A Party for Four 11/7/2005

Four of us go out several times a year for special celebrations. We travel from Chattanooga to Louisville in search of fine dinning experiences. Our first opinion of Margot was that it was that we must have the wrong neighborhood, but with no real issues that wasn't a problem. Our second concern was that the ""quaintness"" of the decor was a little homemade, but the service and the food more than made up for the rather amateur construction techniques. We had a great time! Pros: Outstanding Server, Excellent Food, Great martinis Cons: Decor, limited menu, desert a little bland more

We began with a red Spanish wine and an Italian semi-soft cheese acompanied by almond toast and blackberries. The pairing of fruit, toast, and wine made for an intruiging conversation of flavors, while the cheese itself offered the last creamy word on texture. For entrees, we hedged our bets, with my companion sampling the sauteed turbot dish surrounded by an intruiging couscous while I salivated over perfectly prepared duck nesting in sumptuous risotto. The quality of these dishes and the care taken in the selection and use of their superb ingredients convinced us that we could have ordered anything on the short menu and been equally satisfied. Our pallates satiated, we unwound with a post-coital white chocolatte cake. The cool, calming sensation of this desert was the perfect conclusion to an epic meal. more

satisfying 8/20/2005

The noise level can be high here, booking a table for 6.00pm will ensure you can eat and converse peacefully; old fogies and romantic couples dont leave it too late. The service on our visits has been informed and perky and fiercely loyal to chef Margot - and rightly so, the dishes are far more tasty than they sound - at least to us. The humble pate is worthy of a signature dish and a good bar meal with a glass of wine. We have only eaten fish and salads here and they have been excellent. An overall short menu has succeeded in bringing FRESH well prepared dishes to the table. Pros: Fresh Food, Service Cons: Noise more

New to Nashville 8/7/2005

Saturday night dinner was EXCEPTIONAL> Margot and her staff is well prepared to present the finest, freshest, and exquisitely prepared entrees, appetizers and desserts. Just like eating at home with a chef in the house! Sunday brunch was to die for. So many tempting dishes.! After the weekend was over I felt like I had to have someone roll me out the door. The atmosphere is homestyle elegant. There were ladies in long dresses and me in jeans and everyone was comfortable. Students celebrating their admission to Vanderbilt and regulars anticipating the menu selection of the day. They keep coming back and I can definetely see why! Heirloom tomatoes, lest we forget. I ooohed and awed at the richness. Margot believes in the freshest ingredients. Run, don't walk to make those reservations! Pros: handicap access. more

Best Birthday-EVER 5/18/2005

My best friend took me to Margot's for my 35th birthday on Dec. 1, 2004. It was the best birthday ever. The martinis are out of this world & the Chef knew my friend. We spoke with her about cooking classes this summer. The food was exquisite, yet affordable. I am taking my friend for her birthday on May 28. We recommend it to all of our friends. more

Best food I've had in Nashville! 9/29/2004

At Margot's we experienced many exctiting flavors and a wonderful dining experience. Servers were very attentive, knowledgable and considerate. The wine list was outstanding and impressed our overseas guests who had been disappointed by their experiences of wining and dining so far in the USA. The menu was exciting and the food more than lived up to the beautiful descriptions. The apetizers are really impressive so make sure you sample as many as you can afford. Entrees were delicious and a good size. Allow plenty of time as this is not fast food - you will appreciate being able to savor each course throughout the evening. It is not cheap but compared to the nicer 'chain' restaurants it is excellent value - you will be given a unique experience for a similar price and I must say that Margot's served the best food I've ever eaten in Nashville. more

The Real Bistro In Nashville 6/30/2004

We go to Margot's three or four times a month. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is always attentive and topnotch. Her cutting edge menu changes daily and is very reasonable. The little known fact is their wine list (albeit relatively small) is priced at a modicum over retail (usually, a restaurant will sell in a range from two to four times the retail cost). Pros: excellent food, great wine value, good service Cons: small seating area, parking on street, off beaten path more

The best! 6/20/2004

I would recommend this as the best restaurant in Nashville. We love it. We have been going to Margot's for over two years now and never a bad experience. The menu changes daily and the food never disappoints. Delicious, savory, and beautifully and skillfully done. Nothing pretentious about Margot's. Everyone is so nice. The prices are great. We order starters, appetizers, entrees, desserts, drinks, everything on the menu. Go to Margots! You won't be disappointed! Pros: great prices!, Wonderful staff!, Great food! more

80th Birthday Celebration 1/31/2004

Choosing Margot's as the site of an 80th birthday celebration was an inspiration for us. While several members of the family had been there before it was new to most of the rest. I have to thank Greg W for his super-attentive service (to a table of 15) and Margot's magic in the kitchen with her staff for the beautiful evening we spent there. As a couple outside of an "event" we plan to return very soon. Pros: Service, Food, Value more

Friendly knowlegable staff- awesome food 4/6/2003

On Friday night we were greeted & seated immediately by the friendly hostesses. For appetizers we ordered the Potato Chips with Aioli. Very good homemade chips with a nice dip. The Grilled Ribeye dinner was delicious as was the Pan Fried Trout. We also had fresh bread which they brought to the table one piece at a time. We complemented dinner with a bottle of wine from their extensive list. They only had one chocolate dessert to choose from- Chocolate Meringue with Ganache that I didnt care for. Our waiter, Greg W, was awesome. He was always at the table at the right moment but was not intrusive. Our wine glasses never went empty, we never wanted for anything. He was quick to make suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the food & drinks at the restaurant. He even cleared the crumbs from the table! Would we go back- absolutely! Pros: friendly staff, Great food, Nice atmosphere more

another mediocre spot 4/4/2003

Sadly like too many of the "hot" restaurants in the Nashville area this one is underwhelming. While the staff seems to think they are on the cutting edge the food is average and the while it is not as overpriced as some of its peers in the hot category -- remember Saso and 6 Degrees among others -- it has all of the same shortcomings: Understaffed, average food, unsubstantiated ego. T Pros: decor, bread, servers positive Cons: average food, understaffed, poor value more
