We went with group for a birthday dinner and bottle service. We ate in the upstairs nook where we ended up staying for the late night. We shared appetizers of crab cakes, mussel...

The ambience was romantic and contemporary. A place for friends or a date. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The presentation of the meal was fabulous but don't judge a book ...

A very pretty place with amazing seafood. We came because we wanted stone crabs and ordered one pound for the table as our appetizer - yum! We ordered scallops with the butternut squash risotto and seabass for our dinner. The fish was so fresh, it just flaked off in tender pieces, it was mouth watering. I plan on returning. more

Our second favorite restaurant in Tampa next to Berns. We are regulars at this restaurant for fresh seafood and have been patronizing Mangroves for 8 years. The seafood is delicious and ALWAYS Fresh! The Tuna tartar is the absolute best I have ever had, it is like a dessert to me. Berns & Mangroves - The Best in Tampa! more

Our second Valentines Day Dinner at Mangroves and we were very impressed. They had a special menu with 4 courses and the meal was well worth the money. We had the crab cakes and the shrimp in the puff pastry with the truffled cream sauce, lobster bisque and salad. we even had a second bowwl of soup it was so good. For entrees we had the Alaskan crab legs and the strip steak with the shrimp. The service, presentation, quality & taste of the food was A+ This is our special occassion spot. more

Mangroves is awesome. The decor is beautiful and modern, the food has a beautiful presentation to compliment it's excellent taste, and the service is stellar. Plus it is in a location, close to nite life and dessert/coffee bars. I am a hotel concierge, and I always recommend Mangroves to my guests. :) more

I'm a connoisseur of margaritas... and the bartender at Mangroves made me the best one that has ever crossed my lips. I had two. Oh.. and the meal was incredible.. service professional.. and the guests oh-so attractive. Consider it a treat to oneself.. go to Mangroves. more

All in One! 2/11/2012

We went with group for a birthday dinner and bottle service. We ate in the upstairs nook where we ended up staying for the late night. We shared appetizers of crab cakes, mussels, short ribs and mac and cheese with crab. All delish! I split the blue mango salad and split the seabass.The fish was so fresh and tasty. Jason took great care of us and set us up with Justina for the birthday party. dj Mike was awesome; he played every request. If you are looking for a place that you can have dinner and dance Mangroves is IT!!! more

REALLY??? 11/11/2011

The last reviewer was right! What is up with this place? The mac and cheese tastes like that boxed stuff we used to eat as kids, the whole dining experiance is totally different! Did you guys change where you get your food? Go for a cheaper product? I'm not sure about that smell the last person was talking about, but the food has changed for the worst! Can't understand why a place would up and change a good thing, man I used to love this place, now it looks like I'm on the hunt for another place that has enough sense to leave well enough alone!!! I'll give it one more try next month, but guy's, do what you gotta do to get back to the way it was!! more

It's OK.... 8/26/2010

Well, we started out around 9:00. $20 to park. A little pricey. Ordered some drinks and when you get shots, it's an extra $2 to get them with ice. Had a total of 5 drinks and it was about $80 with tip and parking, and then the dance floor was closed for a private party. Needless to say, we left the car there since it was so $$$ to park, then walked to some other clubs nearby where we could actually dance! Overall the place was a little dead and we had to go elsewhere for some action.\r \r Now, I didn't eat there. Sounds like the food is almost good enough to make up for pricey parking and drinks and closed dance floor. Maybe if I go again, it should be for the dinner not nightlife. more

Blown Away 3/17/2010

I was in Tampa for 3 days and was told to try this restaurant from my coworker who ate there the night before. A great choice; the food was very good and we enjoyed everything that we ate; but the service was beyond outstanding. We waited outside for 45 minutes for a cab & the manager saw us on her way home. She told us to get in her car and drove us to the Marriott. I tried to tip her but she would not take it. l still am blown away Pros: Food, Music & Clientele Cons: Taxi Service is Terrible more

New Years was worth every penny 1/2/2010

For $100 a New Years ticket I was a little hesitant with the money I had spent over the holidays, but a large group got together and wanted to do something nice to end this horrible year. Mangroves was worth every penny and more. We walked in had a great table and couches reserved for us the entire night. The servers were passing DELICIOUS appetizers and they had food stations, a full bar for 5 hours and breakfast. The music was awesome, Sam the bartender was super hospitable and gave us outstanding service, the energy was great, a very nice looking crowd and it was not as packed as the weekends; you could actually walk to the bathroom. The night ended with breakfast and a long wait for a cab, but they let us sit inside until it arrived. This was a first class event. I am looking forward to going back for dinner the food was from all spectrums and was just so good. Pros: all more

Beef tartar so damn good 7/21/2009

I can not stop thinking about the truffled beef tartar on bread crisps. Just so damn good. All the food was really nice. I just can not get his appetizer out of my mind. The sushi rolls are huge, I could not finish my meal. Sit in the white room ask for Jason and eat the tartar....get a double order you will be in heaven more

Valentines Day was Divine 2/16/2009

This was our second Valentines Day Dinner at Mangroves and it was fantastic. 4 courses with such wonderful choices in each course. My husband and I each had a different appetizer so we could share, so we had the crab cake and the shrimp in the pastry with an amazing truffled cream sauce. We did the same for the second course having the soup and the salad. The lobster bisque was so good we wanted more and the waitress gave us a second bowl. For dinner I had the huge Alaskan crab legs with the scallops and my husband had a strip steak with shrimp, both meals were very good and cooked perfectly. We should not have had the second soup, we ended up taking food home. The dessert for two was a warm torte with chocolate oozing out of the center with chocolate covered strawberries. The whole meal and service was just an overall great experience, especailly with a set Valentine Menu on such a busy day. Always Happy 1/21/2009

I absolutley love Mangroves. Iv'e been there twice for New Years Eve and it's a perfect pick to start your New Year off right. They go out of their way to make it a special evening while still having the full menu at regular price. Mangroves single handedly changed my opinion of the restaurant-by-evening, club-by-night concept. The cuisine is nearly unmatched in Tampa Bay, they take great care in their service and the ambience is lovely. more
