don't do it 7/30/2006

This place was recommended to me by Mint Julip after I purchased a pair of jeans that needed to be shortened. Well, they did get shortened at Maria's- too bad the legs ended up being different lengths! One leg was over an inch longer than the other. The stitching was horrible, the bottom of both legs was completely uneven and the service by Maria was AWFUL. She was unwilling to listen to my complaint or fix my jeans. I now take my jeans to a drycleaners nearby- they are polite and my jeans are perfect. If you are in need of a good taylor- do not go to Maria's! Cons: everything! more

Ruined bridesmaid dress 5/17/2006

I had a bridesmaid dress shortened and taken in at Maria's -- when I picked it up, the fabric was kinked because she had taken an iron to delicate fabric (and told me I had left it with her that way), the bottom of the dress was crooked by over an inch (and she ""measured"" with a ruler when I pointed this out by pulling hard on one side and letting it hang slack on the other and told me it was only a quarter of an inch crooked), AND the lining of the dress was longer in some places than the overlayer. To top it off, when I said I wouldn't pay, she told me that she knew ""my type,"" that I was ""going to take the dress and wear it just as it was and got a free alteration."" HORRIBLE Service, Bad attitudes 10/5/2005

Maria's provided TERRIBLE service. When I returned for pick up, Maria and her two unmoving staff people told me to go find my tailoring myself because I lost my pick-up ticket... forcing me to wade through a wall full of clothes. Everything was labeled-- they could've easily found it themselves. It was horribly insulting-- Maria commented she had customers to take care of, conveniently forgetting I was a customer. Plus, the pants I brought to be tailored didn't fit... she didn't alter the waist as I had requested. I was polite the whole time-- too shocked to be upset.
