We went with group for a birthday dinner and bottle service. We ate in the upstairs nook where we ended up staying for the late night. We shared appetizers of crab cakes, mussel...

The ambience was romantic and contemporary. A place for friends or a date. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The presentation of the meal was fabulous but don't judge a book by its cover. The meal was such a let down. Being one of the signiture entrees, the seabass, the meal was room temperature if even and not worth finishing. The waitstaff is presumptuous and spoil the atmopshere by running up and down the stairway in the center of the restaurant. Pros: decor, quantity of meal Cons: price, wine list, quality more

The bartenders are the best in town...i will go as far as saying they are the best i have ever encountered! they make a point of remembering faces, names, and what you drink. and they are a beautiful bunch of people. if mangroves were a movie the casting director would certainly win an oscar! what food i have tried has been yummy...but i go for the girls and guys behind the bar, cuz, ""sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name"". thanks to all of you at mangroves! Fantastic 7/29/2002

My husband and I enjoyed one of the best meals of our lives. We ate and ate and ate, from appetizers: the scallops, to the mixed green salad, to the mushroom stuffed filet ,to the truffle seabass. Every morsel melted in my mouth. I have a smile on my face as I think about this meal. I can't wait to go back. Pros: fantastic food Cons: hard location to find more

The Concierge recommends..... 6/20/2002

Mangroves has the best fresh seafood in Tampa. Im a concierge for the largest hotel in west central florida, and I know good food. Our concierge staff recommends Mangroves; many of the guest we send return two or three times during thier stay. I love the people, the food, the drinks, and the electric atmosphere. This is Floribean fusion at its best!!!! more

Tribune review 6/15/2002

After reading the tampa tribune review, we dined at Mangroves and it was even better then I expected. It was worth our trip from Sarasota and we will definately be back for the fresh seafood. more
