Vegetarians BEWARE 4/30/2008

We went to Mangia for our anniversary and while we were anticipating a delightful evening, we were sorely disappointed. The waitress was not knowledgable about the dishes and unable to make recommendations. It seemed she was inexperienced in opening wine bottles, as she destroyed the cork in the process. Regardless of the fact that we informed the waitress that we were both vegetarian prior to ordering and even after we confirmed ordering the vegetarian toasted raviolis, she carelessly brought us beef ravioli. Of course, after biting into one and swallowing I realized the significant error and became sick to my stomach. Nothing was done to ammend the situation so we departed immediately and will NEVER return. Our anniversary dinner was ruined and the mood of the evening unsalvagable. Pros: vegetarian toasted raviolis if you can actually get them, near other restaurants so you can escape Cons: smoky environment, careless and inexperienced staff, NOT vegetarian friendly/trustworthy more

Fabulous spread of fresh fruits, pineapple, strawberries, red & green grapes with their fresh buffet. 8/9/2006

The buffet offers many delicious choices, a no fail dining experience for vegetarians and meat eaters alike: ultra sweet-hot wings, beef meatballs, vegetarian and meat sauce, soup, 5-star pasta made in their own pasta factory, garlic toast, curry chicken salad, fresh romaine Mangia salad. Double the original size on the first floor, marble mosaic in the new rest rooms, Mangia enjoys an eclectic and distingue group of fans: business folk, artists, musicians, poets, flamenco dancers, chefs extraordinaire, painters, and journalists who all thrive on Mangia's food and flavor. Enjoy the mural by painter Wayne St. Wayne (former show biz wrestler), ""The History of the Universe...on Acid"", enjoy the jazz be-bop scene. The food is reliably Muy Rico. Excellent thin crust Brutus pizza (reminds me of Amsterdam) and Ceasar salad (made with real anchovy). Truly good food. Pros: The lasagne (veggie or meat) is a real treat as are the Italian sodas. Cons: I miss cappucino happy hour. more

good food but the setting really takes away 11/1/2005

sure the food is pretty decent. but your sitting in a bar with smoke every where and the people at the bar getting rowdy and makign lots of noise. and the dining tables are all next to the bathrooms. i have been there twice because the food and service was so good the first time i had to go back even though i hated the atmosphere. but the second time the food was only ok and the service wasnt that good either. who knows maybe i went on a bad day the second time but i wont go back. Cons: smokey, crowded and noisy more

The rissotto kicks! 10/31/2002

Killer rissotto, my date had one with smoked scallops, mine was served with a filet topped with gorgonzola and brown sugar (wow), nice timing on courses, although the wine service was not confident, at best. Definitely a serious upgrade with the new owners. more

Where did the ""old"" cook go? 6/27/2002

Mangia use to be our favorite spot for Italian. Every Friday night I could look forward to dining there. I have been there twice since it recently reopened and have regreted both times. Apparently the old cook left and took with him the extra large martinis, the delicious salads and more importantly, he took with him his recipes. Now this place can't even cook spaghetti. I mean noodles and sause is usually pretty safe,....not at this place. They will be out of bussiness in six months, no doubt. Pros: It use to be good Cons: food, food, food more
