew up as a counter man.\r \r I am in a position as a volunteer for an organization that can refer customers to this business. Will I? The answer is no. There are too many other better choices in the market place to choose from. Places where customer service is a critical part of their business plan. A light hearted atmosphere is a commodity that is hard to place a value on, but has value none the less. New people to the shooting sports deserve a smile behind the counter, a friendly helpful attitude. The gun business can be conducted in such an atmosphere, their direct competitors do it. I will send new shooters else where if asked advice on where to shop.. Oh, by the way I was going to make a purchase today, but choose not to after my exchange with Mr Happy. Exmil Pros: OK prices, and indoor range Cons: see my coments more

avoid it 2/21/2007

the employees are polite and helpful but.... there is one worker there that is rude, rude, rude...... in all my years buying anything anywhere i have never been treated so blatantly disrespectful and just rude.... sorry but i believe if I'm throwing down 400.00 - 500.00 $$$'s i should get some decent service.... i personally would not recommend this shop to anyone as there are several in the area that have much better service... Pros: good prices, helpful employees for the most part Cons: one really disgruntled employee ( the owner maybe ) more
