12/27 A night to forget 12/27/2009

What a night. All we wanted was coffee and sweets. Not asking for much, but boy, were we suprised!\r \r Was there about 8PM on the 27th and we:\r \r 1. Had a waitress that was very poor at doing her job. Would not normally of mentioned it because of the crappy economy, but what the heck, I am not real happy at this point.\r \r 2. The food looked nothing like the menu picture. In fact, talking of pictures, did you know what the specials are going to be on Thanksgiving Day? I do. They were either 330 days early providing this info, or 30 days late taking the T-Day info down from the menus and table settings.\r \r 3. Could not get coffee refills without flagging down the waitress. Not such a bad thing though, because it was lukewarm at best.\r \r 4. Sundae was tasteless and the hot toping was clumped on the bottom, hard as a rock. I did manage to chew thru what I did eat of it like I was eating a rubber band.\r \r 5. Manager came over to ask if we were experiencing problems. No sense talking with her, as I saw it as management is the problem there. Besides, if I had wanted to talk with her, I would have asked for her. Definately did not like her approach or her choice of words when she came over to the table. But as she said, 'I can fix anything"". Well, fix this review then.\r \r **** Here is a clue about customer service - if someone is in for just dessert and coffee, the waitress might consider bringing around a coffee pot when she goes through the restaurant and just refill empty cups without having to be asked. *****\r \r To top it off, I left my cell phone there, retunded within a few minutes of leaving only to find that it was not found by the staff. Strange thing was that it was not busy then, we were sitting far away from everyone else in a corner booth, and I really doubt that a customer would have even seen it on the table to take it.\r \r I think that it was the waitress, my wife thinks that it was another employee, regardless, I firmly believe that it was one of their staff that took it.\r \r One good note about the place ..... even though it looks like a Denny's inside, oh wait .... Denny's looks a lot better inside. Forget the good note. Guess I have nothing good to say about the place.\r \r *** Additional note to management: at least have your waitress staff take their smoke breaks away from the front door. It would benefit you to have a smoke free walkway into your establishment! And it looks bad walking in or out of a restaurant with employees out front smoking. Have them try a side door to stand outside of. ***\r \r ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r \r Oh - here is something interesting that I found online, it is the results of the last health inspection. You decide of this is your kind of place! It was from 2006 - maybe they should have another inspection soon ......\r \r Comments: Seven quarts of half and half were found dated 2/18/06. The dishwasher registers no chlorine. The can opened had a large buildup of food debris. The cooler drawers on the line are inoperable. The drain line on the freezer condenser is leaking. The restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. The garbage enclosure had approximately three inches of grease and garbage buildup. The floor tiles near the kettle and oven area were broken.\r \r ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r \r If management want to respond, you have my e-mail address and contact information. I sent it in to their Customer Service link on their website on theDec 27th and once agin on Dec 29th, just in case they are as dysfunctional as the restaurant management and 'overlooked' the first e-mail.\r \r Will keep updating results or if all goes well, may end up deleting this post. Either way, it does not matter to me. Just hope to get resolution to a problem. Pros: The exit door was open Cons: Service, Honesty, Food, Management more

Danger 10/5/2007

Stay away from this marie callenders I have been to many of them this is the worst in the west 2 of my friends both got VERY ILL from there chicken soup one of them a local docter (how you can screw up chicken soup is a mystery to me) soup is a safe item being it is kept at above 140 F all day so they must be to cheap to keep it hot as for the pies same as all marie callenders (thats cause they come to them frozen) Pros: Better than a sharp stick in the eye (or not) Cons: Food sickness abounds more

the pies are good 4/19/2007

The food is O.K. Pretty much tastes like it is sent in frozen and warmed up for you. I could not really tell the difference between the frozen Marie Callender's meals in the frozen food section of the grocery store and the stuff you get at the restaurant. The pot-pies are good enough, fairly large and the crust is pretty good. I was not impressed with much else on the menu. The five or so times I have eaten there, I tried different things on the menu, and would have to say that the food is mediocre. If I ever eat there again, I will stick with the turkey pot-pie. The salad bar is basic, nothing really stands out. Breakfast is O.K. The service is not the greatest, and I felt like it was an inconvenience to the waitress to wait on me. It was hard to get anyones attention just to get refills of drinks. The cornbread is great, and the pies are the best. I thought the cheesecakes looked good but were pretty expensive. I don't eat there anymore, just drop in on occasion get a pie and leave. The next time I'm there I might get a muffin to take home and try out. The restaurant itself is well decorated and clean, but not enough so to make up for the so-so food and ho-hum service. I would say all in all Marie Callender's is somewhat of a let down from my expectations. They are supposed to be legendary for their food, but I was really dissapointed. Pros: go for the pies.... more

Go for the pie 11/14/2006

This is your average, chain, family-style restaurant. The food is acceptable, as is the service.\r If you like pie, and don't want to bake, it's worth the trip. It doesn't seem to attract much of a breakfast crowd, but some of the muffins are pretty good. Pros: Yummy pie - and lots of choices more
