I am from out of town. I was camping with my RV in a town about 30 mins away. Anyway, during my camping trip, I ended up trading vehicles and needed the brake controller from my old vehicle re-installed in my new one so I could tow my RV back home. I spent most of Saturday afternoon calling about 20 different places to try and get this thing installed. Nobody could get me in till Wed or Thurs and that is if they could even install this! Most places didn't know how or didn't want to mess with it. So, ready to give up, I made one last call late Saturday afternoon and called Mark's in Rockford. They said bring it in Monday morning first thing and they could do it. I was relieved. When I arrived at Mark's, I was immediately impressed with the friendly service and their ability to get my vehicle right in. My cost was reasonable and they had me in and out relatively quick. I waited in the lobby where they had a TV, free pop, free Kuerig coffee, and free WIFI. I watched TV and worked on my laptop while I sipped free Diet Coke. My only regret is that I do not live in Rockford to be able to utilize Mark's more often. This place is truly a gem when good quality auto service places are very hard to come by. I was driving through town when my car wouldn't start after a pit stop. AAA set up a tow to this shop and they went above and beyond the call of duty getting me taken care of. It ended up that my car needed an engine replacement so I didn't end up getting my car repaired, but they gave me all my options and were happy to give me multiple rides to my motel and the bus station across 3 days when I needed them. more

Heard a whirling sound from the rear wheel while driving on the expressway from Chicago; my wheel was hot and I knew there was a problem. My wife found this shop on line, and we pulled in around 1:30 on a Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend; this large shop had plenty of cars in the lot, and a number up on racks, but wasn't all that busy. They got us in right away. While I was there, two or three locals came in to discuss future jobs they were considering having done (I was glad to see that this shop seems to have do business in its community). The rear brake caliper had seized, and this shop got two guys working on the car and got us back on the road late that afternoon; as long as the tires were off, they did my front brakes, too, which I'd been dallying over. First brake job at 93,000 miles. I couldn't believe I wasn't stranded overnight: kids, hotel, hotel out of town paid for -- would have completely sucked! These guys were friendly, easy to work with, and struck me as honest, though I paid real ""walk in"" prices, i.e., no $79 brake special. Regardless, I think I saved money over what I would have paid in Chicago. (I've been ripped off and lied to plenty over the years, and these guys were straight up, though I didn't double check the hours against a shop book or anything.) Their work is covered by a nationwide warranty network, too, which is a huge bonus. I'd return without a second thought, though I hope it never comes to that! more

I was traveling from Missoula, Montana to Lansing, Michigan and I broke down in Rockford, Illinois. Thank God for Mark's Auto!!! Although they are obviously a busy shop, they managed to work my rig into their schedule, provided stellar customer service (including complimentary transportation to and from a nearby hotel), maintained clear and frequent communication with me about the status of my vehicle, and provided timely repairs. I was back on the road in just over 24 hours. A huge thank you to Terry, Mark, and the rest of the crew. Much appreciated! more

I have been going to Mark's Auto Service for about 5 years now. I have never had one issue with them, the staff has always been kind and upfront with me on pricing/issues they noticed with my car. I will not trust another shop with my car! more

I am a long term customer of this business and have always been pleased with the service provided. Twice I have had car problems at a time that was very inconvenient, The staff was wonderful at diagnosing the problem, giving a clear explanation of the problem and the options for repair, and getting me back on the road as soon as possible minimizing the need for changing plans and minimizing my stress level. more
